Chapter 2 - Vorax

When I woke up the next morning, I felt extremely cold, as if I had slept outside in the snow. I remembered what happened the previous afternoon in the tunnel and how I was attacked by that thing that then disappeared.

A part of my brain said it was something important, but I couldn't place it. I thought it was from my memories, but they were all still there, and there was no change.

Entering the bathroom, I started to take off my clothes before looking at myself in the mirror. Staring intently, something changed. It was only for an instant, but beneath my face appeared a huge mouth full of fangs and penetrating blue eyes.

Blinking, I noticed my face was normal.

"This thing is going to drive me crazy," I murmured aloud.

"Kaito, are you awake?" my mother called from the living room.

"Yes, I'll be down in a few minutes," I responded to my mother while deciding to put what I saw aside for the moment.

After a shower, I returned to my room.

"Your room is quite small, isn't it?" I heard a deep voice that resonated everywhere and nowhere at the same time. "It's quite... strange."

"Who said that?" I asked, looking around. "Great, I'm going crazy."

"No, you're not," said the voice. "I'm here with you."

Feeling something on my back, I looked to the side, seeing how several blackened strands intertwined around themselves, forming a neck, followed by a head that took on a strange shape similar to a goat's head with sharp teeth. Its color was black with small red spots, and its eyes were large, sharp, and blue.

"Hello, Kaito, or should I say Reincarnated. It's good we can finally meet face to face, or something like that." The symbiote hissed as it moved like a snake.

"Who are you?" I asked the symbiote.

"Have you already forgotten your second wish? I am Vorax, and you are mine," he introduced himself while extending until he was in front of me. "You have courage, pride, and a lot of potential. You don't let anyone intimidate you, and you're sensible. We'll get along well."

"Wait, you're the symbiote I asked for? Why now, after 14 years?" I asked, looking at Vorax, who just smiled.

"There are things you need to know about this dimension," Vorax hissed while sliding to my left side. "This dimension isn't exactly as you remember. There are changes."

"Changes? What kind of changes?"

"Symbiotes and Knull," he answered my question.

Hearing that, I opened my eyes in shock.

"I don't know why you're surprised. By making a wish, the rules of the universe were altered, and with that, a replacement was sought, which came in the form of Knull."

"What exactly do you mean?" I asked, but he only began to retreat back into my body.

"That's all I'm going to say. I'll tell you more later. So for now, let's cooperate, partner." With those final words, Vorax finally disappeared.

"What a symbiote partner," I commented while deciding to change clothes to go have breakfast. It was Saturday, so I would have this day and tomorrow free.

After eating three times more food than normal, I felt full.

"Son, are you okay? I heard a lot of noise upstairs," my mother asked.

"It's nothing, Mom. I just tripped over some things," I said, lying a little.

My mother looked at me for a few seconds before nodding her head.

"Okay." Then she looked at the time on her phone. "It's late. I need to go to work now. I'll be back later," she said while putting on her purse to go to work. "You know what to do," she said before opening the door. "I love you."

"I love you too, Mom," I said goodbye as the door closed.

"I didn't think you'd be so close to that human," commented Vorax after a long moment of silence.

"She's my mom. She raised me in this life."

"Yes, I know," commented Vorax.

"Now that we're going to be partners, we need to talk about my strengths and weaknesses," Vorax said, his head materializing again, although unlike the first time, it was more aesthetic than before.

"My abilities, I'm sure you already have an idea. As for weaknesses, besides high heat temperatures, there are certain chemical compounds that are harmful to us," Vorax informed.

"So there's no need to eat heads?" I asked.

"No, although I can do that too, but it would be more for the pleasure of doing it, you understand?"

"No eating heads."

"I make no promises." Vorax paused. "We need to work together. Your body is already trained, so what's left is battle experience, and you're lucky. I'm good at battle."

"Really?"

"Yes. Just wait until tonight." With that said, Vorax withdrew, returning to my interior again.

...

Later that same night, late at night, I left several pillows on my bed and covered them with my sheet to give the impression that I was sleeping.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I noticed my clothes were completely dark with a cloth mask covering my face.

"You look ridiculous with that," commented Vorax in my head.

"It's so they don't know who I am."

"That's unnecessary," he commented mockingly.

"So how is this?" I asked the symbiote.

"It's simple. Just let me take control."

Suddenly, I felt something cover my entire body. My height grew, now reaching two meters tall, surrounded by a muscular body.

"I see this isn't your style," commented Vorax, feeling his host's discomfort.

