Dorian's POV
"Is everything alright?" Elena's voice was soft, concerned.
I gave her a quick nod. "Yeah," I said, sliding my phone back into my pocket. Not wanting her to think this had anything to do with her friend, I added, "Work emergency."
"Oh, okay," she said, and I watched the tension leave her shoulders.
"Drop Miss Vane at the hotel," I told Axel. "Then head to the office."
"Yes, boss," Axel responded.
Fury simmered in my chest at the thought of Bennett appearing without warning, but underneath that was something worse—a cold dread I knew too well.
Bennett had always spelled disaster, and I had a sick feeling this visit would be no exception. Maybe the worst yet.
When we pulled up to the hotel, I turned to face her. "I might need you to begin work earlier than planned."
She didn't hesitate. "Of course, sir."
"Keep me posted on how things develop," I said as she stepped out.
The moment she vanished through the hotel doors, Axel gunned it toward my building.
