"Good Morning!"
I heard a voice pulling me back into reality. It wasn't deep in a commanding sense.
It was gentle, velvety, slow. The kind that makes people lean forward and listen to.
Barely opening my eyes, I drowsed in sleep, staring in the direction of the voice.
But the first thing I noticed was the completely white room. Not a single piece of furniture or decoration in sight.
Except for the chair in front of me. A tall stool designed for a bar or high countertop.
And on it sat a rabbit.
Humanoid rabbit.
It was tall. Taller than most people.
His fur was soft, silvery white, and glowed with the touch of lights. He wore a deep smoky indigo three-piece tailored suit. Tiny moons acting as buttons, a universal hue in his tie as if he were binding the reality.
'What's happening?' I thought. I felt a strong sense of hangover, but I never drank.
I wasn't able to think straight. More like, I couldn't think straight. It was the atmosphere.
Plain but eerie. It gripped hold of my senses. I felt like the reason I'm alive is because of the room. I felt a strange and strong connection towards that rabbit.
But it didn't say anything, just stared, waiting for me to grab a hold of reality.
"Where am I?" I murmured.
"You're in my domain. A place where what you refer to as time doesn't exist." The rabbit spoke.
It was amused. It leaned forward with its legs crossed and its chin resting on its hands and stared at me.
"And...why am I here?" I asked. Even if it was a dream. It was strange. I've never once dreamt like this. I never had a pet rabbit for my emotions to hallucinate. Everything was strange. Dreams didn't feel this real.
"That's because you died. But I see that you don't want to admit that..." The rabbit replied.
'Died? I thought I had a month left with me…' I thought.
'But I guess…it's true,' I couldn't just deny the situation I was in. I was already ready for my death.
But…
"If I'm dead, then how do you explain this?" I asked, spreading my arms. I wanted to show him that I was perfectly fine.
"That's not your physical body... That's just a projection I found fit for our conversation", Rabbit replied.
"If you don't believe me, try clapping your hands," It added.
'Clap my hands?' I thought and brought my hands together with palms stretched for a loud clap.
But... my palms passed through each other.
As if I were a holographic image. Just surreal.
'Oh? This somehow feels impressive…'
"Acceptance... is an art in itself. And it looks like you are an artist." Rabbit's words pulled me out of my thoughts.
"How'd I die?" I asked, staring into his velvet eyes.
He smirked. "You know that already!"
'Yeah…Fuck the cancer,' I thought.
"Who are you then? A god? I don't think grim reapers looked like rabbits…" I asked.
"God, grim reaper, and even a rabbit god... would be an exaggeration. I am a mere observer. Orryn, in what I call myself." He replied.
"And why am I in your domain?" I followed with another question.
"Because you were meant to be here," He leaned back and spread his arms, as if he were declaring his deed.
"You won't remember how you died, what you did before your death, or even the little conversation we just had," Orryn spoke.
"I just wanted to have a look at you, before you wake up anew, of course," Orryn.
'The fuck is he on about?' I thought. 'Give me the context at least,'
"Don't worry…Truth will be revealed with time…Although you would never remember this…" Orryn paused.
He leaned in and stared into my eyes with a smirk.
"This will be my gift for you on your journey to #################,"
'What?' I couldn't hear him.
It was as if the space glitched to his words.
And as if some TV had been turned off. I was left alone in the darkness again.
