Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

▪ In the Kitchen — Behind Closed Doors

Yuki stared at him for several seconds.

Then… she burst out laughing.

Yuki:

"You're an alien?!"

"Don't tell me you've got chuunibyou syndrome."

She placed a hand on his forehead as if diagnosing him.

"The dangerous phase usually starts in eighth grade… or at least that's what the internet says."

Glober let out a slow sigh.

Glober:

"No… I don't have that condition.

I'm telling the truth."

Yuki (shaking her head):

"You really need to stop watching so much anime…

or you'll socially ruin yourself."

Glober closed his eyes for a moment.

Then he opened them again—this time with a more serious gaze.

Glober:

"Then… how about I show you something unusual?"

Yuki raised an eyebrow.

Yuki:

"Like what, exactly?"

Calmly, Glober reached toward the table.

He picked up a knife.

Before she could process what was happening—

He dragged the blade across his palm.

Drops of blood splattered onto the kitchen floor.

Yuki's eyes widened.

Yuki (horrified):

"What are you doing?! Have you lost your mind?!"

But his expression remained cold… as if pain meant nothing to him.

Glober:

"Watch carefully."

The droplets of blood stopped spreading.

They began to tremble.

Then slowly gathered together…

Forming a small red mass.

Within seconds—

Wings sprouted from it.

It transformed into a red fly,

And gradually its color shifted until it looked completely normal.

It buzzed quietly around them.

Yuki stared, mouth slightly open.

Yuki (whispering):

"Amazing…

Is this some kind of magic trick?"

Glober:

"This isn't magic.

It's one of my abilities."

She continued staring at him in disbelief.

Yuki:

"It's hard to believe…

But you look completely human."

He was silent for a few seconds.

Then he said calmly:

Glober:

"In truth… this isn't my body.

I found this body dead in a forest nearby.

My merger with it is temporary… so I can survive.

I cannot live outside a host body for long."

Yuki took a small step back.

Not out of fear… but trying to process what she had heard.

Yuki:

"So…

Can you leave that body?

I want to see what you really look like."

For the first time, Glober seemed surprised.

Glober:

"You're asking that seriously?

I can't guarantee you'll like what you see."

She shrugged.

Yuki:

"It's fine.

I'll accept you as you are."

A faint smile touched his lips… though it didn't reach his eyes.

Then—

A luminous blue liquid began slowly flowing from Koichi's mouth.

As if the body were emptying its contents.

The liquid pooled on the floor…

Gathered… condensed…

Until it formed something resembling slime.

A blue gelatinous mass,

With two red eyes glowing softly from within.

Its shape finally stabilized.

Glober:

"This… is my true form."

Silence.

Yuki didn't say a word.

Glober lowered his gaze slightly.

Glober (more quietly):

"I know my appearance is repulsive to you, so—"

Suddenly—

Yuki bent down quickly.

She grabbed him with both hands.

And lifted him up.

Yuki (eyes sparkling):

"You look like a slime from an isekai anime!

Even your texture… it's weird… but kind of cute!"

Then—

She hugged him like a soft cushion.

His body squished slightly.

Glober:

"Wait… hold on… that's a bit suffocating—

But… I'm glad you accepted me."

She pulled him back slightly to look into his glowing red eyes.

Yuki:

"What are you talking about?

We're friends, aren't we?

I'll accept your appearance even if it's scary…

Because what matters is who you are inside."

Glober's eyes widened.

Something within him… something he had never understood before… stirred.

He, who had studied humans as primitive emotional beings…

Now stood speechless before a few simple words.

A faint smile formed.

Glober:

"You really are… a strange girl."

She smiled proudly.

Yuki:

"I know."

Yuki continued holding the blue slime as though it were a rare doll.

His red eyes watched her silently.

Yuki (with childlike curiosity):

"So… what's your real name?"

He answered without hesitation.

Glober:

"My name is Glober.

I come from the planet Zephyra-9…

From a lineage known as the Aurelian."

Yuki tilted her head.

Yuki:

"Ze… Zephy… what?

That's such a complicated name.

So why did you come to Earth?

Don't tell me you're planning to invade us or something?"

His body trembled slightly, as if silently laughing.

Glober:

"Invasion? No.

If we wanted that… we wouldn't need to plan at all.

I was sent here for one purpose only:

To study your species."

Her eyes widened.

Yuki:

"Study us?!"

Glober:

"Yes.

We are assigned to observe intelligent species across the universe.

To document their behavior… their evolution… their conflicts… their future probabilities.

And you… are one of those species."

She looked down for a moment, then lifted her eyes with wonder.

Yuki:

"That's incredible…

So there are many species in space?"

Glober:

"Far more than you can imagine.

But we belong to a galaxy very far from yours.

The probability of your reaching it… is nearly zero."

Her cheeks puffed up in mild anger.

Yuki:

"What?!

Do you think we're stupid and will never reach your level of intelligence?"

He paused.

Then replied with clear indifference:

Glober:

"Yes.

Most humans are not interested in true science.

They care about power… wealth… emotion.

Even many of your scientists—

They develop weapons.

Competing to create the strongest one…

Because in the end, your world is ruled by the strong."

Her smile faded slightly.

Yuki (calm but displeased):

"Maybe… you're not entirely wrong.

But not all humans are the same.

Some strive for peace…

Some genuinely work to improve their countries…

Some believe strength isn't always the answer."

Glober looked at her for a long moment.

Glober:

"I know.

I discovered that after long observation…

The internet is full of chaos… but it's also full of light.

And you… are a good example."

Her face flushed faintly.

Yuki (laughing shyly):

"Hehe… that's embarrassing."

Glober smiled.

Then gently slipped from her arms and slid across the table toward Koichi's body lying on the floor.

Glober:

"Anyway…

I will be leaving soon.

I wanted to say goodbye before I go."

She didn't respond.

He sensed the silence.

He turned toward her.

Her face was pale.

Her gaze fixed on something.

Glober:

"What's wrong?

Are you okay?"

Slowly, she raised her finger… pointing at the body.

Yuki (quietly):

"Didn't you say… you found this body dead?"

He froze.

Glober:

"Yes… why?"

She swallowed.

Yuki:

"Then why do I see his chest… moving?

Like he's… breathing?"

A heavy silence fell.

In an instant—

Glober rushed to the body.

He leaned in.

Stared.

The chest… rising and falling very slowly.

Irregular… but unmistakable.

Glober formed a limb resembling a hand,

And placed it on Koichi's chest.

He sensed the pulse.

Extremely weak…

But present.

His eyes widened.

Glober (in a shocked whisper):

"Impossible…"

He focused harder.

One beat.

Then another.

Faint… but real.

Glober:

"He's alive…"

He looked up at Yuki.

For the first time since arriving on Earth—

Genuine confusion entered his voice.

Glober:

"That's not possible…

When I found him… there was no neural activity…

No pulse… no consciousness…"

He stepped back slightly.

His thoughts racing.

Was it clinical death?

Did his biological intervention reactivate vital functions?

Or had his merger not been possession… but resuscitation?

He looked at his gelatinous hands.

Then at Koichi's pale face.

If the body was alive…

Then it had never been an empty host.

But a human… returned from the edge of death.

And the most terrifying question began forming in his mind:

If Koichi regains consciousness…

Who will own this body?