"I prefer a more minimalist style adapted to my size," I responded from within.

Vorax nodded while his body trembled and changed until it left a smaller but equally compact suit.

It was a full-body suit in black that showed off my incredible physique. On the upper part, I wore a kind of large coat made of the same substance that ended at the back just below my knees. The front had a spider-web design. My fingers had three-inch-long claws, along with a blade on the elbow, as well as cool boots. I had a mask that had Vorax's eyes and a hood that was actually his mouth.

"Do you like it?" asked Vorax.

"Are you kidding? I love the design," I said honestly.

"Good. We're on the same page," he said while opening the window after creating a tentacle, then forcefully pulled me out, where I landed on the street.

Vorax guided my body, and I ran like a quadruped before making a huge leap over the roofs of the houses.

Landing on one, I continued running until jumping to a height of 50 meters.

"This feeling is amazing," I said, feeling how my adrenaline spread throughout my being.

Hearing a scream with Vorax's enhanced hearing, we both moved. Thanks to the symbiosis, we moved as one body.

Landing on the roof of a building, I stopped on the wall with my arms and legs, looking down where I saw a teenage girl who was being surrounded by three villains.

The first was a tentacle-looking guy, the second was a mud man, and the third was a tall guy carrying a knife with a disgusting smile on his face.

"Stop screaming if you don't want this to get worse!" threatened the octopus man.

"Now do what we say and take off your panties," said the knife guy.

"Do we attack now?"

"Yes."

Letting myself fall to the ground, I made an audible sound, calling the attention of the three villains. They looked at me confused.

"And who the hell are you?" asked the knife guy.

"I am Vorax." With that, I kicked the guy against the wall. The impact was strong enough to crack the wall.

Of course, I didn't use all my strength, or I would have blown half his body away.

The tentacle villain launched his limbs, but Vorax anticipated, creating neon blade tentacles that he moved, cutting the villain's tentacles.

Walking towards him, I gave him an uppercut directly to his jaw, sending him a few meters into the sky before he fell into some trash containers.

Finally, the third mud guy took the girl hostage.

"Don't come closer, or I'll kill her," he said with fear.

The girl looked at me with tears in her eyes. Her eyes were full of desperation; she wanted me to save her.

"How fast can you move?" I asked the symbiote. His response came a moment later.

"Very fast." Vorax controlled the body and disappeared from the villain's sight. An instant later, the villain was confused because he no longer had the girl. He looked at the space in his arms, and the next thing he knew, his body exploded into pieces of mud scattered everywhere.

After rescuing the girl and kicking the villain, I left the girl on the ground, where she looked at me with gratitude.

"Thank you for s-saving me, sir," she said, still crying, but her voice was full of relief.

"Be more careful next time," I said while walking toward the shadows.

"Sir, what's your name?"

"I am Vorax, and I'm a Vigilante." With that, I ran along a path, jumping onto the wall where I climbed until jumping onto the roof, disappearing from view.

Arriving at the top of another building, I looked at the city from the heights. The wind moved the kind of coat made from Vorax.

"This world isn't so bad... it's beautiful," said Vorax, looking at the city.

"I say the same."

"Enough contemplation. Let's keep hunting villains."

"I prefer the term defeating," I contradicted.

"Whatever... Shall we jump?" offered Vorax.

"You read my mind." And with that, I jumped into the void to continue the hunt as a nocturnal vigilante.

...

It was Monday morning, and I was very sleepy. I hadn't slept at all during these two days while I went out to defeat villains in the city late at night. Rumors about a black-clad vigilante began to circulate on the internet about how he defeated villains in seconds and disappeared without a trace.

While walking to school still half-asleep.

While walking, Vorax manifested in his head form while creating two tentacles and using them as arms to access the internet and see the latest news about the nocturnal vigilante who appeared two days ago.

"Seems we're famous?" said Vorax with doubt. "Listen to this."

"Two days ago, a new vigilante appeared who calls himself Vorax. His identity is shrouded in mystery. It is not known who is behind the mask, but in just two days, he has contributed to the capture of 27 villains in the city of Musutafu. According to witnesses, the strange vigilante defeats them in seconds and leaves at great speed. Could he be a new hero or a villain?" he finished reading.

"We gained quite a bit of attention. Now the heroes will start looking for us."

"Don't worry about that. We're stronger than most heroes combined. We wouldn't have any problem dealing with those weaklings."

"That's true, but it would cause problems, especially if All Might appears."

