Chapter 25 - Chapter 20: After the Tide

The storm had passed, leaving the docks wet and glistening under a gray, diffused light. TSUF stepped carefully over warped planks, each soaked board a reminder of yesterday's chaos. The air smelled of salt and broken wood, sharp and real.

Silence hung heavier than any storm. Workers moved slowly, faces pale, muscles aching from the strain of survival. TSUF felt it too—the weight of choices made in seconds, each carrying consequences that would linger long after the boards had settled.

He paused at the edge of the pier, watching water ripple around the submerged crates. Nothing moved except the tide, yet every shadow, every displaced plank, seemed to whisper lessons he couldn't ignore. Survival was not luck; it was awareness, timing, and the courage to act when hesitation meant disaster.

A young laborer approached cautiously, offering a nod of gratitude, fleeting and quiet. TSUF simply acknowledged it with a tight nod of his own. Words were unnecessary here; understanding traveled in gestures, in the shared recognition that everyone had endured, everyone had survived.

TSUF exhaled slowly, muscles stiff, mind alert. The docks were quiet now, but the lessons would linger. He had walked through chaos, made decisions under pressure, and emerged intact—not unscathed, but prepared. And as the tide receded, he realized that every choice he made today would ripple outward, shaping not just the dock, but the days ahead.
