Chapter 1 - Necklace

"Is it like those stories and novels? Do I need to drip my blood so it can recognise me as its master?"

Constantine looked at the necklace with strange yet ancient patterns lying on his table and mumbled.

It had appeared out of nowhere on his table today. At first, he thought it was a prank, or that some thief had left it behind after stealing from his house.

But after checking the CCTV footage, he realised he was wrong.

The necklace had simply appeared on the table after a flash of white light.

Since reading novels was his hobby, Constantine immediately associated it with the cheats found in those stories.

Try it!

Constantine pricked his finger with a needle.

A drop of blood fell onto the necklace.

The blood filled the pattern on the necklace, a sword with wings.

The necklace began to shine with a faint red light. At least it proved that the blood worked.

"Wow!"

Constantine looked at the necklace in surprise, waiting for its next reaction.

Five minutes passed. Nothing happened.

After a moment of thought, Constantine slaps himself. He realised the problem.

"I'm such an idiot. How can a necklace work if its master doesn't wear it?"

Constantine put it on. Still, nothing happened.

"What could it be lacking?" Constantine thought.

Activation.

The word appeared in his mind.

Constantine began thinking about the clichés in those novels, what the main character usually gained after obtaining such an item.

"System… no system?"

"Emm… cultivation? Not cultivation."

"Isekai? Are you going to send me to another world?"

The moment Constantine thought about being sent to another world through the necklace, a white light shone.

Constantine disappeared from his room.

---

"Ahhhh!"

A girl's scream reached Constantine's ears.

He opened his eyes and saw a golden shine above him.

From years of experience gained on the battlefield, he felt a sense of death.

His body reacted before he could think.

He rolled to the side.

Ding!

The sound of metal hitting the ground echoed.

Constantine rolled up in a second and saw a girl holding a golden dagger, stabbed at the position where he had been.

What the hell?

"Ehhh?"

The girl was confused by the sound as well, as her dagger had stabbed nothing.

Before Constantine could figure out what had happened, another golden light came into view. This time, he clearly saw a golden sword coming down toward his neck.

He immediately leaned back.

The sword passed just above his nose by mere centimetres.

As the sword passed, time seemed to slow.

The sword changed direction again, and the horizontal slash transformed into a downward cut.

With no other choice, Constantine could only turn his body and move backwards to gain some distance.

It was an elderly girl wearing a hood and a mask that covered her face, leaving only her eyes exposed. She was holding a golden sword.

Constantine glanced at his surroundings out of the corner of his eye.

It was a wooden house, clearly abandoned for years.

So this was the isekai, huh.

Was this the place where he was going to start his cheating life?

Constantine had already fallen into his imagination.

"Yaaaaa!"

A scream from the younger girl pulled Constantine's mind back. Compared to the hooded girl, she was clearly shorter.

She charged at Constantine with her dagger.

From the way she held the dagger and rushed at him, Constantine knew she was not experienced in using it.

"No! Bella, get back!"

The hooded girl shouted and tried to stop her.

It was too late.

He subdued Bella with a single move and took the dagger from her hand.

The dagger was pressed against Bella's neck, using her as a hostage.

"Step back!"

Constantine shouted.

At that moment, the hooded girl did not dare make another move.

"Who are you guys?"

Constantine asked.

"I'm afraid I can't answer either question. Let go of my sister, and we can have a discussion."

Ehhh, still bullshitting.

It seemed that if he didn't show them something, they wouldn't be honest, Constantine thought.

"I hate people who are not honest."

Constantine spoke coldly as the dagger in his hand pressed deeper into Bella's neck.

A trickle of blood began to flow.

Faced with the fear of death and the pain in her neck, Bella began to cry.

"I won't repeat my question."

"Don't bullshit with me."

Constantine thought this would force them to tell the truth.

However, he was wrong this time.

"I already told you that I can't answer either of your questions. Let my sister go."

As she finished speaking, the hooded girl's eyes turned red.

Then she charged at Constantine.

In a second, she was already behind him.

The sword chopped toward his head.

Constantine was greatly shocked.

Only one thought remained in his mind. Return to his room and leave this isekai.

A white light shone.

The next moment, a room full of alcohol bottles appeared before his eyes.

A room he was familiar with.

"Wow. I'm really going to be some kind of main character in those novels… if I can survive," Constantine sighed.

From his experience, he knew what kind of cheat he had unlocked.

A cheat that allowed him to travel to another world and return to his own.

He could bring whatever he carried into the other world.

But supposedly, there should also be a storage space.

Constantine shook his head. It wasn't important now.

"I need better equipment to survive in that world."

He walked to his bed and grabbed the AK47 from underneath it.

Constantine had grown up in a war zone. His parents and sister went missing after a massive explosion.

No one ever told him what exactly happened. But he knew. He understood.

He joined the army at the age of fourteen and is now twenty-four.

He spent eight of the last ten years in the military, leaving only two years ago for certain reasons.

But something had not left him.

The trauma he suffered from the war.

He went to a doctor, and the diagnosis was PTSD.

A common mental illness among veterans.

The medicine prescribed by the doctor was useless.

He found that only alcohol and the AK47 that had accompanied him for many years, made him feel safe enough to sleep.

Constantine always imagined enemies outside his room, ready to breach and kill him.

Thus, he had gathered several thousand rounds of ammunition in his room.

This time, Constantine collected ammunition and magazines along with his AK47.

"May the god of the AK47 protect me."

He looked at his rifle and prayed.

"Bitches, I'm coming back."

Constantine decided to return and take revenge.

Of course, he could stay safe in this world, but this feeling, this constant brush with death, was what he missed.

A white light shone.

Constantine saw the hooded girl and Bella hugging each other, celebrating their survival.

Constantine looked at the AK47 in his hands, and the fear disappeared.

Fear only exists when you don't have enough firepower.

He loaded the gun and pulled the trigger.

7.62mm bullets were fired toward them.

"Go die! Bitches."
