Chapter 35 - Double-Rainbow Opportunity: Deino Joins the Team!

Victor Stone: "My Son Destroyed the Entrance Exam Machine?!"**

Deino's reaction was, in truth, perfectly natural.

Pokémon emotions may be similar to those of humans, but their way of life remains fundamentally primitive.

In the wild, there is only one rule—the law of the jungle.

Among Dragon-types, this rule is followed with almost absolute purity.

The Cloudpeak Dragon Valley looked peaceful on the surface, but the true treasures of the land were all monopolized by powerful Dragon Pokémon.

The weak could only survive in grassy outskirts or damp, shadowy caves.

To Deino, the logic was simple.

She had been defeated.

Which meant Tyrantrum was stronger than her—strong enough to command her respect.

More importantly, she could clearly sense that Tyrantrum was far younger than herself.

Yet despite his age, he already possessed terrifying combat power.

Deino knew one thing for certain—

Even her own father, the Dragon Lord, had never been this overwhelming at such a young age.

So yes, she had lost.

But she had also found a future worth betting on.

That was why she approached Tyrantrum and showed affection without hesitation.

Tyrantrum, however, was completely at a loss.

This… definitely wasn't something he had expected.

Confused, he instinctively looked toward Ethan for help.

Ethan chuckled.

"Alright, alright."

"Tyrantrum, don't act like you don't know what to do."

"She likes you—so at least respond properly."

"Even if you don't know how things will turn out, there's nothing wrong with getting to know each other first, right?"

Hearing this, both Hydreigon and Dragonite nodded in agreement.

As the Dragon Lord of Cloudpeak Valley, Dragonite had already acknowledged Tyrantrum.

That brief battle alone was enough to convince him that Tyrantrum was extraordinary.

To be honest, Dragonite even sensed the potential of a future Dragon Lord in Tyrantrum.

Having such a Pokémon as his son-in-law?

Naturally, Dragonite was delighted.

More importantly, Dragonite knew Tyrantrum was Ethan's Pokémon.

That alone proved that Victor Stone's son was no ordinary Trainer.

"Baruu~"

Dragonite let out a soft call toward Deino.

She understood immediately.

Deino stepped away from Tyrantrum and slowly walked up to Ethan, gently pressing her head against his leg while letting out a low growl.

"Dei—nah~~~"

[Ding! Congratulations, Host has obtained a Golden Opportunity – Deino]

[Opportunity amplification in progress…]

[Ding! Tenfold amplification achieved]

[Ding! Double-Rainbow Opportunity – Deino acquired]

A faint, almost imperceptible glow rippled across Deino's body.

Her information appeared instantly before Ethan.

Pokémon: Deino

Level: 40 (Elite Peak)

Type: Dark / Dragon

Ability: Hustle

Moves: Dragon Pulse, Crunch, Headbutt, Work Up, Snarl, Ice Fang, Body Slam

Potential:Divine Tier – Stage One

Ethan blinked.

"Double-Rainbow… Divine Tier, Stage One?"

This was the first time he had ever seen such a classification.

The only Pokémon he had previously seen with Divine-tier potential was Metagross—but Metagross's status had simply been listed as Divine, without stages.

After a moment of thought, Ethan nodded.

"So Metagross probably has no upper limit at the Divine stage…"

"While Deino caps out at Divine Stage One."

Understanding this, Ethan was still thrilled.

Divine Stage One was already an absurd level of potential.

And thanks to the overflow of opportunity energy, Deino's level had even increased by one.

More than satisfactory.

Seeing that both of his children had chosen to follow Ethan, Dragonite felt a trace of sadness.

After all, they were still his offspring.

But when he imagined their future under Ethan's care, his expression softened into a broad smile.

Ethan had successfully secured two major opportunities.

His journey to Cloudpeak Dragon Valley had been more than worthwhile.

As the sun dipped low and the sky turned gold, Victor and Ethan departed after chatting briefly with Dragonite and the others.

Dragonite warmly invited Ethan to visit Cloudpeak Valley anytime in the future.

Ethan gladly accepted.

Under the reluctant gazes of Garchomp and Hydreigon, father and son finally left the valley.

Once they were gone, Dragonite turned slowly toward his two partners—

Tonight was destined to be… lively.

On the return trip, Victor chose not to summon Charizard.

Instead, both father and son rode atop Metagross.

The flight was unbelievably smooth.

Whether it was Metagross's immense strength or the stability provided by electromagnetic levitation, Victor wasn't sure—but it was easily the most comfortable aerial travel he had ever experienced.

To be honest, if he weren't already past his prime, Victor might have tried to catch a Metagross himself.

Flying on Charizard was powerful—but bumpy.

The journey back to Donghuang Academy was long, giving father and son plenty of time to talk.

They started with Tyrantrum.

Ethan explained Tyrantrum's origins and the training of the past few weeks in detail.

Victor listened carefully.

And silently concluded—

My son is being far too modest.

To Victor, what Ethan described as "just giving ideas" was already extraordinary.

Pokémon intelligence might rival humans, but lack of experience often made execution extremely difficult.

What sounded simple was often anything but.

Victor didn't expose the exaggeration.

Instead, the more he listened, the more satisfied he became.

Talent without arrogance.

That alone was rare.

Victor was increasingly convinced—

His son was destined for greatness.

Just then—

Buzz—buzz—buzz.

Victor's phone rang.

Caller ID: Gao Bing.

"Hm? Why is Teacher Gao calling me?"

He answered.

The moment the call connected, Gao Bing's voice boomed through the line.

"Victor! You brat! I called you all afternoon and you only answer now?!"

Victor laughed. "I was busy this afternoon. What's going on, Teacher?"

They rarely spoke on the phone—Gao Bing only called when something important happened.

Gao Bing chuckled.

"It's nothing urgent."

"I just wanted to share some good news."

"Good news?" Victor frowned slightly. "Go on."

"Your son participated in the entrance assessment today."

"Do you know how he performed?"

Victor smiled calmly.

"Ethan said he did alright."

After all, Gao Bing had given Ethan a Metal Coat as a reward—clearly a sign of solid performance.

So why was this such a big deal?

That was when Gao Bing finally laughed out loud.

"Hahaha! Sounds like he didn't tell you the whole story!"

"Then let me be the one to tell you."

"Your son didn't just do well—"

"He blew up the assessment machine."

Victor froze.

Slowly… very slowly… he turned his head to look at Ethan.

His mind went blank.

"…What?"

My son destroyed the entrance exam machine?!
