Chapter 2 - Chapter 2.2: Martial Soul Awakening

    – The Tetanus Blade.   With the powerful teleportation ability of the Ope Ope no Mi, even the hundred-meter-high waterfall containing A Yin's body was nothing more than flat ground for Luo.

For Luo, the only problem was—how to determine the day Tang Hao would leave!   Otherwise, if he happened to run into Tang Hao while stealing A Yin's body,

even with the powerful abilities of the Ope Ope no Mi, he would likely find it difficult to escape Tang Hao

's grasp. Unless Luo's strength grew to the point where he could face Tang Hao without fear, or could completely escape from his clutches, he would

n't be able to openly "steal" A Yin's body. Otherwise, Luo felt it was best not to take too many risks.

Having transmigrated to the Douluo Continent world, both his soon-to-awaken Martial Soul and his innate Ope Ope no Mi ability would ensure a very comfortable life for Luo.

He didn't want to add unnecessary troubles to his future.

Just as Luo was pondering how to find the right opportunity to steal A Yin's body, Su Yuntao spoke in his ear.

  "Extend your right hand!"

Su Yuntao said authoritatively, his vertical pupils glowing green as he stared intently at the handsome Luo before him.

Having witnessed the awakening of so many children's Martial Souls, Luo naturally extended his right hand with practiced ease, closing his eyes to feel the throbbing within his body.

Soon, specks of golden light gathered in Luo's palm, forming a katana about 1.3 meters long.

The hilt was tightly bound with black rope, with twelve blood-red rhombuses deliberately carved into the center, arranged in a straight line.

Looking up, the tsuba (handguard) was shaped like a blooming black lotus flower, the slightly curved blade extending from the lotus's stamen, giving it a rather imposing appearance.

Judging by its shape alone—this katana is undoubtedly a peerless masterpiece!

  "It's a pity it's a rusty sword!"

Su Yuntao stared at the katana with regret, letting out a deep sigh.

Although the sword was exceptionally beautiful, its blade was covered in a thick layer of deep red rust, like a pearl obscured by dust!   "If it weren't for this rust, I dare say this sword would be an extraordinary Martial Soul!

"It might even be able to advance to a high-level Martial Soul! But now..."

Su Yuntao shook his head helplessly, sighing,

"However, judging by its appearance, you might possess one or two levels of soul power.

" "Never mind... anyway, let's test your innate soul power first..."

Then, Su Yuntao placed the crystal ball in front of Luo, gesturing for him to place his hand on it.

Luo obediently did so, and the crystal ball emitted a pale blue light the moment Luo placed his hand on it.

"Seventh level of innate soul power!"

Su Yuntao exclaimed immediately, his eyes widening as he stared at Luo with intense interest, looking like a werewolf ready to devour its prey.

Then, as if remembering something, Su Yuntao quickly withdrew his Lone Wolf Spirit and reverted to human form.

"You're quite talented, young man! I was only at second level of innate soul power back then, and now I'm a level twenty-six Soul Master!   Your innate soul power is five levels higher than mine, so your future achievements will definitely be greater than mine. Becoming a Soul Emperor or even a Soul Saint isn't impossible!"

Su Yuntao hugged Luo tightly on the shoulder as if he were seeing a close relative, not even worried that Luo's sword might hurt him.

"By the way, kid, why don't you join our Spirit Hall? Not only will your living expenses be waived after enrollment, but you'll also receive extra subsidies every year!"      Next, Su Yuntao began to explain the benefits of joining the Spirit Hall to Luo.

Things like starting as a Soul Master early and receiving an extra five gold soul coins annually…

the Spirit Hall could send people to help hunt Soul Beasts when acquiring the first two soul rings…

  and so on.

As for the cost—once Luo came of age, he could only join the Spirit Hall and serve it, unable to join any other faction!   Of course, Su Yuntao gave Luo two choices: either come with him and study at the Spirit Academy, or he would issue him a work-study certificate to study at Notting Junior Academy.

If he studied at the Spirit Academy, with Luo's "level seven" innate soul power, he could enjoy better treatment, and the teaching staff at the Spirit Academy would be better.

Frankly speaking, Luo didn't want to join any faction; he didn't want his freedom to be restricted.

However, considering the current situation, Luo felt that joining the Spirit Hall and enjoying the many benefits early on wasn't a bad thing.

Although Luo was now adopted by Village Chief Jack, Village Chief Jack couldn't provide him with much financial assistance.

After all, Village Chief Jack himself had several grandsons, and even if he wanted to support Luo's education, he was powerless to do so.

Luo understood this well; he couldn't ask Village Chief Jack to do more for him.

Raising Luo from childhood to adulthood, ensuring he grew up healthy and handsome, unlike Tang San who lacked food and clothing and looked malnourished, was already Village Chief Jack's greatest effort.

If he didn't join the Spirit Hall, Luo would have to work part-time to support himself, which would inevitably affect his cultivation after enrollment.

Even with the power of the Ope Ope no Mi, Luo was confident he could earn enough to support himself, but it wouldn't be as comfortable as peacefully cultivating every day.

Su Yuntao had just said that as long as he joined the Spirit Hall now, he would immediately receive a Soul Master subsidy of five gold soul coins per year!   After he officially became a Soul Master, the extra subsidy would increase from five gold soul coins to fifty, and after becoming a Great Soul Master, it would increase from fifty to five hundred, and so on!   And it wouldn't stop him from continuing to collect his monthly stipend from the Spirit Hall!

With these gold soul coins, Luo wouldn't have to worry about his living expenses every day.

Moreover, Su Yuntao had also said that once he joined the Spirit Hall, his living expenses for attending Notting Junior Academy would be completely waived!   Luo wouldn't have to waste time working part-time to earn money for school!

He could even use the stipend to do other things each year!

For example, buy himself a couple more stylish outfits…

or buy himself some spirit beast meat to nourish his body…

or buy some New Year's goods for Village Chief Jack…

As long as he told Su Yuntao that he was willing to join the Spirit Hall, Village Chief Jack, who had always taken care of him, could live a better life.

The conflict between reality and his ideal of freedom made Luo fall into deep thought.

Su Yuntao didn't urge him too much, but simply stood in front of Luo, looking at him eagerly.

After a long while, Luo gripped the hilt of his katana tightly with his right hand, lowered his head slightly, and said softly, "I am willing to join the Spirit Hall!"

Su Yuntao smiled upon hearing this.
