"I can't believe she is still sleeping."
Straw dropped the tray on the table, the plates rattling against each other. She stared at the bed. Berryanna had not moved. Same position. Same arm wrapped around the stuffed bear. Same calm face pressed halfway into the pillow like nothing in the world could disturb her.
Straw climbed onto the bed slowly, careful not to bounce the mattress. She moved closer on her knees and leaned over her.
She watched her face. Really watched.
The way her lashes rested against her cheeks. The faint crease near her brow. The softness in her mouth that never showed when she was awake.
Straw smiled. It stayed there for a few seconds. Then a thought slipped in.
"Is she…."
