She nods enthusiastically. "Yes. In his car, with the guards. I wouldn't have noticed if they weren't kissing all the way through..."
I turn on my heel and start walking.
It isn't the fact that he was with the woman. It was many other things. It was the fact that he didn't care enough about mine or my father's public image to keep his act together. It was also the fact that I had only ever lived in Astras, where most werewolves live, where my father built his castle, all my life.
I didn't know a single place in this city of Vampyrs. Tonight was my first time ever outside the castle. I am utterly unfamiliar with my surroundings.
He knew that. He knew it was well past midnight and there was no chance I could get a cab to the Royal Road where the castle was situated, far from civilization. He knew I had no cellphone, no money, nothing to get a place to sleep if need be.
And yet, he took the car.
Took the guards.
And he left me here.
