Chapter 6 - "Do I have anything valuable?"

-----

-----

With everything confirmed to be safe, Kurama casually sold off another chunk of chakra, this time equal to that of a Kage-level powerhouse.

"Man, it really lives up to the name," Sam couldn't help but sigh as he looked at Kurama, who was still bursting with energy. "The strongest tailed beast with the most chakra. With reserves like that, who can even compete, aside from those broken cheat characters?"

Even after just supplying chakra on the level of a Kage, Kurama looked completely unfazed. For a creature practically overflowing with chakra, that amount was nothing more than a drizzle.

And since chakra crystals were one-time consumables, their prices weren't particularly high.

In the end, Kurama earned one hundred gold coins for a Genin-level chakra crystal, while the Kage-level one fetched a pricier one thousand coins.

Kurama was clearly unhappy with the pricing. A Genin's chakra crystal was already worth a hundred, yet a Kage-level one only sold for a thousand?

But there was no helping it. The Interdimensional Mercenary Guild was just that ruthless.

Staring at the Kage-level Nine-Tails chakra crystal, Sam felt a twinge of temptation.

Still, even with his member discount, buying it wasn't enough. If he wanted to truly make that power his own, he'd have to purchase a Fusion Card from the guild to integrate it completely.

Fusion Cards weren't expensive, only a hundred gold coins.

Even so, it still felt like a bad deal.

Honestly, the Interdimensional Mercenary Guild was frighteningly good at squeezing money out of people.

"Didn't expect there to be extra," Kurama muttered, glancing at the token Sam handed over, which displayed a balance of 1,100 coins. It snorted smugly.

Sam: "..."

You smug little Versailles fox.

Seriously, I kind of want to punch you right now.

After helping the prideful fox purchase the later plotlines of Naruto, Kurama immediately dashed off to one side, impatiently diving into the story.

Since it was a purchased item, you could actually enter the manga itself and experience it like a live broadcast.

Of course, you could also flip through it page by page if you preferred.

"Bao'er-jie," Sam said, turning to Feng Baobao. "Even though the guild can't fully trace your origins yet, parts of your future can still be referenced."

Technically, Sam was the guildmaster, but counting both this life and his previous one, he was only in his twenties. Feng Baobao, on the other hand, had lived for who knew how long. Calling her "Bao'er-jie" was perfectly reasonable.

Sam nodded seriously to himself. Completely reasonable.

(Sam: I'm definitely not doing this to relive my long-gone youth or anything!)

"Uh..." Feng Baobao looked at him for a moment. "Alright then. Get me one."

She walked straight over to the trading mirror.

Sam: "..."

As expected of Bao'er-jie. Straightforward as ever.

Under Sam's guidance, Feng Baobao sold part of her qi to the guild and earned close to two thousand gold coins.

That was only because Sam told her to stop. Otherwise, she would've kept going. Her qi seemed endless, and even after transferring that much, she wasn't the least bit winded.

Worse, she looked totally spaced out, just standing there and pouring out qi nonstop.

Once the transaction was done, Sam immediately handed her the manga The Outcast that the guild had in stock.

Feng Baobao took the book, then casually grabbed a drink from the counter as she left.

Sam: "..."

Like a goose plucking feathers wherever it passes, or a beast leaving its hide behind. That felt very much like Tushan-style behavior.

Bao'er-jie, you're picking up bad habits.

After she left, Sam looked at the balance on his guildmaster token: 11,437 gold coins. He was very satisfied.

"Nice, nice. Got a bit more pocket money now."

Although it was only thirty-one coins more than before, that still equaled five days' worth of sign-in rewards.

As for why Sam had accumulated so many interdimensional coins, it was simple. For the past five years, he'd never missed a single daily sign-in.

Each sign-in gave between one and ten coins. Sam was lucky; he never got fewer than six.

After spending some here and there, over time, it all added up to this amount.

"Um... Guildmaster?" Elsa asked softly at that moment. "Is there anything about my future?"

She really wanted to know what lay ahead. Would she still be alone, locked away in her room forever?

"Hm?" Sam turned around. "Oh, Elsa. Your future? Yeah, there is."

As he spoke, he reached out and patted her head.

He had to admit, patting the future Snow Queen's head felt pretty nice.

"Really?" Hope flickered in Elsa's eyes. "Then... do I have anything valuable? I want to see my future."

"Something valuable on you?" Sam's eyes lit up.

He'd always thought highly of Elsa's ice and snow powers.

In the movie, she could create living beings made of ice and snow. Her raw power was terrifying. She could summon blizzards and plunge an entire kingdom into eternal winter.

Though, to be fair, he never did find out how big that kingdom actually was.

"Don't underestimate yourself," Sam said with a smile. "What you have might be worth way more than you think. Come on, stand in front of the mirror."

Elsa did as told. After all, she'd already seen two people go before her.

"Ice-and-snow magic: one hundred gold coins."

"Ice-and-snow talent: ten thousand gold coins."

"..."

Sam: "..."

He didn't even bother reading the rest.

His eyes were completely glued to that price tag for Elsa's ice-and-snow talent.

Ten thousand.

What did that even mean?

He'd been signing in every day for five years and had only just crossed eleven thousand coins. And Elsa? Just one talent, and it was worth ten thousand.

"Uh... are you sure this isn't a mistake?" Sam asked.

Thinking back to Elsa's performance in the movie, the price still felt a little insane.

"Customer Elsa's ice-and-snow talent is valued primarily for its autonomous growth and its ability to enhance the wielder's ice-element potential," the Interdimensional Mercenary Guild explained.

"The autonomous growth effect depends on the world's level. Regardless of whether the wielder is sitting, lying down, standing, eating, or sleeping, their strength will continue to increase. Growth speed is uncertain, and the upper limit depends on the conditions of the wielder's world."

Seeing Sam dare to question it, the guild promptly spelled it out.

"...Damn," Sam muttered. "This is basically the magic-version Bald Cape Hero, isn't it?"

"....."
