Chapter 62 - Chapter 50: CONSEQUENCE AND CONVICTION !

The atmosphere in the girls' quarters was thick, the silence between questions far heavier than any answer could be. The soft, rhythmic thrumming of the ship's hull felt like a heartbeat, anchoring them to a reality that grew more surreal by the second.

Nejire broke the stillness, her voice uncharacteristically soft as she looked around the circle. "This legend... this story about the pact and the island. Is it possible it's just not true?"

Boa Hancock adjusted herself on her Salome-snake chair, her obsidian eyes flashing with a cold, weary light. "I wish," she murmured, her voice laced with a rare sincerity, "that it were nothing more than a foolish fairy tale."

Viola slowly shook her head, her gaze fixed on the table, while Vivi and Shirahoshi sat with their fists clenched so tightly their knuckles had turned white. Hiyori, seeking some form of grounding, clutched her sword hilt and reached out to grab the sleeve of Kiku's kimono, her hand trembling slightly.

It was Nico Robin who finally spoke, her calm demeanor acting as an anchor for the group. "If it isn't true," she said, her voice steady but laden with gravity, "then it means the burden hasn't ended with us. It means the next generation will be forced to take up the mantle, to complete an agreement that we were too afraid or too weak to fulfill."

A suffocating silence crushed the room, caught between the desperate hope that it was all a lie and the terrifying reality that it might be true.

"And if this agreement is never honored," Robin continued, "it won't just be our families who pay the price. These twin worlds will feel the consequence of mocking something they should have never disturbed."

The silence that followed was not just quiet; it was suffocating. It was the kind of silence that felt like a physical weight, pressing down on the shoulders of every girl in the room. The realization that a single landmass could exert its will over the entire globe—crushing the spirits of millions with a mere flare of Haki—was a concept too vast, too terrifying, to fully process.

They sat like statues, their imaginations trapped in a cycle of dark "what ifs." If the island's mere appearance could do this, what would happen when they actually stepped foot on its soil? Would they be erased? Would their families pay the price for a pact they barely understood?

Bello Betty watched them, her eyes narrowing behind the smoke of her cigarette. She saw the light fading from Shirahoshi's eyes and the way Vivi looked as if she were already mourning her kingdom. To Betty, who had spent her life fighting against the despair of the world, this was the most dangerous enemy of all.

She stood up abruptly, the movement causing the silk of her jacket to snap. She flicked her cigarette into a tray and leaned over the table, her presence cutting through the gloom like a red flare in the dark.planing to ease the atmosphere she changes the question if this legend is really true.

"But what if it's all just nonsense?" Bello Betty asked, flicking her cigarette ash into a small tray. She leaned back, her eyes narrowed through the smoke. "Lies told by old men to keep the world in a state of fear?"

"I would give anything for it to be a lie," Vivi whispered.

"I... I can't," Shirahoshi stammered, tears welling in her enormous eyes. "For my kingdom... for the sake of the sea... I want it to be true. I have to believe it's true, or all our waiting has been for nothing."

Hiyori stood up abruptly, her eyes fierce as she looked at her friends. "Enough of these depressing questions! Listen to me—we are doing this together, do you understand? True or not, we aren't alone."

Nami reached over, placing a hand on Shirahoshi's trembling fingers. "Hiyori is right. Even if the legends are twisted, we have each other. With the abilities in this room and the strength of the students on this ship, we can face whatever is waiting for us."

"Exactly," Hibari added, clutching her rifle with a determined nod. "Aren't the boys on this ship reliable, too? We have monsters of our own on our side. Don't cry, Shirahoshi. We'll help you through this."

And If the world was going to end every time a legend got scary, we'd have all died in our cribs. You're letting your imaginations run away with you, and frankly, it's beneath you. We are students of the most prestigious academies in the world. We aren't here to be victims of a story written centuries ago. Said Momo.

Bellobetty then gave a small, cocky smirk, looking around the circle. "Think about the idiots currently downstairs in the gym. Do you honestly think Luffy cares about a 'slumbering fate'? Do you think Bakugo is going to let some island tell him he's not allowed to be the best? Those boys would try to punch the island into submission before they ever bowed to it."

A small, reluctant giggle escaped Nejire's lips. The image of Bakugo screaming at a piece of land was enough to crack the tension.

"Exactly," Betty continued, her tone lighter but no less firm. "We've got a ship full of monsters on our side. And we aren't exactly helpless ourselves. If this 'Adam' wants to challenge the world, it's going to have to deal with us first. And believe me, I'm much more annoying than any ancient curse."

The "depression" that had filled the room began to thin, replaced by a gritty, practical resolve. They couldn't stop the island from being what it was, but they could stop themselves from being afraid of it. Even Hancock gave a small, approving nod, her pride returning.

Then finallt the tension broke as Viola let out a sudden, genuine laugh. "Haha! Now that's the spirit. That's how it should be!"

"Yes!" Rebecca chimed in, a bright smile returning to her face. "Let's forget these dark questions for a moment and focus on the task at hand. We're going to that island, and we're going to find out for ourselves."

"We focus on the now," Momo said, straightening her posture and regaining her composure. "We study what we can, we train our bodies, and we support each other. We don't worry about the unknown of the old world until they actually show their faces."

As the girls began to talk again, their voices no longer hushed by fear, but new resolve to help out each other.

Robin watched them, a small, private smile touching her lips. She thought back to her own secret research and the hidden hypothesis she had guarded for so long. She suspected that the "suns" of this twin world—the two individuals capable of changing everything—were right here, on this very ship.

But as she looked at the girls rallying together, Robin shook her head slightly, forcing herself to stop. The future was still a shroud of mist, and as the ship cut deeper into the Calm Belt, she knew the answers would find them soon enough.
