Chapter 49 - Chapter 49

Lyren was quick to escape. He was going to play his victim role till the end. At the moment, he was peering behind a tree observing everything that was going on.

He could see Sera looking around probably in search for him but she gave up and gave the command that everyone should attack using ultimate attacks.

Thinking of ultimate attacks, Lyren did not have any attack. His mastery over the VANTAGELESS BLADE was very limited to even be called an ultimate technique.

He had seen the sword attacks and how they were easily deflected. Well, that was what you would expect when stage six guys attacked a stage eight beast. It was even a wonder that they were still alive after taking a deflection and injuries.

He looked at the three flower girls who had retreated to the far back. Maybe rather than retreating, they should have hid like him.

He could not help but wonder how the leader was not making such a call. They would have more options if they were not protecting someone. He sighed as he saw the new attack.

The two six stage swordmen started performing their technique and this time it was different since it actually took longer to perform it.

The difference was that the blue glow had turned to what appeared like a water wave and when the two guys jumped, it appeared as though an ocean wave was crushing down at the deer.

The deer saw this as nothing but a puny attack as it released the wind once again and countered the two guys sending them flying backwards once more.

It was different this time though as the two guys skidded backwards with serious looks on their faces.

There was a moment of blindness because of the water that was released after the collision and as it cleared, the deer was unaware of the three flaming arrows that were flying at it and they pierced into it.

But there was a clang as the arrows were crushed from the tip and falling to the ground.

This should have put a dent on their morale but it was just in time as the eighth stage bowman released his own arrow.

One could have ignored it but it was accompanied by the wind element.

The deer was once again caught off guard and the trajectory of this arrow seemed to waver. Unable to counter, the deer could only trust in its own defenses.

And that was where it was mistaken it its judgement because the wind laced arrow tore through the wind barrier piercing into the knee.

There was a slight deflection and the arrow only left a slightly deep cut on the knee. The guy clicked when he saw this but it was obvious that their attacks had changed.

The deer screeched wide eyed as its red eyes glared at the group. It had finally been fully enraged by that attack.

What came next was going to be a testament of the peak eighth stage as the deer vanished. No, it was too fast. Wind was a fast element and the black deer was called a Black-horned gale deer.

The only few who could keep up were the eight stage guys and the seventh stage spearman just barely and obviously the hidden Lyren. The rest just stood confused because the deer was no longer standing before them.

"Jump to the side!" Sera shouted pulling them from their daze. But they were a step late as the stage six bow user girls were suddenly assaulted.

The horns made contact with the three of them sending two of them flying and the middle one of them was caught in the horns as the robe was pierced and some horns piercing into her body.

This was the same lady who had lied. The deer had not expected that the human would get stuck in its horns and it decided to get rid of her.

Well, the only way was shaking its head until the human was blown away but it was not happening.

It tried several things like jumping up and down but it just appeared like the human kept digging deeper into its horns.

The deer screeched again as it stood on its hind legs as it had the thought of ramming the human into the ground.

No one was moving. Several were lying on the ground after escaping the deer while the two girls had been thrown away and one of them had hit a tree.

Sera was also on the ground having rolled away and she watched this scene very horrified. Not even Kaelen could move. The girl on the horns was not screaming and her blood had started painting the green grass red.

"Julia!"

The girl who had hit the tree screamed and her cries drowned the horror everyone was experiencing.

It was just in time to witness the deer jumping and shaking its head and they were once again caught in their trance.

The sight even for a veteran might have had a traumatic effect let alone they who were just teens with the oldest of them being fifteen years old.

This might have been the first time they were witnessing how unpredictable the battlefield was. They were learning and so was the hidden Lyren.

He was also for the first time seeing such a scene and he realized there were variables that one could not account for and they could not be taken into consideration even with numbers.

And that was mentality.

If no one moved, the deer was going to ram the girl into the ground turning her to minced. That was going to be even more traumatic than what they were just witnessing.

"Someone move…" Lyren was almost begging them to move but none of them seemed to think they could move and all they could think of was that they were probably next.

"What a drag…"

Lyren was not the type to play hero but if the girl got crushed here, then the whole group was going to meet its end here.

Lyren did not know how his strength compared to them but his speed was probably faster than them all. He reached the deer just in time as it was about to lower its body.

Lyren clenched his fist as he punched at the deer before it could fall. There was a moment of silence as his hand reverberated from the impact.

PThe deer stopped its spree as it was brought back to its senses. The punch that hit it was not enough to cause it any damage but it was enough to send a jolt of pain though it to the brain as it stopped its tantrum.

Sera was also caught in a similar situation to Lyren a few seconds ago as she had analyzed what Lyren had. If Julia died, the effect it would have on their psyche might be enough to bring an end to them all.

"Someone please move…"

And it was then it happened when she saw Lyren running toward the deer when it raised its feet.

"Not you…" she felt like crying when she saw that it was the weakest of them who had no cultivation to speak of was moving.

"Why?" This came out as a plea.

She watched as the kid put his life on the line and punch the deer which was probably the smartest thing that a non-cultivator could come up with.

The deer was also stopped on its hind legs and it seemed to remember that it could blow wind from its horns as it sent Julia flying and rolling several meters away.

It then landed on all legs and it started scratching the ground with its hurt leg and glared at the ant that had punched it. It seemed to vanish as it rammed into Lyren who was sent flying the furthest…

Sera was left reaching her hand out as her eyes shone with a ferocious light. She was mad.

A kid younger than her had beaten her in a psychological battle and to make matters worse, she did not know whether Julia was still alive and also whether Lyren had been hit badly.

She stood up and let out a scream that pierced trough to the brains of her group…
