Chapter 10 - Giant white snake and kidnapping

—So, what's the plan? Boss.

—Do I really need to be asked that? (Serious)

—No, Boss, I get it now. Then we'll prepare for that.

—Good, I'm counting on you guys.

—Ah, and get that body out of here.

—As you command, Boss.

—That old man brought it upon himself.

—Well then, we're leaving, Boss.

—...

"Sigh" He defeated all ten of them so easily, he must be really strong. Well, whatever, he messed with my people and besides, even if he's stronger than me, if he defeats me, the boys will kill him afterward since he'll be tired by then. So, to avoid losing, I'll kidnap those two kids and he'll get nervous, giving me the chance to finish him faster. Now I need to think of a way to separate him from the kids. I doubt he's heard of us since we never act in front of people, so he won't be too alert about us. He'll probably just think we were a bunch of drunkards.

(In the tavern)

After the incident downstairs, we went up to rest, but then the tavern owner came up to charge us for the damages after the fight. Well, it was going to come out of the master's pocket, so I had no complaints. After he left, the old man told us that we had to rest for tomorrow.

The next morning we went back down to the tavern and saw all the mess from last night. Even though the owner came to charge us, I didn't see any repairs done. Well, it was probably too late when he came last night. We greeted the waiter—this time he smiled at us even though he hadn't paid us any attention before and even talked bad when we first arrived. Maybe he thought we'd want revenge, though I doubt the master cares about someone like that.

There was too much disorder in there. There was food all over the walls, broken containers, tables, chairs, bottles—everything was a complete disaster, and the smell coming from there was so strong that we had to leave immediately.

When we went outside, the sun greeted us by hitting our faces. It was early, but the sun felt stronger than in the forest, and the people outside were talking about what had happened last night.

Since we couldn't buy anything inside the tavern because of the smell, we had to go somewhere else.

Once we got there, we sat down to eat.

—Good morning, Boss. Today's the day.

—That's right, is everything ready?

—Yes, Boss.

—Alright, then we'll see what happens.

After we finished eating, we went straight to the forest to train. I don't know why, but there were some beasts there, so Lilia and I had to deal with them.

Well, we finished really fast because they were no match for us.

While we kept training, suddenly the master became alert because, according to him, a beast was heading toward where we were training. He said it was stronger than the one we fought in the forest before arriving at that village.

It was a Great White Serpent. The fear I felt was stronger than when I saw the giant wolf. Lilia was worse than me. Since she's a full mage, she could sense the mana flow better than I could, so I had to hug her and calm her down—not completely, but enough.

—Lilia, calm down a bit, okay? I'm here with you, so don't worry so much. Besides, the master is here.

—Hey kid, take good care of her.

The serpent lunged, slithering toward him while leaving a trail on the ground beneath it, and the master dodged it. The serpent turned its head toward Lilia and me while shooting poison from its mouth. We had created a mana barrier, and although we knew it could probably withstand the attack, we still did our best.

But at that very instant, the master moved as fast as the wind, making the fallen leaves rise back up, and he appeared in front of us before the attack could hit.

He unsheathed his sword quickly and said, "Linear Slash," cutting through the attack moving in a straight line and cutting the serpent as well.

—Are you kids alright?

—Yes.

The master told us that ever since we left the tavern, we had been followed, even though they tried to hide their presence. He believed the monster had been guided intentionally toward us.

—The serpent has been defeated.

—What, Boss? It was killed right as it appeared.

—Well, don't worry about it. Let's move to plan B.

—Yes, sir.

While we continued talking, another giant serpent appeared, and the old man, who still had his sword drawn, rushed toward it and cut it in a single strike.

Just as he was about to make the cut—almost at impact—a group of twenty men appeared behind the serpent and attacked the master alongside the monster. While that happened, another group appeared and kidnapped Lilia and me.

When the old man saw that, he moved toward us, but the monster intercepted him, pushing him to the side.

(In a cave)

—Boss, we have the kids.

—Good, nice work.

And that's how we were kidnapped by a group of people we didn't even know…
