Chapter 1 - Prologue_1

** United City, 19/02/2009 **

Rain...An unending rain.

For how long this downpour had been going on... nobody knew. But even it could not mask the hollow scent of death and sorrow in the graveyard.

Rows of people were gathered in front of a coffin, in the middle of being buried. What's interesting was that all these people of various ages, lifestyle and culture were gathered today mourning for a woman...whom they respected and loved.

Standing at the forefront was a man with his hair set in a slick back, scarred eyebrow which just further enhanced his charm, wearing a messy black suit with intricate designs of a scorpion in gold on his front shirt pocket. The handiwork of the woman in question.

His amethyst eyes now lost its usual luster were foggy and unfocused, his thoughts somewhere else. While others were protected by the rain with an umbrella, he stood without one as if asking the world to punish him.

Gruffy Jeff dressed in his usual mob boss attire approached the man placing a hand on his shoulder. He noticed that the man though unfocused, his hands were clenched so hard that blood dripped from them. Jeff could only sigh and say, "Stop it. Though not a pleasant end, she was proud of her life and lived it on her own terms. We must respect that!" while gripped his shoulder tighter than before.

"Besides, with all these people to support her, she will have a peaceful journey..."

At that moment the man as if snapped back to reality, snapped away Jeff's hand while glaring at him with his bloodshot eyes. His chest was heaving up and down like a wild beast ready to pounce.

"...Not enough" his voice though barely audible was heard by everyone present there. Their heart tightened, already knowing what comes next. Jeff also narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything.

The man now breathing heavily spoke in his ragged but stern voice, "Although everyone here has come for her, the one she wants...didn't even bother to get up from his damned shithole!"

The people just stood there, unmoving. They knew who he was talking about. Of course they knew! The beloved son to whom she had devoted her entire to and also the one responsible for her death. His name was not spoken. He didn't deserve it anymore. But his influence ever present even in her funeral.

The man fell into his knees started to punch the ground relentlessly, uncaring of the consequences. He was too angry, too tired to care for such pleasantries. He just wanted to vent, take out all of his frustration, destroy something...someone.

"She can't rest in peace knowing that asshole is happily enjoying his worthless life" the man said, without easing on pounding his first on the ground in the slightest.

Jeff narrowed his eyes staring at the man for a long time. Time passed, nobody said anything afraid that they would face the blood thirsty madmad's wrath.

In the end, Jeff could only sigh. "So...do you want to kill him?" He asked with a detached tome. To him, this was nothing new. Just another 'accident' would occur. After operating on the dark side for years, such small hiccup was not worth notice.

The crowd's eyes widened but they didn't say anything because deep in the corner of their hearts, they wished for the same.

The scarred man froze. Slowly, he looked up to the old man standing in front of him as if he had an epiphany.

'Kill...? Yes! I can kill him!...can kill him!...kill him!...KILL!KILL!KILL!KILL!KILL!KILL!@#$#$%#$%$@!#$#%$#%%'

Suddenly, something clicked as if a box buried deep inside had been opened.

(...A few years ago, in front of Angelo pub and Winery met lives of two distinct individuals unknown to each other but also unluckily destined to cross paths. The boy stood in front of the establishment fiddling with his pocket knife. His unique scarred eyebrow was a trademark recognized by his friends and foes alike. Suddenly, he was interrupted by a voice. Glancing in it's direction he found a young woman, not a day older than 20 running towards him. Panting, she still kept running carrying a huge suitcase in one hand and a kid in other)

Woman: Hello! I just started today. My name is $@$@$@#. What's yours?

Scarred man: ...Get lost

Woman: Hey! Is this how you talk to your elders?

Scarred man: Hah?! You look just a few years older than me. Get lost!

Woman: Oh come on! Just help out your big sister here. I'll buy you something good.

Scarred man: I'm not some kid. Stop patronizing me.

(With an annoyed look, she placed a hand on the young boy's head pressing him down)

Woman: Should I call you a brat instead of a kid then?

(The boy blushes, turning away his head. He was unfamiliar with this feeling, never having experienced anything like this in his long 17 years of life )

Scarred man: Piss off

Woman: Hah! This is how you talk to your elders?

(Adding more force on the boy's head with mischievous grin on her face, the woman let out a laugh. Looking at her, the boy knew somehow, this annoying woman was going to play an important part of his life... whether he liked it or not)

Woman: Well, me and my son will be in your care from now on. Come on! Tell me your name already"

(The boy looked at her helplessly before a small smile appeared on his face)

Scarred Man: I am...

============================

Memories buried deep into his subconscious mind began surfacing again halting the murderous intent threatening to surface at any moment.

Taking a deep breath, he banged his head onto the ground. The ground beneath cracked, an inconceivable feat by human standards. But this act had helped him calmed down a little. The same couldn't be said for the others. They looked at him in horror as blood started dripping from his forehead like an unleashed fountain.

