Twenty minutes later, Lilian sat at the long dining table dressed in loose soft pants and one of Adrian's silk shirts, which was large enough to serve as a dress.
Mrs. Hemsworth worked through the kitchen preparing eggs, bacon, bread, and coffee. Her weathered face showing no surprise at being summoned to prepare a full meal before most of the estate was awake, as if this were a daily routine.
"You need protein and iron," she told Lilian, setting a plate in front of her. "Your system has been through the wringer. Eat it all."
"Yes, ma'am," Lilian said automatically.
Mrs. Hemsworth's expression softened slightly. "That's a good girl. And don't let these three bully you. They're protective to a fault, but you're allowed to have opinions."
"I'm standing right here, Mrs. Hemsworth," Dante said from the doorway.
"I know exactly where you are," she replied without turning around. "That's why I'm saying it. You'll try to make all her decisions for her if she lets you."