"Although I found it strange that you decided to appear out of nowhere in the middle of breakfast and introduce yourself to my mom," I said, rolling my eyes.

"Yeah, she sure got a scare," he commented with a toothy smile full of amusement, although it looked more like a murderous grimace than a smile.

"Yes, but about you being my Quirk that developed late... Who would believe that?"

"Just look around you, Kaito," he said, pointing to the passersby with different shape-shifting Quirks. "A talking head isn't the strangest thing in this world," he pointed out with a valid point.

"Fine," I nodded, finally arriving at school while Vorax decided to return to my interior.

Arriving at my classroom, I headed to my chair, which was next to Izuku's.

"Izuku," I greeted the green-haired kid who was muttering to himself.

The green-haired kid raised his face before blinking and noticing I had called him.

"Sorry, Kaito, but I was concentrating on something," he said.

"I can tell," I commented, looking at his notebook.

"What are you writing?"

"It's about the vigilante called Vorax. Since he appeared two days ago, he showed abilities never before seen with Quirks. He can manipulate his body as if it were a kind of moldable mass, and then..."

"I must give credit to the broccoli; he's smart," commented Vorax, his voice resonating in my head.

"You two Quirkless!" shouted an angry voice. Both of us looked back and saw it was Bakugou.

"Kaachan," said Izuku, frightened.

"Stop talking, shitty nerd—"

Bakugo didn't finish because Vorax appeared from my back and extended, opening his mouth, showing a row of sharp teeth at Bakugo, who stepped back in fear.

"Shut up, you walking Pomeranian! Your screams are annoying!" threatened Vorax. This surprised the whole class, including Izuku.

"What the hell is that parasite?" shouted Bakugou. At this, I brought a hand to my head while a tentacle came out of my back and threw Bakugo against the chairs.

"Who are you calling a parasite, you miserable human?!" he shouted furiously. "The next time you call me a parasite, I'll rip your head off and give it to the lobsters."

After what Vorax said, Bakugo trembled with fear from Vorax's murderous instinct.

"Is that clear?" he asked, approaching Bakugou, who nodded, not trusting his own voice to respond.

"Good." With that, he withdrew into my body.

"Sorry about that. That's my Quirk, and it has a mind of its own. Oh, by the way, his name is Vorax, and he gets angry if you call him that," I explained as if it weren't important.

"This changes nothing, Kaito," said Bakugo, recovering his pride. "I'll teach you your place sooner or later."

After the scandal, the teacher arrived, where everyone decided to pay attention in class and ignore what happened minutes before.

At the end of classes, I decided to accompany the green-haired kid since he would likely be the victim of Bakugou's anger, as Vorax's demonstration/intimidation made him realize he was already in a different league.

As expected, Bakugo pointed at Izuku, but since I was with him, he decided to discard his intimidation of the green-haired kid.

"Hey, Kaito, how long have you had your Quirk?" asked Izuku.

"Actually, I awakened it recently. From what I researched, it was a late Quirk awakening. It's strange that it happened," I explained honestly.

"I see," said Izuku with interest.

"And how exactly does it work? Are there two consciousnesses, or is it one, or does it work differently?" he asked.

At this, Vorax materialized.

"We are two different consciousnesses," responded Vorax. "Tell me, Izuku, do you know what symbiosis is?" asked Vorax, to which the boy nodded.

"Isn't it when two different life forms come together to compensate for each other's weaknesses, like the anemone and the clownfish?" he said with some doubt.

"Exactly," Vorax nodded in affirmation. "We have that type of symbiosis," he said.

"Interesting," murmured the green-haired kid, starting to write in his notebook at high speed.

Upon leaving the tunnel, I decided to return home and left Izuku, who returned to his own house. If I remembered correctly, in these days, he should meet All Might after the sludge villain attack and later receive One for All from All Might.

There were 10 months left until the U.A. entrance exam.

"....."

That same night, late at night, I was jumping—well, it's more correct to say Vorax was in charge of the body while I was in my own thoughts.

"Is something wrong, Kaito?" Vorax stopped on a wall column. "You've been quiet for a while."

"Eh, yes, I'm fine. I'm just thoughtful, that's all," I said while paying attention to my surroundings.

We had gone out to continue the vigilante work to reduce crime. This would attract the attention of the police and heroes alike, but I already have a cover.

It was quite simple. Once I enter U.A., I'll ask Vorax to modify the suit a bit, or just use parts of it so there's no connection, although I also had two other plans if plan A doesn't work.

