Chapter 3 - Pure will

He recalled all the stories his uncle Maxon had always told him about her, how she was the fiercest of warriors he'd ever known, he'd always taking it casually, but now that he was close to the brink of death, all of these had to mean something.

Bayu shifted his gaze away from the blinding rays of the sun light, stating straight at the archaic monster, the monster had rested when he struck him earlier, but now seemed stunned, seeing the amount of blood that continuously dripped from his waist, and yet he stood, though not balanced but strong.

Bayu took a gaze at his spear, he echoed in his mind, "I would not fall, you will destroy this archaic beast today and pierce through its heart," bayu could feel the tension in the air, the suprised yet sorrowful gazes of the most who sat at the arena was obvious, along with his team who were in the cages earlier.

The archaic monster shrieked, following the shriek was a launch of it's fangs towards bayu, bayu was shocked, the fangs shot towards him at grave speed, bayu moved his body, but all his senses seemed to have went to a halt at that moment.

He luckily tilted to the side a bit, the fangs dug into his chest on the right side.

"Argh!"

Bayu yelled as he got hold of his chest with his left hand, the wound was now drenched with blood, drizzling, from the holes his hand couldn't cover.

The archaic beast leapt at him, seemingly floating on air, diving at him at break neck speed.

"I don't want to die,' bayu echoed in his mind, the scattered horns of the archaic beast got closer.

Bayu summoned up courage, goose bumps over flowing his body, he felt his heart beat at rocket speed, his whole body reached its limit and broke through!

Crash!

The archaic beast lunged an attack, dust rose covering the view in the arena, the remaining members in bayu's team peeped out through the window anxious.

Uncle Maxon and his daughter, also stared down in curiosity, peering at a particular direction on the hot sands. The dust cleared, the daughter of the chief leaned in closer.

The figure of the archaic beast could be seen with its scattered horn dug directly in the position were bayu had stood earlier,

The archaic beast rose on its two large limbs, it's blood shot eyes glaring directly at the sands!

Bayu was no longer there, the archaic beast paced around, spotting bayu, he stood a few feet behind it, facing the other direction, his head nodded to the ground. Bayu's hand remained on his chest were he was wounded, the blood that was flowing rigorously earlier seemed to have stop.

He felt this strange feeling from behind like an attack, he leaped, over eight feet above the sands!

Everyone present in the arena was shocked, the host who stood close to the chiefs daughter's chair was horrified, the ones who had stood in the arena were fazed, along with the prisoners, what bayu had just done was basically impossible.

Bayu landed steadily on the ground, his arms no longer tweaking, his stamina balanced, his hands clenched to the green spear, he had dodged a sneak attack from the archaic beast, without even peeping to know when to attack.

The archaic best infuriated, went for another strike, bayu dodged, moving to the side, the archaic beast didn't hesitate, proceeding to strike again, bayu simultaneously dodged, this time quicker than earlier.

The archaic beast seeing the clear difference in the speed fell back, keeping a bit of distance between him and bayu, bayu on instinct, began twirling the spear with his fingers.

Regularly, he could barely hold the green spear, but now, now something felt absolutely different, his heart thumped a hundred times faster than usual.

He felt honed, as if skills he never possessed suddenly befell him, he twirled the spear faster and faster then suddenly halted stretching the spear forward holding it at it's edge.

The others in the arena, waited curiously for the next action bayu was about to take.

Fangs formed in the deadly looking monkey face of the archaic beast, about three of them, evolving from its mouth, straightening up and shooting towards him.

Everything seemed to stop as the fangs shot towards bayu at unseen speed, one feet away from bayu's spear, the fangs shattered into a thousand pieces, spilling all over the arena's sands.

The archaic beast shot more, bayu immediately got into stance accurately parrying each and everyone of the fangs with the sharp tip of the green spear breaking them after wards.

After dozens of fangs were shot, the archaic beast halted, growling hard and lunging at him, bayu leapt also lunging towards the archaic beast.

A few inches from impact bayu pushed himself hard to go faster, his figure vanished, landing directly on the position the archaic beast had stood earlier, his green spear wet with blood, the upper edge gleaming fadely in green energy of some sort, the archaic beast fell towards the sandy ground, a terrible strike cut through the middle of its body, it's eyes sank.

Bayu stood still in the position, the green spear still held tightly in his hands, his ragged outfit flowing rhythmically with the wind.

He fell on his knees, "I did it," he muttered to himself, still holding the spear tightly in his hands, pressed into the sandy grounds, he turned taking a stare at the dead archaic beast.

A smile graced maxon's face, he could finally keep his promise to his sister, Bayu did not die, he clenched his fists. "Yes!"

He wiped off the sweat on his fore head, taking a peek at the chief's daughter, he could see a rare smile on her face, she immediately stood and left the arena.

The team members of bayu squealed in joy and gladness, the fact that he had defeated one of the beasts meant they were now all free and could walk alive again.

Bayu coughed blood, more blood drizzling from his nose, the wounds in his waist and chest reopened blood flowing out from it,he felt that strength he had earlier disappear.

The pure will, vanish!
