Chapter 12 - THE PLOT THICKENS

Ah-Rim was determined to find out what Park was up to. She had a bad feeling about him, and she was convinced that he was hiding something.

As she sat at her desk, she tried to come up with a plan to figure out what Park was doing. She could try to sneak into his office and look through his files, but that was too risky. She could try to talk to him and see if he would let something slip, but she didn't think he was that stupid.

Just then, Do-Hyun walked over to her desk.

Hey, Ah-Rim, he said. I need your help with something.

Ah-Rim looked up at him, curious.

What is it? she asked.

I need you to help me with a project, he said. It's a big one, and I need someone I can trust to help me with it.

Ah-Rim's heart skipped a beat. She was happy that Do-Hyun trusted her, but she was also worried. What if Park found out what she was doing? What if he tried to stop her?

But she didn't have time to think about that now. She had to focus on the task at hand.

Okay, she said. I'll help you.

Do-Hyun smiled and handed her a folder.

It's all in there, he said. Just read through it and let me know what you think.

Ah-Rim took the folder and began to read through it. As she did, she realized that it was a proposal for a new business venture. It was a good idea, but it would require a lot of work to get it off the ground.

Just then, Park walked over to her desk.

Hey, Ah-Rim, he said. What are you working on?

Ah-Rim looked up at him, trying to hide the folder.

Just some paperwork, she said.

Park raised an eyebrow.

Paperwork? he said. That doesn't look like paperwork to me.

Ah-Rim felt a surge of panic. She didn't want Park to know what she was working on.

It's just a proposal, she said. For a new business venture.

Park's eyes lit up.

A new business venture? he said. That sounds interesting. Can I take a look?

Ah-Rim hesitated. She didn't want to let Park see the proposal, but she didn't want to be rude either.

I don't think that's a good idea, she said. It's still in the planning stages.

Park frowned.

I see, he said. Well, maybe I can help with the planning stages then.

Ah-Rim felt a surge of panic. She didn't want Park involved in the planning stages. She didn't trust him.

I don't think that's necessary, she said. Do-Hyun and I have it under control.

Park raised an eyebrow.

I see, he said. Well, I'll let you get back to work then.

Ah-Rim nodded, feeling a sense of relief. She was glad that Park had given up so easily.

But as she watched him walk away, she couldn't shake the feeling that he was up to something. She decided to keep a close eye on him, just in case.

The rest of the day was uneventful, and Ah-Rim was able to focus on the proposal without any distractions. She made some notes and suggestions, and then took it to Do-Hyun's office.

Hey, she said. I'm finished with the proposal.

Do-Hyun looked up from his computer.

Great, he said. Let me take a look.

Ah-Rim handed him the folder, and he began to read through it. After a few minutes, he looked up at her.

This is great, he said. You're really good at this.

I'm glad you like it, Ah-Rim said, smiling.

Do-Hyun nodded.

I do, he said. You're a natural at this.

Ah-Rim blushed, feeling a sense of pride. She was glad that Do-Hyun was pleased with her work.

But then she remembered Park, and her smile faded. She didn't trust him, and she was worried about what he might do.

Do-Hyun, she said. Can I talk to you about something?

Do-Hyun looked up at her, concerned.

Of course, he said. What is it?

It's Park, Ah-Rim said. I don't trust him. I think he's up to something.

Do-Hyun frowned.

I don't think he is, he said. I think he's just trying to help.

Ah-Rim shook her head.

I don't think so, she said. I think he's hiding something.

Do-Hyun sighed.

Ah-Rim, I know you're worried, but I think you're being paranoid. Park is a good guy. He's just trying to help us.

Ah-Rim felt a surge of frustration. She knew that Do-Hyun wasn't listening to her, and it made her angry.

Fine, she said. But I'm still going to keep an eye on him.

Do-Hyun nodded.

Okay, he said. But I think you're wasting your time.

Ah-Rim left Do-Hyun's office, feeling frustrated and angry. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to protect Do-Hyun and his company, but she didn't know how.

As she walked back to her desk, she saw Park walking towards her. She felt a sense of unease, and she tried to avoid him.

But Park was too quick. He caught up to her and smiled.

Hey, Ah-Rim, he said. I've been meaning to talk to you.

Ah-Rim tried to keep walking, but Park grabbed her arm.

What is it? she asked, trying to shake him off.

I just wanted to ask you something, Park said. Do you like working here?

Ah-Rim was taken aback by the question. She didn't know what to say.

It's okay, I guess, she said finally.

Park smiled.

Just okay? he said. I would have thought you'd like it more than that.

Ah-Rim shrugged.

It's a job, she said.

Park laughed.

You're a tough one to crack, aren't you? he said. I like that.

Ah-Rim felt a sense of unease. She didn't like the way Park was talking to her.

Look, she said. I don't have time for this. I have work to do.

Park let go of her arm, and Ah-Rim quickly walked away. She didn't like Park, and she didn't trust him. She was going to have to keep a close eye on him.

The rest of the day was uneventful, and Ah-Rim was able to focus on her work. But she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see Park lurking around every corner.

Finally, it was time to go home. Ah-Rim was relieved to be leaving the office, and she quickly gathered her things.

As she was walking out the door, she saw Do-Hyun talking to Park. She felt a sense of unease, and she wondered what they were talking about.

But she didn't have time to worry about it now. She had to get home and take care of her sister.

As she walked home, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see Park following her.

But he wasn't there. At least, she didn't think he was.her sister was waiting for her.

Hey, sis, Ah-Rim said, smiling. How was your day?

Her sister smiled back.

It was good, she said. How about you?

Ah-Rim sighed.

It was okay, she said. I'm just glad to be home.

Her sister looked at her curiously.

What happened? she asked.

Ah-Rim shook her head.

Nothing, she said. I just had a weird day, that's all.

Her sister nodded.

Do you want to talk about it? she asked.

Ah-Rim thought for a moment. She didn't know if she wanted to talk about it or not. But then she decided that she might as well.

It's just...Park, she said. I don't trust him.

Her sister looked at her curiously.

What do you mean? she asked.

Ah-Rim sighed.

I don't know, she said. He just seems...off. And he's always lurking around, like he's waiting for something to happen.

Her sister frowned.

That does sound weird, she said. Maybe you should talk to Do-Hyun about it.

Ah-Rim shook her head.

I already did, she said. He just thinks I'm being paranoid.

Her sister nodded.

Well, maybe you should keep an eye on Park then, she said. See if you can figure out what he's up to.

Ah-Rim nodded.

That's what I was thinking, she said. I just hope I can catch him before he does something bad.

Her sister smiled.

I'm sure you will, she said. You're really smart, sis.

Ah-Rim smiled back.

Thanks, she said. I'll need all the help I can get.

The next day, Ah-Rim went to the office, determined to keep an eye on Park. She sat at her desk and tried to focus on her work, but she couldn't help sneaking glances at Park.

He was sitting at his desk, typing away on his computer. He looked like he was working hard, but Ah-Rim wasn't convinced.

As the day went on, Ah-Rim became more and more suspicious of Park. She was convinced that he was up to something, and she was determined to catch him.

Finally, she came up with a plan. She would sneak into Park's office and look through his files. That way, she could see if he was hiding anything.

She waited until Park left his office, then she snuck in and started looking through his files. At first, she didn't find anything suspicious. But then, she found a file labeled "Confidential".

She opened it, and what she saw made her blood run cold...
