Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Breeding House Gengar Cup

Gothorita brought two drinks and handed them to Lucas and Gary, who were engrossed in their work.

After the recommendations from Jenny and Joy of Twinleaf Town and Professor Rowan of Sandgem Town over the past two days, the number of trainers registered for the competition in both locations reached 38.

Lucas and Gary were currently arranging the procedures.

"Thank you, Gothorita."

Lucas took the drink, took a sip, and thanked the Gothorita beside him.

"Goth—"

Patting its small head, Lucas lowered his head and continued to process the procedures for the upcoming arena battle.

For this arena battle, Lucas would offer a pokémon egg as the Champion's prize.

As for the second and third place winners, they would only receive energy cubes.

After all, it was just a Breeding House; the only things he could offer were pokémon eggs and energy cubes.

However, the top three would receive discounts on services purchased at the Breeding House.

For example, services like purchasing pokémon eggs or boarding Pokémon.

They would receive 50%, 30%, and 20% off respectively.

Lucas looked at the rewards and felt they were quite generous, nodding in satisfaction.

Gary, meanwhile, was arranging the combat logistics for the event staff.

Once the two had finished discussing, they exchanged glances, both indicating that everything was in order.

The first Breeding House arena battle was officially confirmed.

It would officially begin tomorrow.

Lucas took Gengar and the others to the open space outside. Since the Breeding House was the only building nearby, the road from Twinleaf Town to Sandgem Town was extremely spacious, more than enough for a small-scale arena battle.

There was even plenty of extra space for stalls.

Gary forwarded the event schedule to the group chat of the participating contestants.

Then, he and Lucas began to set up the venue simply.

Finally, a large board was erected, on which Lucas and the Breeding House's Pokémon were drawn.

The name was "Breeding House Arena Battle: Gengar Cup."

The Breeding House's Pokémon looked at the large board in front of them, lost in thought.

Lucas smiled and then said:

"If we hold it again next time, it will be called the 'Shauna Cup,' the 'Petilil Cup,' the 'Dash Cup'—and so on."

As soon as he finished speaking, the Breeding House's Pokémon cheered together.

Especially Gengar; it floated in front of the large board, elegantly made a peace sign, and asked Lucas to take a picture of it.

Lucas smiled, then went back into the Breeding House to get his camera and took a photo of Gengar with the words "Gengar Cup" on the large board.

After all this was done, Lucas returned to the Breeding House and handed the prepared herbal tea to Shauna.

Today, only Shauna and Gary's Arcanine were going to Twinleaf Town to deliver the herbal tea; of course, Staravia would follow behind them.

Back in the Breeding House, Lucas lay in the resting area, happily scrolling through videos on his phone.

Vulpix lay quietly in his arms, and Lucas gently stroked her with his hand.

Gengar had disappeared somewhere again; hopefully, it wasn't to bother Vespiquen for a few days.

After lying down for a while, the phone rang. Lucas answered, and Shauna's voice came from the other end.

"Uncle, Grandpa Manny and the others have something they want to tell you."

Lucas found it a bit strange; Grandpa Manny and the others also had his contact information, so why did they always ask Shauna to contact him on their behalf?

Nevertheless, he still asked Shauna to hand the device to Grandpa Manny and the others.

"Hello, is this Shopkeeper Lucas?"

"Grandpa Manny, Shauna said you seemed to have something to discuss with me."

On the other end of the phone, Grandpa Manny laughed heartily and then spoke about the matter he had discussed with Yask two days prior.

In essence, Grandpa Manny saw that Lucas's Breeding House was planning an arena battle, and many people might come, so he thought of going to the Breeding House with a few other elders from Twinleaf Town to set up a stall in an open space.

He wanted to see if they could leverage the Breeding House's popularity to sell their items.

"I guarantee that our items are absolutely worth their value."

After listening, Lucas agreed without hesitation.

Before hanging up, Lucas told him that in the future, if he had anything, he could call him directly and wouldn't need to wait for Shauna to arrive and use her device to call him.

Grandpa Manny laughed heartily and then repeatedly agreed.

After hanging up, Lucas fell into thought.

Since they wanted to come and set up stalls, it might even attract more people for him, and then he could also ask Shauna or Gary to set up stalls for him.

He might even be able to make a profit.

Meanwhile, on the other side, after Grandpa Manny hung up the phone, he returned the watch to Shauna, then looked at the people around him and nodded.

The people around him showed expressions of readiness to work hard.

"Little Shauna, could you please not tell Shopkeeper Fang Yan about our situation here when you go back?"

Shauna nodded.

"Don't worry, Grandpa, I won't say anything."

Afterward, she rode on Arcanine, with her backpack slung across her shoulder, pressing down on her hat with her hand, and hurried towards the Breeding House.

At the Breeding House, Lucas had already entered the kitchen and began to research new snacks.

He asked Gengar to pick some chili peppers from the vegetable garden, and then he processed the flour according to the recipe in his memory.

Before long, the dough was kneaded into stick shapes and then processed further.

Next, the chili peppers Gengar picked were washed clean, crushed, and hot oil was added.

Finally, it was drizzled over the dough.

The Breeding House version of spicy strips was officially launched.

"Gengar, come and try it."

Gengar floated over, looking curiously at the red snack.

It extended a small hand, pinched one, and found it somewhat soft.

Then it popped it into its mouth and began to chew.

Chew, chew, chew.

Then its eyes lit up.

It was a little spicy, and a little numbing.

So good!

After swallowing one, Gengar picked up a second one and put it in its mouth, accidentally choking. Gengar felt a fire about to erupt from its stomach.

It coughed incessantly, tears streaming down its face. Seeing this, Lucas couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Gengar recovered after a while, looking at the spicy strips in front of it.

It slurped, salivating.

Ignoring Lucas, who was laughing at it, it continued to eat.

"Don't eat so much, you'll get heaty."

Gengar chewed on a spicy strip, then glared at Lucas, turned its back, and continued to eat.

"Kekeke—"

That's for laughing at me.

He tugged its small tail, letting it float in the air for a while, then picked up one himself and ate it.

It was decent, the taste was similar, and it was much healthier than in his previous life.

Then he took out a portion and beckoned the Breeding House's Pokémon to come and taste it.

Undoubtedly, it once again received rave reviews from all the Breeding House Pokémon.

When Shauna returned, she saw everyone at the Breeding House eating something.

She ran over with her short legs.

Lucas picked one up for her.

He put small gloves on her, and then she took a spicy strip and began to chew.

It was so spicy that she kept sticking out her tongue, fanning her tongue with her small hands.

Finally, after finishing the spicy strip in her hand, she drank a large glass of water.

Seeing that Shauna didn't seem to like it, he patted her small head.

"Next time I'll make something not spicy for you to eat."

"Okay~ Thank you, Uncle."

Unexpectedly, Gary surprisingly liked to eat them.

His mouth was constantly chewing.

Aside from Gengar, he was the one who ate the most.

He glanced at Gengar, whose mouth was stuffed with spicy strips.

Well, no one can snatch them from you, you glutton.

"Kekeke?"

What are you looking at?!
