Chapter 7 - WHEN HEAVEN MAKES A MISTAKE.

The bell of the

Celestial Trial Academy

did not ring that morning.

Instead—

The sky itself resonated.

A low, sacred hum rolled across the floating halls, through marble bridges and crystal towers, vibrating directly inside the bones of every student. 🌌⚖️

Kael Ashwyn felt it first.

Not as sound.

But as pressure.

The seal on his chest grew cold. ⛓️

Very cold.

🌩️ Heaven Has Spoken 🌩️

"All students—assemble in the Judgment Arena immediately."

The voice did not come from a person.

It came from above.

Every knee in the academy weakened.

Some students dropped to the ground instantly.

Others trembled, faces pale.

Only a few remained standing.

Kael was one of them.

Not because he was strong—

But because something inside him had already faced Heaven before.

👁️ The Arena of Truth 👁️

The Judgment Arena was a colossal circular platform suspended in open sky. Beneath it, clouds churned like an endless abyss ☁️⚫

Golden runes ignited around the edges, forming layers of divine restriction.

Kael stood at the back, head lowered, hands clenched.

He could feel it.

This was not routine.

This was not discipline.

This was inspection.

At the center of the arena, a figure descended slowly, wings unfolding with mechanical precision.

Archon Seraphel

His armor was etched with law-runes.

His eyes were not cruel—

They were absolute.

"By decree of Heaven," Seraphel announced,

"a discrepancy has been detected."

A murmur rippled through the students.

Elara Virelyn stiffened. 🌸

Her instincts screamed.

Noctis Vale, leaning lazily against a pillar, sighed.

"…So this is how they chose to play."

⚖️ The Accusation ⚖️

Seraphel's gaze swept across the crowd—

And stopped.

On Kael.

"Kael Ashwyn," he said calmly.

"Step forward."

Every eye turned.

Whispers erupted instantly.

"That weak one?"

"He can barely manifest aura!"

"Why would Heaven notice him?"

Kael walked.

Each step felt heavier than the last.

When he reached the center, golden chains of light materialized around him—but did not bind.

They tested.

Seraphel raised a hand.

"Vessel Kael Ashwyn," he declared,

"You were chosen by Heaven, yet your resonance is inconsistent."

The chains tightened slightly.

"Explain."

Kael swallowed.

"I… don't know, Lord Archon."

It was the truth.

That made it dangerous.

🌸 Elara Speaks 🌸

Before Seraphel could continue, a clear voice cut through the tension.

"Permission to speak."

Elara stepped forward, spine straight, eyes steady.

Seraphel regarded her.

"Granted."

She bowed respectfully.

"Kael Ashwyn has displayed no heretical behavior," she said firmly.

"No forbidden cultivation. No demonic resonance."

Her voice did not shake.

"If Heaven senses anomaly, then perhaps the issue lies not with the vessel—"

A ripple of divine pressure surged outward ⚡

Elara staggered back a step.

"—but with the method of selection," she finished.

Silence.

Dead silence.

Students held their breath.

Noctis stared at her, eyes narrowed.

"…Brave," he muttered.

"…or suicidal."

👁️ Heaven Responds 👁️

Seraphel's wings flared slightly.

"Bold words," he said evenly.

"But Heaven does not err."

The chains around Kael pulsed.

Pain lanced through his chest. ⛓️🔥

Inside his soul—

Azrath Cain opened his eyes.

"Ah."

"So they've arrived at suspicion."

Kael gritted his teeth.

Not now.

"Relax," Azrath said calmly.

"I have no intention of waking fully."

"Yet."

🌑 Noctis Interferes 🌑

A slow clap echoed.

"How inspiring," Noctis said lazily. 😏

"Watching Heaven interrogate a child."

Seraphel's gaze snapped toward him.

"You are unregistered."

Noctis smiled.

"I get that a lot."

He stepped forward, standing beside Kael.

The pressure shifted.

Subtly.

Reality itself seemed to hesitate.

"I'm curious," Noctis continued,

"If Heaven is so flawless… why does it need Watchers?"

A ripple ran through the arena.

High above—

A hidden eye blinked. 👁️

⚠️ The Scan ⚠️

Seraphel raised both hands.

"Enough."

Golden sigils formed a sphere around Kael.

"A full Heavenly Scan will conclude this."

Elara's breath caught.

Noctis stopped smiling.

Kael felt it then—

The scan would not expose Azrath.

But it would damage the seal.

Possibly kill him.

Inside—

Azrath Cain laughed softly.

"How ironic."

"They fear demons… yet use methods more brutal than hell."

Kael made a choice.

For the first time.

He did not resist.

He allowed.

💥 Heaven Makes a Mistake 💥

The scan descended.

Light pierced Kael's body, his soul, his memories.

For one instant—

Heaven touched something it should not have.

A throne.

A battlefield soaked in starfire.

A king standing amid kneeling demons and fallen angels.

The scan shattered.

💥💥💥

The arena shook violently.

Students screamed.

Seraphel staggered back, eyes wide.

"What… was that?"

The chains around Kael disintegrated.

Not broken.

Rejected.

😈 The King's Shadow 😈

For half a second—

Just half—

Kael's shadow stretched unnaturally long.

A crown-shaped silhouette appeared behind him 👑🌑

Then vanished.

Kael collapsed to one knee, gasping.

Elara rushed to him.

"Kael!"

Noctis stood very still.

"…So it finally noticed you."

High above—

Watcher Iriel trembled.

Watcher Iriel

"Report!" a voice thundered.

Iriel hesitated.

"…Heaven… encountered resistance."

⚖️ Judgment Deferred ⚖️

Seraphel straightened slowly.

His voice was no longer calm.

"Kael Ashwyn," he said,

"Your evaluation is… incomplete."

The word tasted bitter.

"You will remain under observation."

He turned.

"This assembly is dismissed."

As the pressure lifted, students fled, whispering in terror.

Elara helped Kael stand.

Her hands were shaking.

"You're hurt."

Kael managed a weak smile.

"I've been worse."

She stared at him, eyes searching.

"…What are you?"

Kael met her gaze.

"I don't know," he said honestly.

That scared her more than any lie.

🌑 A Friend's Warning 🌑

Later, as Kael sat alone on a sky-bridge, Noctis joined him.

"That," Noctis said quietly,

"was Heaven's first mistake."

Kael looked up.

"They touched something sealed by choice," Noctis continued.

"And Heaven hates what it cannot command."

Kael clenched his fist.

"…Am I in danger?"

Noctis smiled faintly.

"No."

Then his expression hardened.

"They are."
