Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Classic Year

Chapter 4 - Part 1- Skill Farming and Preparation

I wake up on the first day of my Classic Year knowing exactly what this season demands. Junior Year was about survival, learning, and tasting victory. Classic Year? It's about building a machine, one that runs on instincts, skills, and timing, and that can handle anything the track throws at me.

I glance at my panel in my head: every upcoming race, every distance, every turf stretch, every straightaway. Unlike last year, I'm not just thinking about winning. I'm thinking about how to maximize every skill trigger, how to farm the attributes I'll need to race in America. Dirt adaptation. Medium-distance stamina. Front-runner efficiency. Every tiny inch counts.

Training Focus

I lay out the year's plan:

Front-runner mastery - My style is strong, but it can be sharper. I run countless starts, corners, and lead stretches, training pacing, stride control, and rhythm until it feels like second nature.

Skill farming - Corner Recovery, Straightaway Recovery, Red Shift, and Wind Rider drills every day. Each activation adds more than stats; it trains my aptitudes, timing, and mental instinct.

Medium-distance focus - 1800-2000m races are deliberate experiments. I don't try to dominate; I try to survive efficiently, learning how my body responds when the pace burns my stamina.

Dirt exposure - Gentle starts on dirt tracks, only a few hundred meters at a time, just to get my legs and hooves used to sliding, traction loss, and uneven ground. No races yet, only conditioning.

Every day feels like sculpting my body into a living panel. I note everything: when a skill triggers, how my breathing aligns, when I burn too early, how tight corners feel at full speed. These aren't just notes, they're blueprints for growth.

Early Classic Year – Short and Mile Races

The first few G3s are my test runs. Stats after Junior Year growth:

Speed 340 (D+)

Stamina 250 (E+)

Power 320 (D)

Guts 280 (D+)

Intelligence 330 (D+)

Front-running is my foundation. Each victory adds small sparks:

Corner Recovery triggers cleanly in every turn. Medium-distance efficiency ticks upward.

Red Shift surges feel sharper, giving me split-second advantages in the final stretch.

Wind Rider allows better pack management when other runners try to push past.

Even when I win, I focus on observation rather than glory. Every activation, every pressure test, every stamina burn is data I store mentally.

Medium Distance – Learning to Survive

Next, I enter 1800m races. Front-running is harder here: stamina drains faster, the turf feels heavier, and mistakes punish instantly.

At the first corner, Corner Recovery triggers, small but enough to save my pace. At 400m to go, Red Shift attempts a surge, but timing is off. I adjust instantly, noting the precise moment my body can handle bursts without collapse.

Finish: 3rd place. Not a win, but enormous learning. Medium-distance aptitude ticks slightly upward. My lungs and legs begin to memorize how long burns feel under sustained front-runner pace.

I repeat these races, refining every detail:

"Stamina drains less when I start steady. Red Shift works best pacing through the second corner. Every straight I run at 90% is training for the US races."

By the end of these early Classic Year runs, Medium distance B > B+ and front-runner style consolidates toward S potential. Dirt remains untouched beyond conditioning.

Dirt Exposure

Mornings are dedicated to dirt tracks. Legs slide, hooves slip. Stride feels alien.

"This is going to hurt. But if I want America, I need this. Even a few meters at full speed is better than none."

No races yet, only short bursts, start drills, corner drills, and sprints. Subtle lessons emerge:

Dirt burns stamina faster than turf.

Corners feel looser, demanding more leg control.

Stride timing is slightly delayed.

Every session is logged in my mental panel. Dirt D > D+, tiny but measurable. Every tick matters.

Strategy Notes for the Year

Front-runner mastery remains top priority. Perfect pace makes skill triggers reliable. Medium-distance efficiency grows gradually. Dirt exposure is the foundation for US adaptation. I keep a checklist in my mind:

Front-runner S potential, Medium distance A potential, Dirt C potential, Skills fully trained.

Each night, I reflect:

"I can't forget. I need to dominate in America one day. If I don't farm dirt, front-runner style, and medium distance now, I'll fail later. Every activation, every corner, every straight counts. I can't waste anything."

First Real Lessons

By mid-season, improvements are visible:

I survive longer on medium distances without skill failure.

Red Shift feels slightly more reliable in final stretches.

Corner Recovery is instinctive at front-runner pace.

Turf remains perfect; dirt muscles begin to awaken.

I'm not dominating yet. I'm not making headlines outside Japan. But I'm laying the foundation for a career that will reach everywhere, starting from a meticulous grind only I understand.

Chapter 4, Part 2 - Classic Year Races
