"Mum, no time to waste, let's get going." Emma stamped her foot impatiently, and she continued pacing around.
"Hey, stubborn girl, are you the one who's a candidate for the awakening or me?", Jack smiled; he was feeling nervous, but he tried to hide it.
Emma rolled her eyes at him. "Yes, it's me who's awakening ", she glared.
"Oh, I wish you the best in your awakening", Jack smiles.
"Hmph, I don't need your wishes", Emma folded her arms.
"I think you would need it cause I don't think you are awakening anything today", Jack chuckled.
"Hmph, not even in your wildest dreams", she gave him a smack on his head.
"Hey, what's that for?" Jack grabbed his head.
Not bothered by Jack, she turned towards the direction of their mother's room. "Mom, what are you still doing? We don't have all day long."
"Stubborn girl, why are you so impatient? Are you the one awakening today?" Their mother stepped out of her room dressed in a plain white gown with her hair tied behind, everything about her and her dressing was simple.
"What, of course I'm the one awakening today, how can you forget?" Emma groaned.
"Oh, sorry, my little girl, I totally forgot you were the one awakening." Her mother stepped closer, pulling her in for a hug.
"Mum, why do you tie up your hair? I thought you loved letting them fall freely?", Jack asked with a bit of surprise.
"That's true, I just noticed", Maya looks up at her mother's hair.
"Silly children, I just wanted to change my usual style", she said, slowly touching her face. "Do I look more ugly like this?".
"What!!, who ever said you are ugly?", both of them shouted in unison.
"Mum, you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Your beauty is on par with awakened warriors", Jack said with complete seriousness.
"If I ever hear anyone call you ugly", Maya frowned as she moved a hand across her neck.
"Alright, alright, I get it, I'm not ugly", their mother chuckled. "Are you guys not going again, I can go back to my room".
"Impossible, no one can stop me", Emma ran out of the house, "I'm waiting outside".
Jack's gaze moved to his mother and they both laughed.
She walked towards him, and she helped him adjust his silver shirt although there was nothing for her to adjust.
"Today is your awakening day, you should have worn a suit", his mother chuckled.
"A suit!" Jack was completely astonished. "Am I going for a job interview or something?".
"Let's go meet your sister before her impatience grows beyond control".
"Alright, Mom", Jack smiles.
"Mom!", Emma shouted from outside.
"You see?", his mother smiled.
...
"Mum we should walk faster, the bus station is going to be full", Maya shouted, walking ahead of the duo.
A frown crept on Jack's face as he saw a man dressed in a suit approaching them.
"Hello Mrs Smith", the man greeted.
His mother smiled, " Hello, Adept Nelson, how can I help you?".
"Mr Harris offers your family a ride to the Grand Hall and also uses this opportunity to thank your son for saving his daughter", the man smiled.
Mr Harris is the father of the girl Melissa, whom he had saved from the lizard. This family was the one that he hates; he hates the pair of father and daughter, including this warrior who was before them, and one other warrior. They were all accountable for his father's death.
"Please, this way", the man moved to the side, his hand stretched towards a sleek black Smart GLK luxurious car.
His mother smiled, "Oh, thank you for the offer..."
"But we refuse", Jack completes the statement.
"Hehe, what did you say?" the man frowned lightly.
"I don't like to repeat myself but this time I would, we - re-fuse", Jack said word by word.
The man frowned, "brat you better watch your tongue".
His mother suddenly stepped forward, "Adept Nelson, I apologize for my son's rudeness, but I already bought bus tickets, and I can't let them go to waste". "Please send my apology to Mr Harris", she bowed lightly as she said.
With that, they walked past the luxurious car without looking at it.
The warrior walked back to the car, stepping into the car where Mr Harris and his daughter were sitting opposite him as the car seats were facing each other, "Mr Harris, I'm sorry, but they refused to accompany us, that boy Jack was the one who refused".
"Hmm, I see", Mr Harris muttered, adjusting his glasses.
Melissa frowned deeply, saying nothing.
"Brother Jack, why did you refuse the ride?" Emma punched Jack's shoulder.
"I have my reasons", Jack replied plainly. At that moment the Smart GLK car whooshed past them swiftly.
"Hmph, what silly reasons", Emma grumbled.
His mother turned towards him with a serious expression," Jack, I don't know why you wanted us to refuse the ride but you should be careful with the way you deal with the warriors". "Many of them are dangerous, and they tend to hold grudges over trivial matters". "I want you to be very careful, okay?".
"I understand mother, and I will be careful".
As they got to the bus station they met a short queue.
"Let's quickly get the bus tickets to the Grand Hall", they quickly joined the queue.
Not long after they were able to get tickets for three going to the Grand Hall, they quickly caught an almost full bus, heading towards their destination.
The bus came to a halt outside the Grand Hall, and they quickly alighted from the bus, with a few others being the last passengers.
They could see several people moving around the Grand Hall with smiling faces, cars were parked around, and the chatting of people echoed around.
Jack's gaze moved to the Grand Hall, a towering building with the word Grand Hall written boldly on it. On the roof of the Grand Hall was a very tall tower and also under the Hall was where the shelter was located.
"The Grand Hall is not yet open?" Emma turned towards her mother.
"When the warriors arrive the Hall will be opened", her mother replied with a smile.
"Hmph, why wait outside for them to come? Can't the Hall be open and we wait for them inside?" Emma grumbled.
"I think it would be worth the wait". "I want to see the warriors up front as they arrive". "I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss this scene". Jack was smiling as he thought about this.
"Jack!".
A smile crept on Jack's face as he saw the person calling him.
"Hey Tom", they both shook hands.
"You actually came", Tom smiled.
"Of course, it's the awakening day, why won't I come?" Jack smirked.
"I thought you were still at the hospital". "I just heard from one of our classmates that you left the hospital yesterday, so how's your health?" Tom asked.
"I'm as good as new", Jack smiles.
"Hello Mrs. Smith", Tom waved at Jack's mother.
Jack's mother moved towards him, and she grabbed his hands, "You are Tom, right? Thank you for saving my son from that lizard". "I'm glad both of you are friends".
Tom laughed awkwardly and he was about to say something when...
"Brother Jack, what are those in the air?" Emma pointed at the air.
"Jack looks up in the sky with astonishment, are those airships?".
"I think those are the warrior's ships", Tom said in excitement.
Jack looks at the symbols on each airship's clearly attracted to the ship's aura, "Are you kidding me, all the major families are here, including the government".
