Darian paid no mind to Fury's words.
It was like in a game, where the NPC says the World will be destroyed if players don't act fast, but the players still leisurely mine, collect treasure chests everywhere, and don't take it seriously at all.
Seeing Darian like this, Fury rubbed his temples helplessly.
"All in all, keep a low profile during this time. Coulson needs backup for a mission in New Mexico. I originally planned to send Hawkeye, who is on vacation, but now you go instead."
[NPC Fury has assigned you a new mission]
[Mission: Support Coulson]
[Objective: Go to New Mexico, find Coulson to rendezvous, and assist him in his mission]
[Reward: Experience +1000, S.H.I.E.L.D. Reputation +20, Item *2]
"Understood, Officer."
After receiving the mission, Darian drove to the desert area of New Mexico that very day.
He quickly found the small S.H.I.E.L.D. Base that had been temporarily set up and met Coulson, the highest-ranking Officer there.
"Village Chief, long time no see. How come your hairline is even higher?"
Coulson: "..."
As Fury's capable subordinate and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s recognized workaholic, he had almost no time off. Every day, he was either on a mission or on his way to a mission, rarely even seeing his cello-playing girlfriend.
The long periods of travel, coupled with the unavoidable pressures of middle age, had made his hair increasingly sparse.
Coulson just didn't understand.
Darian was even more diligent than him in completing missions, so why didn't this guy lose hair?
Coulson pretended not to hear Darian's latter words and cut straight to the chase: "Not long ago, we detected an Einstein-Rosen bridge, which is a wormhole phenomenon, above this area. An alien object fell out of it."
Darian asked curiously: "What kind of alien object is it?"
"It's a hammer!"
Darian: "..."
Things were going well, so why did he suddenly start swearing?
Seeing Darian's expression, Coulson explained: "I mean the alien object is a hammer. Forget it, just come with me."
With that, Coulson led Darian to the innermost part of the small Base.
As Coulson said, Darian saw a hammer, a square silver hammer that looked unremarkable.
Coulson's expression was serious: "According to our tests, no one has been able to lift it so far. Even with heavy cranes, this hammer cannot be moved by even half a millimeter."
"But strangely, this doesn't seem to be due to the hammer's weight itself. We even tried digging out the soil beneath it, but even with just a little left, it could still support the hammer."
"That amazing?"
Darian immediately became interested, walked up to the hammer, and grabbed its short handle.
Just as he tried to exert force, the system's voice suddenly sounded.
[You do not meet the usage requirements for this equipment]
[Usage Requirement: Righteousness ≥ 1000]
"Righteousness?"
Darian was a bit surprised.
It was the first time he had seen equipment with usage requirements, and it was for the recently unlocked Righteousness stat.
Darian pulled up his personal attribute panel to check and found that his Righteousness had already grown to 136.
According to the system records, these points were accumulated when he inadvertently saved many lives while performing missions during this time, and also when he defeated super villains like Abomination, which also yielded a large amount of Righteousness.
"It seems I still have a lot of potential to be a superhero."
Darian thought smugly.
As for the nearly two hundred points of Sin, he selectively ignored them.
"What's wrong? Did you find anything?"
Seeing Darian holding the hammer handle and remaining silent for a long time, Coulson couldn't help but ask curiously.
He knew Darian was not simple, and perhaps he could discover something.
Darian decisively released the hammer's short handle and nodded: "There are conditions for lifting this hammer. It's probably for people who are righteous, brave, upright, and responsible. So it's normal that you can't lift it."
Coulson: "..."
Why do I feel like you're indirectly insulting me?
Next, Coulson assigned Darian a job, which was to guard the hammer until all their related testing was completed.
This job was quite easy.
Darian somehow got a folding lounge chair and placed it not far from the hammer.
He leisurely lay down, drinking an unknown beverage while reading a comic book. His relaxed demeanor made him look like he was on vacation.
This made the surrounding S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents on patrol grind their teeth.
They were already annoyed at work!
Seeing this scene, their fists clenched!
Night.
Suddenly, heavy rain began to fall.
As Darian was engrossed in his comic book, he heard Coulson's voice from the communicator.
"Darian, someone has broken into the Base, and it seems he's heading in your direction."
"I know."
Darian reluctantly got up from the lounge chair.
He wanted to see which arrogant fellow dared to break into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s territory.
With the sound of intense fighting and running, Darian soon saw that arrogant fellow.
"Chirs?"
Darian couldn't help but widen his eyes.
The newcomer was a muscular, long-haired, blond strongman. His wet long hair clung to his face, and his appearance was very similar to an actor he remembered.
Hearing Darian's words, the muscular man loudly retorted: "I am Thor, the great God of Thunder, son of Odin!"
Darian chuckled: "You're the God of Thunder? Then I'm Zeus."
"How dare you! A mere mortal dares to blaspheme a god!"
Thor was furious.
He roared and immediately charged, swinging his fist at Darian.
It must be said, his speed was indeed astonishing, and his strength far surpassed ordinary people, which was why he was able to break through the outer Agent's defenses and reach here.
However, in Darian's eyes, this level of attack was nothing special.
He didn't even bother to use a skill, simply raised his hand casually, and firmly grasped Thor's fist.
"How is this possible?"
Thor's face was filled with shock.
Even without his divine power, his body was by no means something a mortal body could contend with.
Yet, this person in front of him could block his fist so easily!
Thor gritted his teeth and exerted force, but still couldn't break free from Darian's large hand.
Darian looked at Thor's flushed face and asked with interest: "You said you're the God of Thunder, so you must be very resistant to electricity, right?"
"What do you me-me-me-me-mean—"
Before Thor could finish his sentence, he felt a violent current instantly sweep through his body, and he began to twitch uncontrollably.
A few seconds later, his eyes rolled back, and he fell stiffly to the ground, with wisps of white smoke rising from his body.
Darian turned off Professor Yang's Ring on his finger.
He looked at the unconscious Thor, with a look of disdain: "And he calls himself the God of Thunder."
