"Is this a forest?" He wondered.
He looked around in awe and surprise.
There were two apartment buildings, each with two floors, and a massive forest surrounded them.
Trees all around, and he could even see the fauna of the ecosystem.
He wondered if this was all an illusion, or if they really just dug up acres of land underground.
The latter was simply impossible because the Sun was still shining bright above his head.
Maybe it was teleportation?
But was teleportation supposed to be this seamless?
He saw many other people wandering the premises of those two buildings, ages ranging from as low as sixteen to as high as 27.
He was in the middle of the pack there.
'If it turns out that my sister forgot to inform me about this as well,' He bit his lips, acting normal.
He didn't want to appear 'shocked', like a bumpkin, even though he very well was.
The assigned room to him was B-109.
And the buildings were clearly labeled with A and B.
Walking inside, passing through other likely participants, he took the stairs.
As he walked in the corridor, he reached a wooden door with a clear label on top.
B-109.
Click!
He opened the room, only to see another person already inside.
Hairs, brown and well-trimmed, with light green eyes.
He was quite handsome and had the aura of being laid-back around him.
His actions made him seem like a chill person all around.
The type who are serious but also fun to be around.
'This guy?' Raven's eyes widened, seeing the guy look up at the ceiling in a daze.
Before he could say anything, the other guy said, "Are you assigned to be my duo?"
"Duo?" Raven asked, making his way inside.
The guy stood up from his chair, revealing his surprisingly tall stature.
"You don't know?"
Dazedly standing up from the chair, he finally looked at the new person who entered the room.
"Raven?" His voice no longer felt lethargic.
His body tensed up, and Raven's lips curled up at sight.
"Long time no see, Pevon." He sat on his own bed, signaling him to sit on the other bed.
"Hah! It has," Pevon relaxed, chuckling at the absurdity of the situation.
What were the chances?
"Haven't seen you since you beat up Jayden."
"What," He stared him in the eyes, "Do you want revenge?"
Revon snickered, letting his body fall on the bed.
"Nah, I couldn't care less about him anymore," He said, his voice as carefree as it came, "He deserved that anyway."
"He would be sad to hear that, you know?" Raven asked, silently hinting at something.
"He used to abuse his power so much before that."
Pevon Fusco himself was a scion of the Fusco Barony, but because Viscount Pittman held so much power, he was forced to be under Jayden.
"Do you not fear he would retaliate if I tell him this?" Raven asked, wondering what the situation was now.
Pfft!
Hahaha!
Pevon started laughing, snickering as if he had cracked a joke there.
"You probably don't know since you were cooped up inside your house for such a long time, but," He stood back up, staring at him back, "Jayden was sent to Marquis Dasilva to become a knight."
"So basically out of the succession war?"
Pevon nodded.
"Losing to you in a 'duel' made him lose a lot of face in social gatherings than you might think."
'Nobles and their bullshit,' Raven shook his head in disappointment.
Was it really that serious?
"Enough about Jayden," He said, his interest dwindling, "What is this about duo?"
"I am surprised you don't know about that," Pevon said, turning around and trying to find something below his pillow.
"I don't know anything, in all honesty." Raven sighed, chuckling at his situation.
"I didn't even know how I ended up in a forest from the basement of the church."
"Did Cardinal Eve not inform you of something?" He handed Raven a piece of paper.
"She even forgot about my documents, and you are talking about this?" He grumbled.
Pevon was slightly bemused.
"Cardinal Eve did?" He couldn't believe his ears.
Wasn't she supposed to be…
But then he realized he was merely stereotyping her.
Sure, she was powerful and amazing, but that didn't mean she was perfect.
"Well, she is a human being too."
Raven started reading the piece of paper in his hand.
It was filled with the basic instructions and information for the test that was about to happen.
There was also the instruction that your roommate would be your duo for the duo tests that were about to happen.
And there was also the information about a four-person team event, with them joining another duo.
They would be the corresponding people from the room of the second building.
Meaning, they would team up with the people from A-109.
There was also the fact that today was the last date for entrance here.
He was totally thinking of resting today before contacting Eve back.
Thank God, he didn't.
"What was that about the forest under the chapel thing?" Raven asked, still curious since that paper didn't contain information about that.
"Oh, that?" He said, "If you thought this was a teleportation, then you would be wrong."
"But it doesn't make any sense for such a huge area to be under a busy city like this." Raven sounded confused.
Tch! tch!
He wiggled his fingers, signaling he was wrong.
"It was an illusion."
"This building feels very real, though?"
Maybe this world's magic was way more advanced than he thought.
Maybe spatial magic did exist, and this was one of its doings.
Or maybe the illusion was so powerful that it brought things to reality.
But who here was casting such a powerful magic?
"Wrong again," Debunking all of his thoughts, he spoke.
"This tunnel was dozens of miles long," He revealed the answer, "You just didn't feel the time passing as you walked inside."
"Doesn't this mean if one doesn't have enough stamina, they would collapse from exhaustion?"
"Well," Pevon shrugged, "Consider this as a part of the test as well."
'Crazy.'
He sighed, still not accustomed to how crazy this world could be.
An awkward silence dawned upon the room, as Pevon asked, "So, what's the plan for the remaining time?"
Raven looked at him, his left eyebrow raised with a grin on his face, "What else?"
He let his body free-fall onto the bed.
"Sleep, of course."
Heh!
Pevon chuckled, falling on the bed as well.
"Nice idea."
