Elena's POV
Oliver shifted in my arms, but every moment had been worth it.
I watched panic flash across the stranger's face as he glanced around frantically.
Passersby stared at me first, then turned their attention to him. The security guard started moving in his direction, but the moment the man spotted him, he bolted.
Two other men emerged from their hiding spots and chased after him.
I waited until they'd completely disappeared before turning to face the guard.
"Thank you," I smiled, though my heart was still hammering.
With his assistance, I made it outside, flagged down a cab, climbed in safely, and carefully settled Oliver on my lap.
"Where to, ma'am?" the driver asked.
"Grand Scarlet Hotel," I replied, my voice shaky.
During the ride, I kept checking around us, scanning for anyone who might be following.
Only after I was sure we were clear did I let myself relax.
