Chapter 5 - Is This World Also a Prehistoric World?

Shu Feng walked around the commoner area of the Kingdom of Sun for a while, getting a grasp on the market and current situation of the world. He stood out quite a bit with his clothes being all clean and different in fashion, and made a couple of bucks by selling some beef jerky he brought with him.

He didn't sell all of it, and is currently munching down on one as he made his way to the nearest tavern.

Taverns are a great place to overhear others' conversations and get some grasp on the world, and Shu Feng entered a basic tavern that held over a couple of dozen people.

All the buildings here were made out of wood, so Shu Feng pushed open the wooden door and immediately smelt the scent of hard liquor.

Ugh, if it wasn't just so I can overhear some hunters' experiences and get a better grip of the animals here, I wouldn't even bother to step into a run down shit shack. Shu Feng complained, but still walked in with a smile on his face.

Walking in, he walked straight to the front and sat down on a stool. He then took out one silver from his right and put it down on the table and looked at the bartender and said, "Your weakest shot."

The bartender took a look at Shu Feng and then took the silver and nodded at him.

A few people around Shu Feng snickered, but didn't say anything insulting and went back to their own conversations.

"Haha! You wouldn't believe the bitch I caught today! It was a thirty meter tall T-Rex! I even took it down without any preparation." One short man said with a scruffy beard.

"Old Shao, quit bragging. Well everyone knows you're trying to save face for your wife's family." Another said, with a tall muscular build.

"Oscar, what do you know about family?" Old Shao said, his face getting a little gloomy.

"I love my wife and her side of the family, but I'll never brag about my kills! It wasn't like I hunted that one hundred meter giant that roams the skies." Old Shao said, shaking his head as he took a sip of his drink.

"It's really unimaginable how those creatures don't cultivate yet have the power to contend with us cultivators. I'm afraid if we didn't have Qi, we would've gone long instincted." Old Shao sighed.

"Old Shao, why think about such things? With the blessing of the celestials that roam the sky, the kingdom can be protected by Golden Core cultivators! Who cares about how they can fight us without Qi. As long as we humans use them as food, nothing else matters." Oscar said, skipping over the bragging his friend did.

He knew talking about his kill would only make the situation worse, therefore changed the subject by continuing a point that his friend brought up.

Shu Feng listened to their conversation, and learnt something special.

Animals cannot cultivate Qi. I already knew that, but what's up with the word "T-Rex?" Please for the love of god it's not what I'm imagining it to be.

Shu Feng gulped slightly, and the bartender gave him his drink that he ordered. The drink had a herb like smell to it and was greenish in colour.

Shu Feng thanked her and took a sip, and almost spat it out.

Damn the alcohol here is horrible! It almost tastes like tea! Seems like I should prepare my own.

But if this world is really a prehistoric world with god damn dinosaurs, I wonder about the shock of my world when I take out the bones of one of them and hand it over? Probably not a good idea. Those geeks will be able to tell the age of the bone by the god damn smell of it or something.

Shu Feng took another forceful sip of his drink. He spent over two thousand Yuan on this thing, and he's going to get his worth out of it.

Meanwhile Shu Feng fights a life and death battle with the terrible alcohol in the world of Starlight, the group of people who he was overhearing were still chatting.

"Oscar, you think too simply." The third person in the group spoke.

"For us who have children, especially if they're male, they're expected to be hunters when they grow up. Only by gaining reputations and contacts can we send one of them off to a school where they can teach them techniques that use Qi. Us loose folks use unconventional means to hunt our prey even though we have Qi. You're quite lucky, Oscar. With your fancy spear technique that can hunt the birds in the sky, you don't have to worry about hunting the prey on the ground, which are many times more terrifying than the ones in the sky."

The third person in their group was missing an arm and an eye, clearly showing that he's been through hell and back.

"Ah, Jack. Although I have this spear technique, there are others who want it as well." Oscar said, shaking his head with a sigh.

"Indeed. That technique is the ultimate treasure to us cultivators." Jack said while taking a shot.

"But you're now at the ninth realm of Qi cultivation. Once you step into the foundation realm, you can run a city within the kingdom, and you won't have to worry about pests bothering you."

Oscar shook his head hearing that.

"Foundation Realm? That's something even the kings skip over. Polishing the Qi within you over and over again is tedious and gives almost no benefits to your strength. It at most helps with your breakthroughs in the future, but do you think I can enter the Nascent Soul Realm and increase my life span by two hundred years? I sure don't."

Shu Feng brows picked up when he heard that the Nascent Soul Realm allows you to live over three hundred years.

So does the Foundation and Golden Core Realm not increase your life span? Does this have something to do with the soul of the human body? In all the novels I read, the Foundation Realm allows you to live at least two hundred years, and the Golden Core Realm can live for at least five hundred. I guess breaking through the human limit here is difficult. But I should be fine and could probably be able to achieve immortality with my system, so I shouldn't care about increasing my life span short term, but understand and build a solid foundation for the future.

Maybe I should use other worlds as a base when I enter the Foundation Realm, and use the two worlds' knowledge to build a perfect foundation.

Shu Feng's eyes gleamed as he thought of the possibilities of the distant future.
