Chapter 10 - A progress…

"We have reached the isolated island!" Luffy announced loudly, his voice echoing across the quiet shore as he leapt from the small boat onto the sandy beach, his sandals sinking slightly into the damp sand with each step, water splashing lightly around his feet.

He turned back toward the boat, waving one arm high overhead. "Hey! Zoro, Lei, come over here!"

Zoro remained slumped against the boat's side, head tilted back, eyes closed, chest rising and falling in slow, even breaths, his green hair shifting faintly with the breeze.

"He's sleeping," Lei said from his spot on the bench, glancing at Zoro before looking back at Luffy. He added, "Let him sleep. He's still injured."

Nami nodded in agreement from her position near the edge of her boat, reaching over to grab the back of Luffy's shirt collar with one hand, pulling him back slightly. "Yes, Lei is right."

She released Luffy and turned her head toward Lei. "You won't come too?"

"Yes," Lei replied evenly, then closed his eyes, leaning back fully against the boat's edge.

"Oi, Lei! You're not asleep! You're comin' with us!" Luffy called out again, standing balanced on the sandy edge of the island, one foot still in the shallow water as he leaned forward, hands on his knees.

"ZZZ…"

"ZZZ…"

Lei kept his eyes shut, breathing deepening into rhythmic snores.

"He's sleepin' too! But he was just awake!" Luffy exclaimed, scratching the back of his head with one hand, fingers ruffling his black hair as he stared in confusion.

Nami let out a soft chuckle, covering her mouth briefly with one hand, her shoulders shaking lightly.

Luffy turned around fully, facing the dense trees lining the island's interior, and walked forward into the shade, his footsteps crunching on dry leaves and sand. His murmurs grew quieter with each step, fading into the distance until only the gentle lapping of waves against the boats remained audible.

I just gotta wait. I ain't dealing with that dog shit. When is the Grand Line already! When will they get their power up.

Lei shifted his position, moving to the bow of the boat and sitting upright, his back against the front edge. He tilted his head upward, eyes opening to gaze at the clear blue sky overhead, scattered white clouds drifting slowly across the bright expanse.

Beautiful.
