Chapter 2 - Underestimating the Trash

Stepping off the train at his destination, he glanced at his surroundings.

Clean streets. Towering buildings.

Everywhere spoke of wealth and refinement—the streets of the elite.

All eyes turned toward him, their gazes full of disgust, confusion, and rejection. With his disheveled clothes and the additional "makeup" from Meng Lingxue's car dust, Long Tian looked filthy to the core, a blemish on a flawless painting.

Yet he found their reaction amusing. It was as if he were the odd one among them; they kept their distance, careful not to brush against him. Some were unwilling to risk catching his scent.

He pushed the distracting thoughts aside.

Who was he?

The Fox King of Devil's Island.

The leader and founder of the Imperial Fox Claw of Devil's Island.

A name synonymous with terror.

There was no way he would be angry over ignorant people.

He returned to China to fulfill his grandfather's last wish, but he didn't expect to be presented with a marriage contract.

Thinking of this, he reached into his pocket and brought out two necklaces. One of which his master had given him: the Nine Dragon Pendant, a pendant with a nine-dragon design.

The other, he found in the forbidden area of Devil's Island: a fang tied to a rope. He kept the necklace's existence hidden from everyone, including his master.

He once asked his master about the origin of the Nine Dragon Pendant, who told him he would find out in the future.

Engrossed in his thoughts, he suddenly rammed into someone, or perhaps someone had deliberately rammed into him.

When he looked up, he saw a burly man who was looking at him in disgust.

"You trash," the man sneered. "Don't you have eyes?"

A cold glint flashed through Long Tian's eyes, but it vanished just as quickly. He smiled faintly and nodded.

"Sorry about that."

He turned and continued on his way.

Behind him, the burly man's lips curled upward, his gaze locking onto Long Tian's retreating figure like a predator spotting prey.

"Hey."

The man stepped forward, blocking his path.

"Where do you think you're going?" He scoffed, pointing at his sleeve. "You've stained clothes worth over ten thousand yuan, and you think an apology is enough?"

His expression twisted with fake anger, but his eyes gleamed with greed and contempt.

Long Tian paused, his anger building. He wasn't dumb enough to realize that the burly man had deliberately rammed into him.

He glanced at the stain on the clothes. From the fabric of the cloth, he knew its price didn't exceed 200 yuan.

"What do you want? I'm sure you know who's at fault here." Long Tian said coldly.

Their clash garnered the attention of the crowds, waiting for a scene to play out.

The burly man saw the crowd, and he sneered.

"Who's at fault?" he barked. "You dirtied my clothes and think you can walk away? If you don't pay me ten thousand yuan, I wonder how many pieces you'll be missing when you crawl home."

The crowd began to murmur.

"Tsk, another prey has fallen into Scar's hands."

"I pity this young man. Anyone who falls into Scar's hands never escapes unless they do exactly as he says."

"No need to pity him. He looks filthy and disgusting anyway."

"I wonder how he'll escape this situation… but that's impossible."

In their minds, the crowd had already decided Long Tian's fate. Hearing their words, Scar grew even more arrogant.

Long Tian shook his head slightly. He could see that most of them knew who was truly at fault, yet none were willing to step forward.

Just as he was about to deal with the trash before him, a voice rang out from the crowd.

"Hmph. Such an obvious trap. How can you claim your clothes are worth ten thousand yuan when they're barely worth one hundred and twenty?"

A young woman stepped forward.

Long Tian glanced at her and was momentarily surprised.

She was beautiful—though not on par with his wife. Her black hair and dark eyes complemented an elegant, noble aura that set her apart from the crowd.

He hadn't expected someone like her to stand up for him.

Was his charm at work?

It seemed there was still kindness left in some people.

Scar's expression darkened as his gaze shifted toward the young woman.

"Mind your own business," he said coldly. "Unless you want to join him."

"And what if I don't want to?" The young woman retorted.

The anger of Scar rose, moving his hand and planning to strike the young woman with his palm. This was unexpected for the young woman.

The crowd gloated at her misfortune. Who told her to put her nose in what doesn't concern her?

Scar thought his hands would hit the young woman, but he was surprised when he saw he couldn't move his hands any longer.

He looked and saw Long Tian gripping his wrist, stopping his hands from moving.

Scar was shocked for a moment before he raised his other hand, punching at Long Tian's face.

Long Tian seemed to have expected this as he caught the fist in his palm.

When Scar saw this, he knew he had kicked an iron plate. His expression turned ugly for a moment.

"Young man, how about we take a few steps back and let bygones be bygones?" Scar forced a smile as he said.

Long Tian chuckled faintly and said, "Now you want it to be bygones. Hmmm, let me think. Well, I am an easygoing person. Just a small punishment will be enough."

He twisted both hands; the cracking of bones could be heard as Scar screamed out in pain, rolling on the street's ground.

The crowd fell silent at the unexpected scene, looking at Scar grimacing in pain.

The Scar they know was being played like a kitten.

"Young man, you will regret this." Scar threatened, his eyes full of hatred.

Long Tian chuckled, his lips curled up into a smile. To Scar, this was becoming like a devil smile as undisguised killing intent fell on him and he knew the source.

He didn't waste time running for his life.

He realised he hadn't offended a common man.