"You're doing it again," commented Vorax, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Doing what?"

"Spacing out," he responded with a growl.

"Hmm. There's not much activity today," I decided to change the topic since I didn't want to argue with Vorax at this time.

"Do you think they're intimidated?"

"No."

Vorax jumped to another building while climbing to the top to have a better view of the city panorama.

"What's that?" I asked, looking toward a somewhat distant part of the city, seeing how a villain was chasing something.

Without waiting for an indication, Vorax began to advance, following the villain.

After a minute of pursuit, he stopped on the wall of a building, hidden under the shadows projected by the buildings. It was a dead-end alley; the only exit was being occupied by the villain.

"Why would a villain be alone in this place?" I asked, squinting my eyes.

"I don't know, but it's better to be alert just in case," growled Vorax, tensing his body, ready to attack or escape if necessary.

"Seems someone else has arrived," commented Vorax, seeing how a hooded figure had entered the alley and was talking to the guy.

"I can't hear anything."

"Can you?"

"No, at this distance and height, it's difficult. We'll have to find a better angle without being detected."

Like a silent viper, Vorax approached a little more, staying in the shadows until reaching a distance where we could hear the conversation.

"Take it. Here's the agreed payment."

"So little? I remind you this order isn't simple, not to mention the security that will be at the place," commented the hooded figure.

"That's not my problem. I pay you to do the mission. How you do it isn't my problem," responded the villain.

"Tsk, you damn money men only know how to give orders and pay."

"And guys like you just stay quiet and do the work. That's why I pay you," responded the villain. Then he put his hand in his pants pocket and took out a photo.

"Vorax, is there any way to look at the photograph more closely?"

"Give me a second."

Vorax transformed the head of the suit into the head of a falcon, where he focused his sight, allowing us to see the image in the photo.

'Wait, she's from the main cast. Black hair, black eyes, curvaceous body. Yes, it's Momo Yaoyorozu,' I thought while continuing to listen to the conversation.

"I trust you'll do your job," the man said as he began to leave.

"As long as you pay me," with that, the hooded figure left the alley.

"So we discovered a kidnapping plan," commented the symbiote as he began to climb the concrete wall to the roof.

"What do you say, Vorax? Want to play spy?" I asked him.

I felt Vorax give a smile in anticipation.

"Sounds fun." With that, we followed the hooded figure until we reached a more dangerous part of the city where he entered a building that looked like a bar.

"Seems he's going to gather allies. Do we attack?"

"No, better we wait."

"You're boring, Kaito."

"Just trust me. I have a plan in mind that will give us a boost, as well as fun," I said while deciding to take control, which Vorax yielded. Then we decided to return to my home.

The following days would be quite long, especially the nights.

The next morning, I checked my phone and saw the news about the sludge villain incident where All Might appeared and saved the day.

'So All Might has already decided that Izuku will be his successor. Good.' After finishing that thought, I noticed the green-haired kid entered. He seemed more excited than the day before.

"Hi, Kaito, Vorax," greeted the green-haired kid.

"Hi, kid," greeted Vorax, coming out of my back.

"Hi, Izuku," I also greeted.

"Hey, do you know who the Yaoyorozus are?" I asked casually.

Izuku was taking out his books but still responded.

"I don't know much. I only know they're a rich family that handles large constructions," responded the freckled one.

"Why do you ask?"

"Simple curiosity."

Typing something on my phone, I frowned a little since there was no information about the Yaoyorozu complex. I knew they were in the city of Musutafu, but where exactly, I didn't know. I needed to find out the location to start surveilling.

Classes started, where for the most part, I didn't pay attention and just watched as I always do, as if I were concentrated in class but in reality, I wasn't.

After classes, I was walking back home. Vorax came out from my back.

"I think I came up with a plan to find out the location of the Yaoyorozus," commented the symbiote since there was no one around.

"Really? How?"

"I can split into smaller parts, or clone myself to a certain extent, and control it mentally," said Vorax.

"Right, I forgot about that fact. But how exactly does it work?" I asked.

"It's simple. I pass a part of myself and control the host remotely, but the part I divide will possess a part of my consciousness and will be connected to me until I reabsorb it." Vorax paused. "Although they're not good for fighting, only for gathering information."

"That's quite useful," I commented, surprised.

"Do it, but first we need information about the leader of the Yaoyorozus and manage to infiltrate to leave a part of you," I pointed out.

