Chapter 19 - The Unexpectedly Exposed Evil God Incident

After dinner, Kasumigaoka Utaha lay lazily on the sofa. She turned her head to look at Kawashima Toya, who was sitting to the side. "Kawashima, aren't you bored at home?"

"Even though you went out and killed an infected dachshund today."

"Do you want me to help you enroll in Toyogasaki Academy? That way, we can be classmates."

"I'm not going. I'm not going to school," Toya refused firmly, shaking his head. "Don't let my current appearance fool you; I graduated from university a long time ago."

He wasn't sure if it was due to the system, but when he transmigrated, he had reverted from his twenties back to how he looked at sixteen.

Although he was younger—and still handsome—his desire to avoid studying hadn't changed a bit.

Utaha looked at him incredulously. "You've graduated from university?"

"You don't look like it at all..."

Then, realization dawned on her.

There are many academic achievers in this world.

Not to mention Toya—if he could slay demons and eliminate evil, he certainly wouldn't be lacking in other areas.

Utaha's slender hands typed fluently on the keyboard as she spoke without turning her head. "Kawashima, how about I write our experiences into a light novel?"

"You can try."

Toya looked at Utaha's exquisite face with a teasing expression. "But when readers infected by Evil Gods block your door demanding updates, you'll know the consequences."

"It wouldn't be that scary, would it?" Utaha shrank back slightly, a chill running through her delicate body.

"You can try."

Toya's smile remained brilliant, but it was filled with mockery.

"Forget it. I'll stick to writing Metronome in Love," Utaha said helplessly, snuffing out that spark of inspiration.

Toya nodded in agreement. "Evil Gods can perceive when they are called upon."

"Even if it's just recorded in a light novel, or even just on the internet, it can become a medium for transmission."

"Once readers see it, they might get infected."

"Stop talking, I'll kill the idea," Utaha hurriedly promised.

"Writing slice-of-life stories shouldn't be a problem."

A few minutes later...

Utaha complained with a look of annoyance, "Ugh, these class group chats are never quiet."

"The message count explodes every day."

"Just mute them, can't you?" Toya looked at her as if she were an idiot. "If it disturbs your work, just mute it directly."

"But I can't bring myself to," Utaha said, lightly touching the corner of her exquisite mouth. "You don't know what it's like in the Toyogasaki Academy class group chat."

"It's full of paranormal topics, and everyone is chatting passionately."

"If it were just empty ghost stories, I wouldn't be interested."

"But the topics are actually quite amusing."

Toya felt a spark of interest. "What kind of urban legends?"

He was quite interested in gossip about Japanese urban legends or school mysteries.

In his previous life in his home country, supernatural phenomena were banned from media, so legends of demons and ghosts could only be seen in old fiction.

"It's not an urban legend." Utaha pushed her laptop over. "It's about a pet dog that was brutally dismembered by an evil spirit."

"Mere animal abuse wouldn't be enough to alarm us."

"The key is that the dog died in a very unscientific way. Its body was sliced in two smoothly, as if by a terrifying force."

"A classmate asked a relative who is a forensic doctor at the Metropolitan Police Department to help evaluate it, and the conclusion was that no human could have done it."

"Even the sharpest, fastest machines couldn't have killed this pet dog so cruelly."

As she spoke, a picture was posted in Utaha's class group chat.

Although it was pixelated, one could still discern that it was a dachshund.

Utaha spat disdainfully at the "evil spirit," completely failing to notice Toya's strange expression beside her.

Toya gently poked Utaha's slender, pale shoulder and said helplessly, "Stop talking. That culprit... was me."

He had wanted to just be a spectator, but unexpectedly, the first piece of gossip was about him.

"It was you?" Utaha looked at Toya in disbelief. "Since when do you have a hobby of torturing pet dogs?"

"Wasn't that dog infected by the Evil God's aura?"

"If you killed an infected dog with your methods, shouldn't it have dissipated?"

Toya replied grumpily, "Of course I don't have a hobby of torturing dogs. The issue was that the dog hadn't been infected for long."

He then recounted the events of the afternoon to Utaha.

Utaha's beautiful eyes held a complex look. "So, basically, the dog was too weak after being polluted, and you accidentally sliced it in half."

Toya spread his hands. "Otherwise, do you think I wouldn't have wanted to destroy it completely?"

"Heh heh, you're famous now."

Utaha wasn't angry at Toya's actions; instead, she teased him. "The dog abuse incident has sparked a lot of anger."

"Although there are rumors it was the work of an evil spirit, the dog's owner refuses to believe it."

"She swore to find the culprit!"

"You're probably going to have a hard time recently."

Toya asked, puzzled, "Why would I have a hard time?"
