Adrian looked down from the balcony, his handguns lowered for a split second in shock. He never saw Lilian's power before.
"Lucien is down on the lawn!" he yelled, snapping back to the reality of the swarm. "They're burying him!"
Lilian turned her gaze toward the open front door.
Lucien was disappearing, knocked flat on his back near the stone fountain. Four rogues were on top of him.
He was swinging his sword wildly, but they were pinning his arms down by sheer weight. One rogue was inches away from his face, its black lipped mouth opening wide to tear into his throat.
"Lucien!" Adrien yelled from the balcony, but he couldn't get a clear shot without hitting his brother.
Lilian vaulted over the banister, her body moving like it was weightless. She hit the foyer floor and sprinted toward the open porch.
"Lilian, wait!" Dante shouted, reaching for her, but she was already gone.
