Chapter 28 The End of the Lord of Terror
Looking at the Lord of Terror still struggling in his death throes, Ling Hao couldn't help but sigh in his heart. At this level of life, it was truly extremely difficult to kill.
He and Tiamat exchanged a glance, and without any hesitation, they pounced at the same time.
The three progenitors, Time Dragon, Power Dragon, and Rainbow Dragon, immediately followed suit, unleashing a torrential downpour upon the Lord of Terror's nearly collapsed divine body.
The Lord of Terror tried to swing the Chaos Axe to defend himself, but the light on the axe had dimmed to the point of being almost invisible.
Ling Hao seized the opportunity and unleashed a breath of order that struck the Lord of Terror's head directly.
This time, there was no resistance. The body of the Lord of Terror completely disintegrated under the impact of the breath of order, and after letting out a roar of unwillingness, it finally perished in the Astral Plane.
Ling Hao reached out and grabbed the last remaining divinity of the Lord of Terror, raising it high above his head.
"The Lord of Terror is dead!" His voice echoed across the entire battlefield.
For a moment, the battlefield was frozen in place.
Immediately afterwards, deafening cheers erupted from the allied forces of the gods.
"The Lord of Terror is dead!" Mother Earth, Sentia, was the first to respond, her solemn voice filled with barely suppressed joy.
"The Lord of Terror is dead!" the goddess of magic, Mysriel, cried out, her staff radiating a dazzling light that illuminated the entire astral battlefield.
"The Lord of Terror is dead!"
"The Lord of Terror is dead!"
Cheers surged like waves, and every deity repeated the exciting news in their loudest voice.
Some injured gods, disregarding their injuries, struggled to their feet and joined the cheering.
Ling Hao stood in the center of the battlefield, feeling the waves of sound surging from all directions.
The cheers of the gods seemed to create a powerful resonance, shaking the entire astral plane.
Ling Hao's gaze swept across the battlefield, and he saw that every deity's face was filled with the joy of victory.
The still-resisting Wild Gods were thrown into chaos. Utau and the Shadow Serpent Dandel were both shaken to their core; they never imagined that their once invincible and terrifying lord had actually fallen.
Taking advantage of their momentary lapse in concentration, Mother Earth, Sentia, and the goddess of magic, Mysriel, struck simultaneously.
The earth magic of Sentia completely suppressed the Shadow Serpent, while the magical magic of Misriel completely trapped Utau.
The two powerful Aragami were killed on the spot before they could even put up a final resistance. Their divinity and souls were taken by the Earth Mother and the Goddess of Magic, respectively.
With the deaths of their leaders, the remaining Aragami completely lost their will to fight and began to scatter and flee.
But how could the gods let such a good opportunity slip by? One of the gods shouted:
"These wild gods are treasures from head to toe, all of them are materials for forging divine artifacts!"
These words made the eyes of all the gods light up. The allied forces of the gods, who had been cautiously advancing, suddenly pounced on the fleeing Aragami like hungry wolves.
The battle turned into a hunt. Every deity was giving it their all, trying to capture and kill as many Aragami as possible.
These chaotic creatures are indeed a treasure trove; their scales, blood, bones, and even their souls are all extremely valuable materials.
Amidst this chaos, Shar, who was fighting Suren, heard the news of the Lord of Terror's fall and opened the entrance to the Shadow Dimension without hesitation.
"Darkness will eventually devour the light." She coldly uttered these words before swiftly disappearing into the shadow dimension.
Suren tried to stop her, but it was too late. Because she had used her source energy so desperately, her power was constantly draining away.
Moreover, in the Shadow Dimension, Shar's power is almost limitless, and she could only watch helplessly as Shar escaped.
At the same time, the remains of the Lord of Terror in Ling Hao's hands were undergoing strange changes.
That priceless divine body was slowly dissipating, leaving only a pure essence of divinity.
Even the Chaos Axe, which was feared by all, disappeared into the chaotic energy at some unknown time.
"What's going on?" Tiamat suddenly shouted in disbelief. "Bahamut, you don't mean to try and take the body of the Lord of Terror and the Axe of Chaos for yourself, do you?"
These words immediately alerted the three progenitors: the Time Dragon, the Power Dragon, and the Rainbow Dragon. The three dragons simultaneously focused their gazes on Ling Hao.
Ling Hao remained calm and explained, "The Lord of Terror was born from chaos and naturally returned to chaos after death. This is determined by its nature and has nothing to do with me."
He turned to Tiamat and continued, "But you, Tiamat, your divine office contains cunning and jealousy."
Saying something like that at this time makes it hard not to suspect your motives.
These words immediately drew the attention of the three legendary dragon progenitors to Tiamat.
Indeed, Tiamat is more likely to use such tricks than Bahamut, the benevolent form of the nine-faced dragon god.
Tiamat's five heads simultaneously snorted coldly, but she couldn't say anything more. She knew in her heart that this glittering twin brother was not easy to deal with.
The gods' scavenging of the chaotic gods continues. Each deity reaps a rich harvest; the materials from these chaotic creatures are enough to upgrade their artifacts to a higher level.
Ling Hao carefully stored the divinity left behind by the Lord of Terror. Although he had lost his divine body and the Chaos Axe, this piece of divinity was still priceless.
He glanced at Tiamat and found that she was staring at him with three out of her five heads, clearly still plotting something.
Ling Hao secretly transmitted his voice to the Time Dragon, Power Dragon, and Rainbow Dragon, "Please pay close attention to Tiamat's movements. Although the Lord of Terror is dead, there may be unexpected events in the future."
The three ancient dragons nodded slightly to indicate their understanding. Having witnessed Bahamut's strength and wisdom in the battle just now, they were naturally more willing to trust him.
The sweeping operation lasted for quite some time. After the last Aragami was sealed away by the goddess of magic, Mysriel, the gods began to take stock of their spoils.
Mother Earth, Sentia, came before Ling Hao: "Thank you for your contribution, Bahamut."
"If you hadn't joined forces to kill the Lord of Terror, this battle wouldn't have ended so smoothly."
The Goddess of Magic nodded in agreement: "That's right. Your performance has exceeded all the gods' expectations. They are all very grateful to you."
Looking into the eyes of the gods, Ling Hao humbly replied, "This is the result of the joint efforts of all the gods."
Tiamat watched coldly from the side, all five heads showing indifference, but ultimately said nothing.
This war and sweep lasted for more than three hundred years.
Ling Hao naturally didn't let this opportunity to hunt down the Desolate God slip by. After all, it was a top-quality material for divine artifacts.
Tiamat followed closely behind Ling Hao, not to be outdone.
His vigorous performance and the powerful strike that killed the Lord of Terror earned him the respect of every god who met him. Even Tiamat, the goddess of evil, greeted him.
The gods began to withdraw from the astral plane and return to their respective territories. The great war had devastated all the gods, reducing their numbers to only a few hundred, and they would need a long time to recover.
Ling Hao took one last look at the battlefield to make sure he hadn't missed anything unusual before opening the passage to the material universe.
Behind him, Tiamat's five pairs of eyes remained fixed on his back, their gazes gleaming with complex emotions.
After placing the sealed divinity properly, Ling Hao began to heal his injuries.
The battle with the Lord of Terror severely depleted him, especially the final fusion with Tiamat, which, although brief, created a considerable burden.
They all need a long time to recover.
