Evan's eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the bright rays from the sun, his gaze falling on the well cut green Meadows just outside in his mother's garden, he stretched, wriggling on top of the bed, satisfyingly.
He sat up, judging from how bright the light was, Evan was certain it was already in the afternoon, "I woke up early this time," he muttered silently, he rubbed his eyes, stretching again, adjusting a few loose bones in his body.
He stood up, took a bath then changed his clothes, he pushed the curtains open and yelled, "good afternoon Evernia!"
The few maidens who worked the lawns gave him a lewd stare, he didn't mind and shut the windows back, Walking towards the door of his room and opening it.
Moving the door side ways, he was met by a streak of stairs, even if they were just ten, Evan was mad, why'd he have to walk down the stairs every time he wondered to himself, there was nothing he could do about it, afterall his father owns the mansion.
After walking down the stairs, taking a few turns and passing through hallways, Evan arrived at the dining hall, in which the table was adorned with meals of all sort, even a few imported from some cities far away.
On entering the hall, Evan's shoulders brushed with someone else's, it was a maid, he hurriedly took a stare, proceeding to approach the table where the rest of his family sat.
After taking the quick peak, Evan uncontrollably stopped in his tracks, he was shocked to the hilt. His mouth dangling slightly open, he turned, but she'd already faced back, it was a female maid, with pink hair and ultimately intense beauty, not that they didn't have female maids in their mansion but it had never occurred for a teenager to work as a maid in his father's mansion.
"Evan?"
"What's wrong?"
Evan's mother called from a side on the dining table staring at her son, who stood at the entrance of the hall, seemingly peering at the walls outside of it. Evan turned, it's nothing mother, sleep hasn't cleared off my eyes yet, yesterday was surprisingly hot.
Come on over, we've been waiting for you, His father spoke glancing at the king size meal, rubbing his palms.
"There's something wrong with the weather lately, if it becomes too harsh, we could move to one of our mansions on the northern side of the coast." His mother suggested.
Evan grabbed the top of the metal chair, pulling it backwards, the chair screeched as he pulled, he sat, savouring the various meals laid at his front. He joined both of his hands together, "Thank you for the meal."They all echoed with their eyes closed and their hands joined together.
Evan dug in, rapidly demolishing through each mound of food, and eating it with his fork, as they ate, his father began chatting about the progress on his businesses. Evan eyes strayed to his little sister, who was focused on her food, she slowly ate each piece, delight filled in each.
A smile tugged in both sides of his lips, as he watched his little sister Isla eat, her innocent presence enough was a reason to wake up every day. After a few minutes of eating his father went out to the store house filled with the goods they were to sell this winter.
Evan used a napkin to wipe his mouth, standing up from his chair, I'll be returning toy room now mother. Alright Evan, don't sleep again, I won't.
Evan turned and walked backwards towards the entrance of the hall, his hands dangling to and fro.
He was unexpectedly hugged from the side, he stared down at the figure it was his little sister, Isla. "Brother, don't tell me you're going to sleep again," she spoke, staring up towards him.
"Well there's nothing else to do really."
"Yes there is," she pouted, "let's go speak to mister frog," just outside in the pond, "That's not much of a bad idea," Evan answered.
"Well what are we waiting for?" She grabbed Evans hands and pulled him out of the mansion as fast as she could.
Just at the front of the well cut lawn, they both laid down on the ground flat, a flowing stream played right at their front.
"Isla are you alright?" Lex called, worried. "I'm fine, I think." They had stopped and started walking from the first set of stairs they'd climbed down from in the mansion and yet, they were still tired.
After a few more minutes of profuse breathing, they both sat up and stared at the pond, "that's strange," Evan spoke peering at the pond, "the frog's meant to have come out already"
"Mister frog?!"
Isla called staring at the stream, wearily, he's probably asleep, Evan consoled, "he's probably at the other end of the stream again, I'll go check It out, alright?"
"Alright," answered Isla, staring at the stream sadly. Evan walked to the other side of the stream, staring intently into the stream, the talking frog was really gone, he hadn't seen it for a few days now, he clicked his tongue sighing deeply, something strange was going on, he could feel it, not only the weather or the animals have been acting strange.
But the rulers too, including the nobles, people were disappearing in the city too often and without a trace, the days felt like a dreadful calm before a long lasting storm.
How would I get her occupied now, he muttered to himself, usually the wizard frequently came to cheer her up with his little tricks, both he'd also gone missing, he had made the frog in the pond talk as her fifth year birthday gift, to keep her company whenever he couldn't make it or evan was asleep.
"Anything you may need help with master Evan?"
Evan turned his gaze to the speaking voice, and was immediately taken aback at the alluring sight of the pink headed young maid!
