Chapter 48: The Beginning of Rebellion!

Naruto lowered his hands from the mirror, studying the slightly charming yet handsome face reflected back at him. A slow smile spread across his features.

Not just Kotoamatsukami—my dynamic vision and other senses have been enhanced too. I wonder if I can replicate ninjutsu now?

If pre-Mangekyō Naruto could track the flight path of mosquitoes, post-implantation Naruto could now see the individual hairs on a mosquito's legs while it flew!

What an exaggeration!

Let Konoha feel the pain, starting now! He wanted those old dogs to taste the finest quality rice!

How many floors can a bag of rice withstand?!

On the other side, the Root Base.

10:00 PM.

The once orderly Root facility now lay in ruins. Smoke billowed through collapsed corridors, the endless sound of crumbling debris filled the air, and the ground was littered with gruesome fragments of ninja corpses and congealing blood.

A few fortunate survivors wailed in agony—some missing limbs, others suffering severe burns, all in various states of horrific injury. The scene resembled hell on earth.

Any ordinary person witnessing this would have been traumatized for life.

The surviving ninjas periodically cried out Danzō's name. Even in their dire state, their first concern was whether Shimura Danzō had survived.

The miserable Danzō hung inverted from the ceiling above, his expression twisted with fury as he surveyed the war-torn devastation below.

On his pale right arm, one of the ten ferocious-looking Sharingan eyes slowly closed...

Izanagi.

A technique that could transform real damage into illusion—even death itself.

An immensely powerful life-saving ninjutsu.

The price: permanent blindness of one Sharingan eye.

That was how Danzō had survived the catastrophic Tailed Beast Ball explosion moments earlier.

...

Danzō gritted his teeth, suppressing the overwhelming murderous rage boiling within him.

Releasing the chakra adhering him to the ceiling, he skillfully manipulated Wind Release chakra nature transformation, floating slowly down through the smoky air.

Tap.

This single movement demonstrated Danzō's masterful control over Wind Release techniques.

Upon landing, his feet settled on scorched earth. The omnipresent stench of burned flesh and gunpowder smoke assaulted his senses. Even with Danzō's decades of cultivated composure, he could endure no longer.

His face contorted into a vicious snarl as he hissed through clenched teeth: "Damnable beast! I swear... I will never let you go!"

"I will make you taste every agony this world has to offer..."

"I'll make you..."

The surviving Root members, seeing their leader alive, immediately scrambled to Danzō's side. They knelt on the ground, heads bowed, awaiting orders.

Seeing the diminished force around him, veins bulged on Danzō's forehead.

With barely contained irritation, he issued rapid commands: "Casualty count! Treat the wounded! Assess financial damages! Inform the Hokage—I demand an immediate meeting! Tell him this constitutes an S-class threat!"

Hearing this, the Root members trembled.

An S-class meeting in Konoha Village—equivalent to an S-rank mission emergency!

An S-rank mission carried a minimum bounty of 200 million ryō, reserved for situations involving village secrets, daimyō assassination, top-secret document theft, or other extreme crises.

A meeting at this level hadn't been convened since the Nine-Tails Rebellion and the previous Uchiha clan unrest.

How long had it been?

Though shocked, they moved without hesitation. Lingering now would be like holding a lantern in a latrine—suicidal.

Their figures vanished instantly, coordinating to execute Danzō's orders.

Once the dozens of surrounding Root operatives had dispersed...

Danzō's clenched fist—which seemed capable of killing an ox—slowly relaxed. He flicked his tattered sleeve and disappeared from the spot.

He needed to change clothes, then proceed directly to the Hokage Building to confront Sarutobi Hiruzen!

Uchiha Clan District.

A half-crescent moon hung in the sky, casting a cool silver light. The Uchiha clan, who should have been asleep at this late hour, had instead gathered at the Naka Shrine.

Naka Shrine was a forbidden area within the Uchiha clan, opened only for the most critical clan meetings.

Furthermore, only Uchiha ninjas of acceptable strength were permitted to attend such gatherings!

Of course, when Uchiha Madara—before his defection—had been clan leader, no such restrictions existed. He could convene meetings wherever he pleased, ruling with absolute authority.

Speaking of his betrayal...

During Konoha's founding era, after losing the Hokage election to Hashirama, compounded by their ideological clash, Madara had proposed abandoning the hard-won peace and returning to the nomadic warfare of the Warring States period.

There was simply no alternative. The dream of peace was within reach. Madara had been prepared to merge with Hashirama—their combined Susano'o-encased Thousand-Handed Buddha could have subdued the other four great nations. How perfect would that have been?

But at this critical juncture, Hashirama insisted on bowing to others in exchange for false peace, even distributing captured tailed beasts to them. Who could tolerate such weakness?

At least Uchiha Madara couldn't!

So Uchiha Madara left in fury, leading to the legendary battle at the Valley of the End!

That confrontation had terrified even shadow-level powerhouses like Kakuzu hundreds of miles away.

Thus, clan power had become largely distributed among several elders.

Authority had fragmented significantly. The Uchiha clan could not risk another clan leader who might betray them.

Of course, Fugaku still commanded considerable respect within the clan—his reputation remained quite high. He had not only been elected by Uchiha members but also demonstrated genuine willingness to listen to his clansmen's thoughts, even when pressured by opposing factions!

On the elevated platform at Naka Shrine's entrance stood a stern-faced man wearing a green flak jacket, exuding dignified presence.

Behind him sat three elderly men with ancient, weathered faces, appearing even more imposing than Fugaku himself!

This was the unique aura of leaders long accustomed to authority.

Below the steps stood over eight hundred clan members!

Among them, more than one hundred ninjas occupied the front rows.

Any Hyūga clansman with Byakugan present would have instantly recognized: every one of them was jonin-level!

Nearly all one hundred possessed the three-tomoe Sharingan—the elite among elites!

Over one hundred Uchiha at jonin strength was nearly unimaginable!

The ninjas behind them were all chūnin—virtually no genin-strength shinobi were present.

But this was unsurprising for Konoha's most powerful clan. Such capability was expected.

After all, Konoha Village housed over two thousand ninjas total, with numerous exceptional talents among them.