"No! Leave him alone. I at least owe it to her this much" the scarred man said staring intently at the coffin.

"As much as I would like to kill him right now...doing so would only hurt her more" he said, now calmer than before. So calm that it was gut-wrenching to watch.

"Finish the burial. Let her rest in peace now" he said and started walking without looking back. He couldn't stay any longer. Staying here would only make it harder to say goodbye.

'This is the last time $@$@$@#. If we ever meet in another life, I won't hesitate ...The same goes for your son!' a cold glint flashed in his eyes before disappearing just as quickly.

** Unknown Tower, 2026 AL **

In the dimly lit room of the quantum chamber lied a woman, in a bed of thorns spread across the entire room. Black roses bloomed in these thorns creating a eerie atmosphere. But the woman was a stark contrast in this place.

Adorned in a pure white gown, golden locks cascaded down her beautiful face devoid of any makeup but still undeniably beautiful. She didn't have a heartbeat but a golden orb was placed in her hand which was letting out a soft golden wave of light with each passing second. She had a peaceful smile on her face as if nothing in this world but disturb it.

Suddenly, she opened her eyes. Her pupils were a charming chocolate golden as if created to charm every single person in this world, men and women alike. She got up to a seating position looking in the far north as if trying to find something. After a while, she retracted her gaze letting out a soft sigh.

"It's time...again" she said with a melodious voice, a hint of displeasure in her tone. But soon her eyes were filled out curiously and a tint of mischief, thinking of something she found hilarious.

"But your choice...he is not gonna like it"

She chirped happily as she got up to her feet. The thorns could not hurt her bare feet as if they were avoiding them. She stood in front a wall which was in fact not a wall but a huge mirror which had replaced the traditional walls of the tower. She looked into the mirror, not at her reflection but at something else, something...distant.

"Not a hero, not a trickster...Not a conqueror, not a pacifier...just a common man. Different from others but in a bad way...Not even worthy of the villain title....An outcast....A washout"

She said smiling mischievously. Never before in her long life had she found such an interesting...specimen.

"I will be waiting for you"

**United City, 19/02/2026**

"F**K THIS WORLD!!" A man screamed at the top of his lungs. He had a beer bottle in a one hand and a file of some sort in the other. This behavior would have attracted contempt and ridiculed towards him had he not been standing on the rooftop of his hundred floor company building.

Any sane person who saw him would have thought, 'Has he gone mad?' 'Is he trying to commit suicide?' 'Is he mentally ill?'. Sorry! none of that applies to him. This is just what alcohol overdose does to a corporate slave.

"What is their problem?! Just because I fired the smartass intern are they gonna fire me?! ME!!" the man said throwing the files high into the air letting them drift over the night life of United City. Taking another mouthful of alcohol, he stood up on the ledge spreading his hands as if trying to embrace the very world he stands on.

"That little brat dare say I was wrong. ME? Wrong? Impossible?! I deserve more! I am entitled to MORE! I have devoted 17 years of my life to this company. I swear to god if I don't get what I want, we're gonna have Sigma barbecue for lunch tomorrow!" he said drinking as if his life depended on it.

Don't mind him. Even with alcohol, the only way he can curse Sigma corporation, the place he works at is because nobody is there to listen him rant! Even typical third-rate villains are better him. That's just his life. Uneventful and boring without even a speck of originality. Oh! If I had to say one thing, it would be the ingenious ways in which he always finds a way to embarrass himself.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, he looked at his phone. Looking at the day, a slight grunt escaped his lips and as he looked at it with a disgusted expression.

"Today is the day huh?...The day the the old hag died!" he said, thinking of his mother as the most terrible monster in this world.

"Every time I try to forget, this day always spins back again and again and again to remind me of her!" he said about to throw his phone away but restrained himself.

'I still haven't finished paying the emi on elemon 17 pro max' he thought, treated the phone as his adorable baby before putting it away.

"Stop! I am done with my bad thoughts quota for today. Let the drinking game continu..." he said trying to reach out to another bottle, when a strong wind blew pushing him off balance.

...The next thing he knew, he could see the ledge of the building moving farther and farther away from his vision. '...Shit. Am I falling?...I am falling! I'M GONNA DIE! I'M GONNA DIE! I'M GONNA DIE! NONONONONONO! I still haven't finished watching detergent anime's NEW SEASON!!!!' these were his last thoughts as he got body made a splattering entrance on the porch of the building which the news channels WILL broadcast 24-7 for the next month.

This is not the story of some knight in shining armor or a frightening demon king who treats others lives as his personal entertainment. This is the story of a annoying man who I hope for the love of god will get his redemption arc as he surfs his way into his new life.
