Bella's POV
The moment Vesta's men dumped me near my house, my knees nearly buckled. My fingers trembled so violently I could barely grip the door handle. The second I stumbled inside, I lunged for my phone, gasping for air like I'd been underwater. I pounded my fist against my chest, desperate to ease the crushing weight there.
I fumbled through my recent calls until I found her number. When Fiona answered, the dam broke. No words came at first, just ragged sobs and broken sounds.
"Fiona, she wants him, she's going to steal him from me," I choked out, pressing my palm against my ribs to keep from falling apart completely.
"Bella, slow down," Fiona's voice cut through my panic. I could hear her moving around, probably pacing her apartment. "What happened? Start from the beginning."
