Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Prologue

Lee Jae-hoon was born into poverty and worked hard, but all that remained was the loan he had to repay.

Unlike his friends, he struggled to enjoy the carefree youth of college, spending most of his time in the library, trying to earn even a small scholarship.

When he was exhausted from his part-time job and studying, he would read books to pass the time, when his mind no longer had the energy for anything else.

It wasn't because he was a person of high morals with a passion for reading. It was simply because he lacked the money and energy to enjoy other hobbies.

Lately, he has been reading about ancient Roman history.

He doesn't particularly like Rome, but he picked up a few books because he thought they would help him earn credits in Western history.

He also has an assignment to write a book review by researching notable figures from ancient history, so he decides to focus on it today.

One of the most famous figures from ancient Rome is Julius Caesar, who, despite being deeply in debt, managed to achieve great success.

This part of his story stands in stark contrast to Lee Jae-hoon's current situation, making him feel bitter.

'Yes, it was possible because the past and present are different... No, what am I thinking right now?'

The only thing left in his mind after feeling inferior to someone from the past was a deep sense of shame.

If I could read the future like I read the history in books, I'd be able to succeed beyond measure.

His eyes were strangely dull as he flipped through the pages, lost in these unproductive thoughts.

He had a fever yesterday but was still forced to work part-time. He felt that's why he was having these delusional fantasies of getting rich quickly.

I should have taken antipyretics, he thought. Maybe I should take a short nap before continuing this assignment.

He lay his head on the table, using a book as a pillow, and within seconds, he fell into a deep sleep.

Even as he was drifting off, his mind kept racing with thoughts of the loan interest he still had to repay.

Ugh! What a headache... If only I could live one day without worrying about money...

That was the last thought Jae-hoon had in his miserable life.
