Chapter 68 - Stepping In, Knocking Kokabiel Away

Holding the golden Holy Sword that was nearly taller than her entire body, Lint Sellzen's movements were not hindered in the slightest. Instead, empowered by the fused Holy Swords' various abilities, she grew increasingly swift, pressing Kiba Yuuto and Koneko into a corner.

If Lint Sellzen hadn't deliberately held back, Koneko-already unarmed and lacking any defensive items-would have long since been immobilized by the Holy Sword's special effects, left completely at the opponent's mercy.

Hiro hadn't watched that battle for long when a heaven-shattering roar suddenly erupted from the sky ahead.

Rumble-!!! Click.

The mask of the Red Dragon Emperor's armor closed over him once more, shielding him from flying gravel, snapped branches, and scattered debris.

Although the emerald jewels set in the eye sockets allowed clear vision, in the dust-filled chaos, pure eyesight was far inferior to Observation Haki.

And what he saw through the dust curtain was no different from what he had expected.

Only a few black feathers were missing from the corner of Kokabiel's first pair of wings. The rest of his dark attire showed no damage at all.

The gulf in strength between a ten-winged fallen angel and high-class devils was already obvious.

"What's this? Was that your full power just now, Red Dragon Emperor? Or was that the full strength of the two of you?"

Woo-woo-

The ten wings behind Kokabiel flapped. The violent wind instantly swept away the dust, revealing his pale face filled with disappointment.

"There wasn't much difference from before. Disappointing. Disappointing. Truly disappointing. Utterly boring."

So even with Hiro's gift, this is all the power I have...

Staring at the unscathed ten-winged fallen angel, Rias clenched her right hand tightly, unwillingness surging in her chest.

But right now, unwillingness was all she had.

Ten wings. The same level as him.

So the distance between me and that level... is still this far.

Looking at the pitch-black wings behind Kokabiel, Akeno couldn't help recalling a figure buried deep in her memories. Her eyes dimmed slightly.

Whoosh.

As the two girls were lost in thought, Hiro-still in Balance Breaker-arrived beside them on a gust of wind.

"Rias. Akeno. You can fall back now."

"Then I'll leave it to you, Hiro."

Rias nodded without hesitation and retreated with Akeno, whose expression was complicated.

Thump. Thump.

His heart skipped its rhythm, beating rapidly twice before settling back into a steady pace.

After Rias and Akeno withdrew, Hiro, encased in crimson armor, felt a faint thrill rise within him.

Since activating the system, he had gained ability after ability, yet he had never truly fought at full strength.

Ghouls. Stray devils. Diodora. Riser. Youkai. Freed.

Every battle had ended in an instant.

The only time he'd exchanged more than one blow was due to a difference in height.

But this time-

It seemed that, finally, an opponent worth fighting had appeared.

To avoid ending things too quickly, he had deliberately maintained his Balance Breaker and hadn't dared to activate Juggernaut Drive.

"Now that they've retreated... is it finally your turn, second Red Dragon Emperor?"

Seeing Hiro step forward in Balance Breaker, the boredom on Kokabiel's face vanished. In its place rose intense excitement and seriousness.

He was clearly treating Hiro as an opponent worthy of a real fight.

"Come! Fight me! New Red Dragon Emperor! Don't tell me you'll back down at the last moment even now!"

Light spears ignited one after another around him.

Kokabiel glared at Hiro with scarlet eyes and roared.

His thirst for battle-and his intent to provoke a three-faction war-was laid bare.

Whoosh.

Hiro exhaled slowly, a faint, colorless mist leaving his mouth.

His body, already comparable to Serafall's-no, surpassing it-was fully activated.

Once prepared, he made no gestures.

The crimson dragon wings behind him snapped open.

And in the next instant, he vanished.

Gone.

Kokabiel, already on high alert, saw this and his eyes widened in shock.

He couldn't see him at all.

That speed-

Just a human. Activating the Balance Breaker of a Longinus, and achieving this level of speed.

It was exhilarating.

Realizing this, Kokabiel didn't panic or look around wildly.

Suppressing the excitement boiling in his chest, he immediately drew his ten wings inward, wrapping them tightly around himself.

He was, after all, a fallen angel cadre who had survived the Great War of the Three Factions.

Even if his strength didn't match Azazel or Sirzechs, his combat experience was immense.

How to deal with speed-type enemies. Power-type enemies. All-rounders.

Those instincts were carved into his bones. Time had not dulled them.

Sure enough-

The moment Kokabiel fully curled up, an overwhelming force detonated above his head.

Boom!

The black sphere slammed into the ground like a fired projectile, carving out a bottomless crater in Kuoh Academy's schoolyard.

Cracks spread outward in an instant, devouring broken branches, trees, and nearby facilities.

Incidentally-

One Valper included.

"Lint, save me!"

"Well... as expected, I'm still not used to aerial combat."

Landing on the ground, Hiro clenched his right fist, muttering with mild dissatisfaction.

That punch had looked powerful, but it hadn't even unleashed half his strength.

In the original story, Serafall could shatter the Red Dragon Emperor's Balance Breaker armor with raw physical power alone.

Let alone the current Hiro, clad in the same armor.

And the skill Innate Physical Prowess++-which had seemed unimpressive at first-now displayed strength far beyond a simple addition when combined with his current physique.

"That's right! That's how it should be!"

Whoosh-

The gale from beating wings dispersed the dust.

Kokabiel reappeared, disheveled but without serious injuries.

"That's it! This is it! This is the fight I wanted!"

After letting out a fanatical roar, Kokabiel's wings trembled.

Wrapped in boundless light, his entire body shot straight toward Hiro.

Time Stop. Five-times acceleration.

In Hiro's vision, everything slowed dozens-no, hundreds-of times.

Even Kokabiel, once incredibly swift, now moved like a crawling turtle.

Time Stop was practically cheating against warriors or magic fighters like him.

Within the storm of light, Hiro precisely avoided every light spear, light lance, and light shield surrounding Kokabiel.

As realization dawned too late in Kokabiel's eyes, Hiro clenched his right fist.

Compressing the Sea King Fist he had once obtained into a single blow, he drove it straight into Kokabiel's face-

Boom!!

The collision between armor and cheek erupted with an explosive sound, a testament to how thick Kokabiel's skin truly was.

In the next instant, the ten-winged fallen angel was sent flying backward at high speed, wings spread wide.
