Chapter 29 - chapter 29When Control Begins

Soha seemed to lose all sense of reality at the sight of the flashing red lights and the sound of police sirens below the penthouse. Ignoring the blue haze of the drug and the unbearable physical pain, she stood up from the bed. With trembling steps, she rushed to the massive balcony adjacent to the bedroom.

The senior police officer standing below was shouting into a megaphone, "Mr. Adrik, surrender! We know you are holding Soha Begum against her will."

Soha leaned over the railing and screamed down at them, her voice filled with intense rage and desperation.

Soha (screaming):

"All of you, leave! Why are you here? What is your problem? I'm telling you to get out of here right now!"

Soha knew that if the police clashed with a man like Adrik, it would result in a bloodbath. The lives of her three children would be in grave danger. It was true that Adrik had whipped her and injected her, but at this moment, she only cared for her children's safety.

From behind, Adrik walked slowly onto the balcony. A cigarette glowed in his hand, and his eyes held his signature mocking smile. He stood very close to her.

Adrik (in a cold voice):

"See that, Officer? My queen is dismissing you herself. I admire your courage, but poking your nose into my personal affairs never ends sweetly."

Soha turned back to look at Adrik. Tears were streaming down her face, but her voice was laced with pure hatred.

Soha (looking at Adrik):

"Are you happy now? This is what you wanted, isn't it? Now go! Get out of my sight! Do you want the police to start shooting and terrify my children? Go, I said!"

Adrik took a final puff and blew the smoke into Soha's face. Then, looking down at the megaphone, he waved his hand as if he had won a war. The police officer stood below, gritting his teeth in a mixture of shame and fury as he watched Soha herself turn them away.

As the police cars slowly turned off their sirens and began to leave the penthouse area, Adrik pressed his finger against the puncture mark on Soha's neck where he had injected her.

Adrik:

"You've acted wisely, Soha. The police can't save you; they would only end up as corpses between us. Now, let's go inside—the night is still young."

After the police left, a heavy silence descended upon the penthouse. Without saying a word, Adrik signaled the maid. The terrified woman quickly stepped forward, carefully took the sleeping six-month-old from Soha's arms, and hurried to the next room. The two older children had also fallen asleep in another room from exhaustion.

Soha could no longer remain standing. The blue drug was completely numbing her nerves. She staggered to the bed and collapsed. Her physical agony and mental hatred seemed to be buried under a deep, dark slumber. Within moments, she was in a profound sleep. Her fair face looked as peaceful as moonlight, though the dark bruise from Adrik's slap was still vivid on the corner of her lips.

Adrik walked slowly to the bedside. He stood watching her still, peaceful face. This was the woman he had just whipped and injected. But seeing her sleep like that, the terrifying mafia don inside him seemed to vanish for a moment.

He lay down on the other side of the bed. Then, very carefully avoiding her wounds, he pulled her into a firm embrace from behind. Adrik buried his face in her hair and took a long breath. The scent of the drug on her body mixed with the familiar fragrance of her hair, creating a strange, haunting allure.

Adrik (whispering in a very low voice):

"You wanted to leave me, Soha... but you don't know that in this dark world, you are my only light. I can destroy you, but I cannot live without you."

Adrik's eyes grew moist. Resting his head on her shoulder, he gradually drifted into a deep sleep. After a day of carnage, police chases, and family turmoil, two people—one a criminal and the other his victim—lay sleeping under the same sheet.

Outside, the first light of dawn began to break. The only witnesses to the night's hellish events were the whip marks on the wall and the empty syringe on the floor.

The enchanting light of dawn filtered through the curtains. When Soha woke up, there was a strange haze in her eyes. Under the influence of the blue drug, all her grievances and the horrific memories of the previous night seemed covered by a thick fog. She saw Adrik holding her in a tight embrace as he slept.

Soha turned gently toward Adrik. The fire in her eyes was gone, replaced by an intoxicated surrender. She slowly moved her face close to his and planted a long, deep kiss on his lips.

The touch of the kiss woke Adrik. He opened his eyes to see this transformed version of Soha. The woman who hated him was now being affectionate toward him. A diabolical yet satisfied smile played on Adrik's lips. He knew his injection had worked.

Adrik (laughing in a low voice):

"Finally, you are mine, Soha. See? Even your hatred has lost to my stubbornness."

Adrik got up from the bed and scooped Soha into his arms with a swift motion. Soha didn't protest; instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and clung to his chest. He carried her to the window. The light of the rising sun fell upon them both.

He kissed her soft hands with a display of affection. Her hands still bore the whip marks and the dark spots from the blue drug, but at the touch of his kiss, Soha seemed to forget all her pain and get lost in a new trance.

Adrik:

"From now on, there is no mafia don in this city, and no prisoner. Now there is only you and I. From today, these hands will touch only me."

Soha rested her head on his shoulder and whispered faintly—

"I only want to be yours, Adrik. Don't ever leave me alone again."

Adrik pulled her into a closer embrace. To an outsider, they looked like a happy couple, but beneath it all lay the blue poison of a terrifying drug and the tragic history of a woman losing her very soul.

The blue haze of the drug was not meant to last forever. By noon, as the harsh sunlight pierced through the curtains, a sharp pain erupted inside Soha's brain. Her body felt lighter, and the fog over her mind began to lift.

Adrik was still sitting beside her, stroking her hair with a victorious smile. But suddenly, he noticed Soha's muscles tensing up. Her brain was now facing a terrifying truth.

Within minutes, all the scenes from the previous night flashed before her eyes: her dress being torn in the limo, the dark warehouse, the whistling sound of the whip, and that horrific syringe! She even remembered that moments ago, she had kissed Adrik of her own free will.

Soha jerked Adrik's hand away from her hair. Her eyes were now burning like those of a venomous snake. She scrambled away from him, standing at a distance from the bed.

Soha (screaming):

"Don't touch me! Not at all! What... what did you give me? Weren't you ashamed to play such a disgusting game with my mind, Adrik?"

Adrik's smile vanished instantly. He sat up on the bed, his voice turning cold as stone again.

Adrik:

"The drug's effect has worn off, then? You returned quite quickly. Why, Soha? A moment ago, you were the one holding me, loving me. Was that time so bad?"

Soha (spitting in disgust):

"That wasn't me! That was the result of that toxic drug you gave me! You might be a mafia don, but how low must you be to play with a woman's mind like this? I hate you, Adrik! A thousand times more than I did yesterday!"

Soha looked at the wall. In the mirror hanging there, she saw her devastated reflection and the whip marks on her back. Her soul trembled with agony.

Soha:

"You thought you could win my heart with an injection? You can occupy my body, but this heart will never be yours. I am leaving this place right now!"

Adrik walked slowly to the door and locked it. In his hand was the same whip he had brought from the warehouse.

Adrik:

"Leave? Where will you go, Soha? There are no police outside, and no one to help you. And remember, I have more doses of that injection. If you won't be mine out of love, you will have to remain my doll for the rest of your life under the haze of that blue drug."

Soha screamed in agony. She realized she was trapped in an eternal hell.
