Chapter 7 - 3. First Meet

Author's POV

It was Sunday....

It was noon. Meera got ready in her yellow saree. She is going to her friend's housewarming ceremony. She came out of her room and saw Aakash sitting on the couch doing something on his phone. She asked Aakash if he would join her, but he denied. Meera didn't force him, as she knew he had no interest in family functions. Meera waved him goodbye and left the house.

After his mother left, Aakash went to the kitchen and started making lunch. He had his breakfast late; that's why he thought of eating something light. He made poha as it would be a light meal. He also loves poha.

After he had his lunch, he attended the meeting that was scheduled for today. Then, he worked on his new project for quite some time.

At 2 pm, Aakash went out of his room and sat on the couch. He looked up at the ceiling for a while. He remembered that yesterday his mother had told him she had to buy groceries. But couldn't go as she had got a call from her friend who asked her to join jewelry shopping for the housewarming.

Aakash decided to go and purchase groceries. He also decided that he would meet his friend, as it had been many days since they last met. He went back to his room and came back wearing a dark navy-blue shirt and beige pants. He wore white shoes, and a watch was adorned on his wrist. Aakash informed his friend that he would see him after some time.

..

Esha came out of the room. She wore a long white kurti with blue flowers and jeans. She completed her look with jhumkis, a big bangle, and minimal makeup.

She was heading outside the house when Ramesh, her father, asked her.

"Kaha jaa rahi hai tu ? Aaj toh Sunday hai na."

("Where are you going? Today is Sunday, na.")

"Papa, mein Academy nahi balki Neha ke saath café jaa rahi hu. Phir hum shopping karna jaa rahe hai. Mein shaam tak aa jaungi."

("Papa, I am not going to the Academy but to a café with Neha. Then, we are going shopping.")

"Ok, par sambhal ke jana."

("Ok, but be careful.")

"Theek hai, papa." Saying this, she headed towards her car. She unlocked her car and started it.

("Ok, papa")

Esha stopped at the 'Nature's Cafe' and parked her car in the parking lot. After coming in, she quickly scanned the café for an empty table. She found her best friend, Neha, who was sitting on a table near the window. She went to the table and sat on the opposite side where Neha was sitting.

"Hey, tu kab aayi?"

("Hey, when did you come?")

"10 minute pehele hi aayi. Pehele order deke phir baat karenge, Ok?"

("I came just 10 minutes ago. We will talk after placing the order. Ok?")

"Haa"

They ordered and started a conversation again. They ordered two cappuccinos, a grilled sandwich, and pizza.

"Kaisa chal raha hai tera kaam?"

("How's your work going?")

"Theek hi chal raha hai. Month month end ka kaam khatam hogaya, ab thoda relax kar sakti hoon mein. Tu bata, tera academy kaisa chal raha hai?"

("It's going well. The work for the end of the month is done; now I can relax a bit. You tell me, how is your academy going?")

"Accha chal raha hai."

("It is going good.")

"Mein kai dino se soch rahi thi ki, weekends par teri academy join karlu. Isi bahane kaam se thoda break bhi ho jayega aur kuch naya bhi seekh lungi. Yeh mein tujhe ussi din pucchne wali thi, but mujhe ek call aagaya and I had to receive the call." Neha said excitedly, holding Esha's hands.

("I had been thinking for several days that I should join your academy on weekends. This way, I'll get a little break from work, and I can learn something new as well. I was going to ask you on that same day, but I received a call and I had to take it.")

"Yeh accha idea hai. Phir kab se join kar rahi hai?"

("It is a good idea. From when will you be joining?")

"Uske baare mein socha nahi"

("I didn't think of it.")

"Ek kaam kar, next Saturday se join kar lena weekend batches mein, theek hai?"

("Do one thing, join the weekend batches from next Saturday, Ok?")

"Ha"

Their food came. They ate and continued their conversation for quite a long time.

After an hour, they both got up from the table and paid the bill. The next thing on their list was to go shopping. They both went to the Atlas Mall in Esha's car.

It was 6 in the evening; it had been raining heavily for three hours. Esha dropped Neha at her house and was heading home. She turned on and enjoyed the soft songs and the weather.

She had been driving for 20 minutes after dropping Neha at her house when suddenly her car stopped with a creaking noise. She tried to start her car, but unfortunately, it didn't start. She was stuck between the Delhi Ridge. Neha lived in New Delhi, and Esha lived in Old Delhi. To go to meet Neha, Esha should always pass the Delhi Ridge.

Esha took a sigh, took her umbrella, and got out of the car. She opened her car's bonnet and tried to find the fault in the car's engine. She spent a lot of time scrutinizing the engine. At last, she gave up and decided to call for help. She called her father, but due to the rain, the signals in her phone were poor.

She kept her phone in her jeans pocket and decided to seek help from the people in that area. She found the area a little isolated. She saw a car passing by and waved her hand. But it seemed that the driver didn't notice her and went away right beside her.

Aakash's POV

After the grocery shopping, I went to my friend's house. We spent a great time talking about our families and then about business. We looked at the time; it was 5:45 already.

We both drank coffee, and I took my leave as Maa told me she would return by evening. After the coffee was done, I waved him bye and took my leave.

After a 25-minute drive, I entered the jungle area. My friend lives in Old Delhi. I had to go all through the jungle area to meet him.

I was driving and enjoying the weather when I saw a car parked on the side of the road. When I drove past the car, I saw its bonnet was open and a lady was standing near the car doing something on her phone. Maybe she was trying to call someone.

It was already getting dark, and this place became isolated in the dark. I thought for a moment and reversed my car. I came out of my car and opened my umbrella. I went to the woman; she was standing with her back towards my side.

"Hello, Miss, do you need help?" Aakash asked in a very soft tone, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. She heard me and turned....
