The sky was red—as red as blood.
The city burned like the gates of hell; buildings were devoured in minutes by the sheer intensity of the inferno. The bodies of monsters and humans alike turned to ash in seconds. I moved through the cinders, treading over the bones of beings who once loved, smiled, and lived peacefully until their end.
I'm sorry… I was too late.
"Elizabeth, status report."
"Elizabeth reporting: the city is completely destroyed."
"Are there any survivors?"
"Negative. It appears no one is left alive in this city."
"I see. That's a pity. Investigate a bit further, then return."
"Understood. See you later."
On the other hand, no human would stand a chance of surviving these flames, and even a newly evolved being would struggle to escape this place.
There is nothing left.
However, one spot glowed as bright as the sun. I approached it, drawn by an restless, gnawing curiosity.
What caught my eye was a building still standing, in pristine condition; the atmosphere there was warm yet dark.
A building far too beautiful to exist amidst this chaos.
The pressure of the place confirmed it: this was the start of a great battle… or perhaps, a
trap.
I entered to investigate and found a train car crashed into the building. Likely an accident, but there were no tracks near the train, let alone survivors in sight. The air remained warm and heavy. I began to scout the area for the slightest sign of life.
The pressure mounted with every floor I climbed. It was as if the building itself were rejecting me. Then I knew it instantly: I am not alone.
When I reached the top floor, the pressure vanished completely. The atmosphere grew calm, the air cleaner, and the sun blurred my vision.
But then, the pressure returned— stronger this time.
The clouds turned pitch black, and the sun was completely smothered. Lightning began to strike the sky, one bolt after another. The downpour roared with violence.
The fires of the city were slowly extinguished until only infinite darkness and solitude remained.
And there… a hideous creature descended from the heavens, spreading its wings like a god. Its body began to glow a deep, intense red in the dark. It looked ready to strike.
In a matter of seconds, a breath of fire erupted from the depths of its throat toward my position—likely the same flame it used to level the city.
I extended my right hand and opened my palm, blocking the attack with ease.
"Hey, little bird, is that all you've got?" I challenged.
The Bunker roared in response.
"Don't scream so loud, creature; I have sensitive ears. Just accept that you can't beat me. You're weak, and that's never going to change!"
The monster began to beat its wings violently toward me, sending out wind blades so sharp they sliced through the building like butter.
I dodged the onslaught, waiting for an attack that wouldn't bore me to death.
When the creature's barrage ended, its body immediately began to glow a light blue—as clear as the sky at its peak.
"Well now, reptile, you actually have something fun left in that tiny brain of yours! Come on, let it loose! I want to feel more alive than ever after this fight!"
It immediately unleashed a second breath of fire from its hideous maw. But this time, the flames were a brilliant light blue.
At that moment, I realized this Bunker was no ordinary beast. It was undoubtedly an evolved being among its kind.
I surged electricity through my body and projected it outward, successfully neutralizing the attack.
"I apologize for mocking you. You are strong, but you must die this very instant. You will never taste human flesh or blood again."
"Let's end this once and for all, creature!"
"Forty percent… activated!"
I extended my hands toward it, forming an oval shape.
"Levitato: Crushing Gravity."
Its body was crushed in seconds, its head torn away at the same time.
"At least you managed to make my day. But I will never forgive any of you for stripping
away my humanity."
