Wraiths.
They look like humans, but with two horns and inverted eyes.
At a glance, one might mistake them for ordinary people.
But the moment one looks closer, something feels wrong, something unnatural.
People instinctively feel disgust in the presence of wraiths.
A faint unease crept into the air whenever they were near, as if the world itself rejected their existence.
It wasn't learned, it wasn't taught, it was instinct; a deep, primal rejection.
Well, the reason is just like humans who use mana; they use something else: miasma, a corruptive form of mana.
Unlike mana, which nurtures and strengthens, miasma erodes and distorts.
Even mana-mutated beasts could be turned into corrupted beasts if they were exposed to miasma for long enough.
Flesh would twist, instincts would break, and what remained would no longer be a beast, but something far worse.