"There's no problem with that. Your mother will be late, right?" asked Vorax, a smile forming on his face.

"Yes."

"Well then, let's go now."

Entering an alley without anyone seeing us, Vorax covered me.

Then we jumped onto the roof.

Taking out my phone, I searched for information about the Yaoyorozu company, which, to my bad luck, was in another city, precisely in the city of Osa.

"Before we go, let's eat something," said Vorax.

"I agree. Chocolates and chips?" I offered the symbiote, who agreed.

After a quick meal, I decided to take the train to the city of Osa. It would be a journey of an hour and a half.

After an hour and thirty minutes, we finally arrived in the city just as the sun was about to set.

After being covered by Vorax and knowing the location of the Yaoyorozu building, I let Virax take care of the rest.

He landed in front of a pigeon, grabbed it, then inserted something of himself into it. At first, the pigeon became agitated and writhed before its body was controlled by Vorax.

"All done," he said simply.

"That's all?"

"Yes."

"I feel cheated. We could have done it from Musutafu instead of coming all the way here," I complained.

"Stop crying like a baby," responded Vorax.

While his other self, "pigeon," began to fly through the skies.

An hour later, a black van surrounded by two black cars came out, where we guessed that's where the leader of the Yaoyorozu company was.

The pigeon followed the cars from the sky without drawing attention.

"Let's go," said Vorax.

"My other self will pass me information if it's important."

Giving a nod, I began to run, jumping from the building to the wall of another where I began to climb it.

Soon we were doing the same action.

After taking the train back to the city of Musutafu, I fell exhausted on my bed. It was 8 at night, and I spent too much energy, although Vorax was already making me recover quite quickly.

(Time skip of two days)

"Something is happening." Vorax stopped me while I was sitting on top of a villain who was quite large. If I guessed his Quirk, it consisted of increasing his size and strength, although he was an idiot.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"It seems it's happening right now. The car where that girl was being escorted was assaulted by several villains who took her away in a white van," Vorax informed.

"That was quite fast," I commented while jumping onto the concrete wall, then gave another jump, arriving at the roof just in time for the arrival of the police.

"I thought it would take a week for them to do something and not just two days. Where are they now?"

"They're in the city of Osa, in the abandoned part, or so my other self tells me."

"Good, let's go." Standing up, Vorax created two large wings made of the material of his body.

"This way will be faster." Controlling the wings, we began to fly at supersonic speed above the clouds. At this speed, it would take us about 10 minutes to reach the city.

(Pov. Third Person)

In the most destroyed part of the city of Osa, part of a major villain attack orchestrated by the villain All for One, who was defeated by All Might.

Due to the great damage that sector suffered, it was classified as irreparable, and the population moved to the north, leaving that sector as an abandoned area.

Among the many buildings was a group of villains, totaling 20, who were patrolling the building, and another 20 were patrolling the surroundings in case heroes or police came.

Right in the middle part of a building was the daughter of the multimillionaire Mr. Yaoyorozu, Momo Yaoyorozu, who had her eyes blindfolded and her mouth gagged with a piece of cloth. Her hands were tied in such a way that it would be impossible for her to free herself even if she used her Quirk.

Momo moved from side to side, trying to make a sound so someone would come to save her.

Just an hour ago, she had been kidnapped after her bodyguards were killed and she was taken from the car.

She wondered what those guys would do with her. The mere thought of what they would do to her provoked great fear throughout her body and soul.

"It's useless to try to free yourself or try to talk."

Momo heard a voice she swore she had heard elsewhere but couldn't place where due to her stress.

"You know, they paid us a lot of money to kidnap you. It was really easy to do it. To think that the Yaoyorozus, despite their wealth, can't protect their progeny is a shame," the man's voice was full of feigned sadness.

"But it doesn't matter." The man approached the girl before grabbing her by the chin. "We still have time before my client arrives, so be a good prisoner and stay here, okay?" said the man, letting the girl fall to the floor.

The man brought his hand to his pocket and took out his phone, which was on silent.

"Yes, it's me..." The man paused while listening on the other side. "Yes, I have her with me."

"No, no one followed us."

"First make the payment, and I'll tell you where to meet."

"Do it, or the deal is off, and I'll send my men after you."

"That's more like it, my good client. The location is... I hope we meet soon."

After finishing his call, the man looked at his phone and smiled upon seeing the amount of money transferred to him.

"Good, guys, get ready for visitors," ordered the man to his lackeys while they followed, leaving only one to guard the girl.
