Chapter 21 - Maple Investment

Maple was feeling stunned. She had witnessed it firsthand, and how a seemingly normal farm animal burst out with power equal to that of a top-tier mythical beast and won the fight. It was way beyond normal.

At first, she had respected Raiden and was helping him because he possibly had some kind of relationship with their young miss, who ran away from home. But now it seemed as if this young man wasn't that simple either. So she made a decision herself.

Quickly approaching Raiden, who was standing in a 3-meter-wide crater with Woolie in his hands, she jumped off Little Greeny and approached him before pulling out a spray from her storage ring.

"Mr Raiden, please use this to administer some medicine on your partner. It is developed by our cooperation, and it works really well for all kinds of wounds and injuries."

Raiden looked at the medicine she was holding in her hands and thought for a moment before quietly thanking her. It didn't matter if it incurred more debt; saving Woolie came first.

As soon as he applied the spray, the effects of the medicine kicked in immediately, closing the wounds of Woolie's body with speed that can be seen with the naked eye.

'Damn it!! Another expensive item. I am getting more and more indebted to that Old Man Tobias. Even selling both of my kidneys might not be enough to pay him back now.' He thought as he saw how fast the medicine worked.

"Thank you, Miss Maple. And once again, I am really sorry. It is because of me that all this happened. I will cover all the damages that have occurred here." He promised with an earnest voice.

"Are you sure, Mr Raiden? That beast that your Woolie fought was called Golden Bison, and this one was the special one, a natural-born King, Golden Bison King. He alone costs more than a million credits." Maple responded in an amused voice, making Raiden flinch.

As if not noticing his discomfort, she continued to speak. "Not to mention all the destruction the fight between your Woolie and him caused. Just look at the crater we are standing in right now. Look at the destruction around us. Restoring this ecological part will cost us at least another million credits, you know."

Raiden was speechless. Her words were indeed correct as he noticed the destruction. It completely changed the typography of the place. But he was sure as hell that it didn't cost such much.

This lass definitely had an ulterior motive, and he knew he couldn't do anything about it, since he was one in the wrong. It was his family's wastrel son who caused the damage. He, as a father, needed to step up and take care of the responsibility and clean up after him.

"Alright, Miss Maple, please stop playing with me. You know I am dirt poor. What do you want? At most, I can sell both of my kidneys to you to pay back the debt. Is that what you want? To scam out the kidneys of a poor teenage kid? They are not even developed yet. I am not even sure if you will be able to sell them in the market."

Raiden spoke in a forthright tone, giving off a feeling of shamelessness. He was basically saying, I don't have anything on me. What can you possibly do? I have nothing left to rob.

Maple laughed softly at his antics. She had come across as many customers, but few were as shameless as he.

"Don't worry, Mr Raiden. I was just speaking casually. You are our trusted Platinum Card Member; we can't possibly charge you for something so trivial. Everything is partially our fault, too. You don't need to pay anything back."

She replied with a smiling face. She did not want to extort money from him; their guild had plenty of that. But the favour they were doing needed to be mentioned. Because if they didn't feel indebted to them, how could they tie such potential future powerhouses to their business?

As for the ungrateful ones, they were considered sunk costs. But so far, from how Raiden behaved, he did not seem like the ungrateful type. So it was a worthy investment in the future.

Just as they were talking, all the thousand beasts started coming towards them. Seeing this, Raiden was instantly put on the guard, hiding behind Maple's small frame with Woolie in his hands.

What if his family's sheep offended everyone on the hill? He couldn't possibly fight them all. It was better hide behind the expert.

Looking at the thousands of beasts in front before looking at the grown man hiding behind her, Maple felt speechless. At first, she found him a little brave for jumping down and running straight towards the fight to save him, Terran, but now, she wasn't so sure anymore.

But in the end, the customer was always right, not to mention he was a potential powerhouse of the future. So she signalled Little Greeny, who was flying above them, who let out a roar of intimidation that swept through the ground, making all the beasts freeze in their tracks.

They all tried to move forward, but found themselves under too much pressure.

"Howl!!" Wake up, Emperor!! You are the winner!!!

Woolie first underling, the grey storm wolf, roared.

Hearing his roar, all the beasts followed as they too started shouting with all their might.

"ROAR!!!"

WAKE UP EMPEROR!!!!

As if stirred by the emotions of thousands of underlings, Woolie started moving in Raiden's arms, who was scared shitless, thinking his family little one had offended everyone, and they all wanted to murder him.

A second later, Woolie woke up with a cute yawn, blinking his eyes.

'Where am I?' ( •̀ ω •́ ) y

Just then, he heard the roar of all the Terra Beasts and remembered everything. Its new underlings were waiting for him.

Quickly shaking out of Raiden's arms, he jumped out and moved forward towards the horde to meet them, leaving Raiden stunned in his place.

A second later, he reacted, before trying to run after his Terran in panic, but was stopped by an iron grip on his shoulders.

"What are you doing?! Let me go!! I need to go save him!!" He said with panic on his face.

But Maple did not know what to say; Little Greeny had translated and told her everything that these beasts were saying, putting a strange expression on her face.

"Please calm down, Mr Raiden, your Woolie is safe. It's best you see for yourself what I mean."

Just as she finished speaking, they felt the ground beneath them shaking wildly as Golden Bison King, who was lying defeated, woke up at an unknown time. It started walking towards Woolie with slow, heavy steps, shaking the ground with each one.

After a few seconds, Woolie once again found himself staring at the massive behemoth, as a tense atmosphere enveloped the ground.

The Bison King was first to break the stalemate, as he did the unexpected!!
