Chapter 3 - Cycle of the Heavens

The Earth.

Before transmigrating to the Murim world, he had lived on a planet called Earth, in a small solar system within the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy.

The Earth was his true home—the place where he was born and raised in both love and tragedy. Thus, the sudden mention of him being transported back to his home planet left him stunned.

Moreover, he had assumed he was transmigrated into someone within the Murim world, because crossing universes is impossible.

"But i have...."

Cheon Ma-Jeong paused for a moment and started recalling a time from his previous life—a time when he was still a naive kid pursuing knowledge, a time when he learned many things about the Heavens. One of those was that:

"One can't cross universes because of the Heavenly Principles. They act as a prison, trapping mortal souls for unknown causes. For one to cross universes, one must break free from this prison and step beyond. However, even if one were to defy the Heavens and step beyond them, what use would that be? There would still be another Heaven. This cycle of causality continues until one's existence is erased by the Heavens. This is the Cycle of the Heavens."

But since he had transmigrated from Earth to the Murim world, he knew there was a loophole, and he wanted to use it to go back to Earth, to kill the man who had killed him and probably his father too. But after spending some time in the Murim world, he had lost interest in it and started aiming for immortality.

And now, through the eyes of his own involvement, it seemed the loophole he was curious about was entertained by the Boundless Scroll. It had bypassed the Heavenly Principles and transported him to another universe.

Cheon Ma-Jeong sneered with an indifferent expression and parted his withered lips.

"The Heavens only exist because people believe they exist. This is the absolute truth. Even there was a time when I also thought, 'How can we break free from the Heavens?' But all I needed was to remove the Heavens from my heart."

After expressing this existential insight, he collected his thoughts and focused on what was at hand.

His eyes swept over the new name on the system window. It was the name of the body Cheon Ma has transmigrated into,

"Theron Noirvale… Noirvale County?"

Cheon Ma grew immersed in thought, wondering who the body's owner might be, why he chose suicide, and many other things. Just then, a sudden loud knock came at the door. It cut through his thoughts and pulled him back to reality.

Knock! Knock!

"πάππας." Alongside the loud knocks, a young girl's voice reached out from behind the door.

"Πάππας, ἡ Κυρία Ἄρβην Ἐβκαρτίν ἐνθάδε ἐστίν."

The young girl was saying something in a strange language that Cheon Ma had never heard—perhaps the native language of this country.

Cheon Ma stayed quiet and calmly commanded the system window to activate translation.

"Papa, papa!"

As soon as the system activated the translation feature, Cheon Ma could understand the young girl's words.

"Papa, Lady Arwen Evcartin is here to meet you."

"....." Cheon Ma quickly realized the young girl outside was the child of Theron Noirvale, the owner of the body he has transmigrated into.

In response, Cheon Ma slowly walked toward the wooden door and gazed at the sliding bolts.

Click. Click. Click.

As he unlocked the bolts, the wooden door opened, revealing a large, spacious room with many luxurious pieces of furniture—such as plush couches, a gold-embellished wardrobe, numerous golden vases, a golden chandelier, a sleek study desk, and a showcase filled with toys—far more extravagant than the simple desk and bookshelf inside.

In the corners of the room were two beds: one normal bed and a smaller, colorful bed filled with toys and dolls.

Cheon Ma's gaze swept past the surroundings and fell upon the young girl standing before him.

She was around six years old, with large purple eyes framed by thick black lashes, pale face adorned with a small mole beneath her left eye, and silky dark-purple hair falling just below her shoulder blades. She was wearing a lovely light blue dress that looked both elegant and majestic. Her gentle expression also added to her cuteness, making her look like a princess from a fairytale.

"Papa!" the young girl suddenly shouted. With a fearful expression, she rushed to him and clung to him with her small, gentle hands.

"Papa, are you hurt?" she said, her eyes holding faint tears "Why is there blood?"

She was referring to the blood on his tattered clothes, spilled when Theron Noirvale had attempted suicide.

In response, Cheon Ma raised his hand and placed it on her head, patting her gently as he said with a warm smile, "Sorry for making you worry, dear. This is fake blood."

Seeing Cheon Ma smile and finding no visible wounds, her little heart lit up, and she buried her face against his thigh. "Papa, you're a meanie, making Solmira scared."

The young girl, who had just introduced herself as Solmira, laughed with teary eyes. Then she ran with her little legs toward the wardrobe and scrambled through it to find a decent dress for her father.

Meanwhile, Cheon Ma looked at her with an indifferent gaze. In his previous life, he had done many cruel things without hesitation; similarly, he had also done many good deeds without expecting anything in return. Thus, he did not see himself as morally defined. To him, good and evil were tools, not identities. Even the little girl before him was no different from the many of her age he had sacrificed.

Even the warmth he had just shown toward her was a form of self-interest. Having just transmigrated and lost his cultivation progress, he needed to cultivate in peace. If he acted coldly toward Theron's daughter, it would only arouse suspicion about his identity.

Cheon Ma-jeong was, after all, a pragmatic person… and from now on, he would be Theron Noirvale, living a life in pursuit of maximum benefits.
