Monday. 9:47 a.m.
The conference room was quiet except for the soft tap of rain on glass.
Kasia sat across from me. Black blouse, hair pinned, tablet open. Joanna beside her. Burgundy dress, laptop glowing.
Kasia spoke first.
"Tomasz stayed over again Saturday night. Left Sunday morning at 10:12. She kissed him at the door. Long. Said she'd call him Tuesday."
I nodded.
"Her phone logs show no searches on Thorn Publishing or Chronos_Architect since last Friday. No calls to the office. No emails."
Joanna added.
"She transferred €2,400 to Tomasz's account yesterday. Labeled 'gift.' No questions asked."
I leaned back.
"She's investing."
Kasia smiled small.
"She is."
Joanna closed her laptop.
"Fistoria's amendment draft leaked to us at 7:03 this morning. They're proposing to limit clause 7.12b to serialized text only. No claim on world-building, systems, or derivative rights. It's close. Not perfect, but close."
I opened the draft on my screen.
