Summer arrived quietly.
No alarms.
No emergency drills.
No calamity-level beasts tearing through the sky.
Just heat, sunlight, and the strange feeling that everything was about to change.
For the first time since enrolling, Hiko woke up without the academy bell ringing in his head.
He stared at the ceiling.
"…So this is summer break."
His Diverse Dragon was curled up beside him, sleeping on his pillow like a spoiled cat.
It opened one eye.
Chirped.
Then went back to sleep.
Hiko sighed.
"I guess even calamities need rest."
Downstairs, the house was unusually quiet.
No rushing.
No training schedules.
No urgent letters.
At least, that was what Hiko thought.
Until the doorbell rang.
Ding.
Hiko blinked.
"…Who even visits during summer?"
He went downstairs and opened the door.
Standing outside was a tall man wearing a dark academy coat with golden patterns.
His hair was silver.
His eyes were sharp.
And his presence alone made the air feel heavier.
"Good morning," the man said calmly. "Is this the residence of Hiko Shinoegami?"
Hiko froze.
"…Yeah. That's me."
The man smiled slightly.
"My name is Wudorufo Kudorani."
The name alone felt important.
Like something straight out of a history book.
"I am a high evaluator from the Central Academy Council."
Hiko's brain lagged.
"…The what?"
Wudorufo pulled out a crystal tablet.
"Hiko Shinoegami, due to your performance, growth rate, and potential threat level, you have been selected as one of the Twelve Best Students of the Year."
Silence.
"…The what?"
Wudorufo continued calmly.
"You are hereby invited to join a special elite program."
"The Chosen Class."
The words hit harder than any attack spell.
"…Chosen Class?"
Wudorufo nodded.
"A class above Elite."
"A group created only once per year."
"Twelve students. No more. No less."
Hiko swallowed.
"…You're serious?"
Wudorufo looked past him.
The Diverse Dragon had peeked from behind Hiko's leg and was staring at him.
Wudorufo's eyes widened for half a second.
"…Extremely serious."
News spread fast.
Too fast.
By the afternoon, half of Elite-2 was already at Hiko's house.
Daizen was shouting.
"You got WHAT?!"
Kaiser blinked repeatedly.
"…Chosen Class is not a rumor?"
Holo stood quietly, arms crossed.
"…So it finally started."
Goru grinned.
"So our Hiko is officially built different."
Selene looked shocked.
"That class is only for monsters."
Hiko scratched his head.
"…I did not even apply."
Wudorufo stood in the living room like a statue.
"None of the Chosen apply."
"They are chosen."
Then he tapped the crystal.
The screen projected twelve names into the air.
The Chosen Class:
1. Holo Uto
Magic: Hologram Magic
2. Kaiser Touya
Magic: Luck Magic
3. Hiko Shinoegami
Magic: Cursed Flame
4. Goru Orasu

5. Zenith Rin
Magic: None
Ability: Hero's Gates
6. Maelstrom Fujiwara

7. Yami Rin

9. Veliro Kageyama
Magic: Overmatter Magic
10. Dezin Kurifuragawa
Magic: Beast Magic
11. Daizen

12. Piero Daydream
Magic: Heaven Magic
The room went dead silent.
Daizen slowly looked at the list.
"…I'm on it."
Goru blinked.
"…Wait. I'm on it too."
Kaiser whispered.
"…We all are."
Hiko stared.
"…This is literally Elite-2 plus some freaks."
Holo smirked.
"…Not some. The worst ones."
Wudorufo nodded.
"This class is designed to gather abnormal individuals."
"People who do not fit inside standard power scaling."
"People who will either become legends."
"…Or disasters."
That last word lingered.
Hiko felt the devil inside him stir.
Not with fear.
With excitement.
Later that week, the Chosen Class met for the first time.
Not in a classroom.
But in a massive circular training hall floating above the academy.
Twelve platforms.
Twelve seats.
And one man standing at the center.
Rougen.
Hiko froze when he saw him.
"…Wait. Rougen?"
Rougen turned.
Same calm eyes.
Same presence that felt like the world was slightly bending around him.
"Yo."
Hiko's brain malfunctioned.
"…You are our advisor?"
Rougen nodded.
"Unfortunately for you."
Zenith Rin stood up.
He was tall, athletic, and completely mana-less.
But the pressure around him felt insane.
"…You are Rougen. The Void user."
Rougen tilted his head.
"Used to be."
Yami Rin smirked.
"…So even advisors here are broken."
Maelstrom Fujiwara laughed.
"Good. I was scared this would be boring."
Nyx Asseryth sat quietly in the shadows.
Her black aura pulsed gently, reacting to the dim light.
Veliro Kageyama stared at Hiko's dragon.
"…That thing is Overmatter compatible."
Dezin Kurifuragawa whistled.
"I can feel like a hundred beasts outside the city."
Piero Daydream floated slightly above his seat.
Light literally forming wings behind him.
"This class is beautiful."
Rougen looked around.
"…Yeah. You are all monsters."
Then he pointed at Holo.
"And that one is the worst."
Holo blinked.
"…Rude."
Rougen continued.
"Holo Uto."
"Hologram Magic."
"Your magic can rewrite perception, simulate reality, predict outcomes, and generate parallel information layers."
Holo shrugged.
"…Basically, yes."
Rougen looked at Zenith.
"And you."
Zenith Rin.
"Magicless."
"But Hero's Gates turns physical ability into divine-level output."
"Three hundred times reflex."
Zenith smiled.
"…I punch problems."
Rougen looked at the rest.
"Luck manipulation."
"Dimensional slashes."
"Weather control."
"Blood manipulation."
"Midnight amplification."
"Overmatter."
"Beast domination."
"Earth embodiment."
"Heaven authority."
Then he looked at Hiko.
"And cursed flame."
Silence.
Rougen smiled.
"This is not a class."
"This is a future catastrophe management team."
Everyone felt it.
This was not school anymore.
This was the beginning of something else.
Not training to survive.
Training to stand at the top of the world.
Hiko looked at his dragon.
Then at his classmates.
Then at Rougen.
"…So what do we do first?"
Rougen's eyes gleamed.
"We break every limit you think you have."
And for the first time, even Holo Uto felt a chill.
Because for once.
He was not the only monster in the room.
