There was no way mercenaries wouldn't recognize orc trees that were 3-10 years old. They couldn't not know about orcs. But they stayed silent.
"The villagers' lies can be dealt with later by bringing back the old orc's head. Most orcs who leave their tribe and live alone are either crippled or old—mostly guys who tried to covet other orcs' stuff."
