Chapter 1 - Leon Creed

The sun had just risen.

Even though 'Profound Refining City' was particularly cold in January, people still had to eat. The various house's chimneys were already starting to produce smoke.

The houses here were also very interesting, somewhat like a combination of traditional eastern homes and medieval western houses. But they looked beautiful nonetheless.

On one of the more bustling's streets in the western part of the city. Men were spilling out of a building. With disheveled hair and unkempt clothes, tightening their belts. But their hands were still glued to the women's waist walking beside them.

The women were also used to it, whispering sweet nothings to their ears.

"Sir, you must come again. It was the best night of my life, I hope you don't forget about me…"

The men's vanity was satisfied and they would usually leave after giving the women's behind a final squeeze.

Inside the building, in one of the more inconspicuous corners of the ground floor. A sudden gasping sound was heard.

It was the Young Leon Creed's room. It took quite a while for him to calm down. He silently looked at his tender hands for a while until he realized what happened.

He could feel that his body was much smaller and weaker. The winter morning seemed particularly cold for his frail frame.

"I transmigrated!"

Indeed, he had already lived a life on earth. But then he was puzzled again

"But it doesn't really make sense. why me?"

Generally speaking, the people who get transmigrated are either People with depression who failed in life or maybe very powerful business tycoon who caused a sensation on earth.

But in his previous life, he was just a rich second-generation heir. He had pretty much everything: multiple cars, homes in various countries, personal yachts. He had basically never worked a single day in his life. All he did was alcohol, smoking and drugs. And he silently died of an overdose during a party in his early twenties.

To be honest, he had no regrets. Maybe not overdosing that night would be great, but he would still keep partying if he hadn't died.

It was truly weird for such a person as him to transmigrate.

"Unless, the sun rises from the west…"

Wait a second.

Leon Creed was startled. He quickly jumped out of bed, went to his desk with familiar ease. Opened the drawer and took out an antique looking compass.

Taking out a compass when leaving home was common in this world. After all, if you somehow got stuck in the woods, there was no GPS to save you.

He opened the wooden window inside his room and checked the compass.

After seeing the western arrow point directly towards the sun.

He was dumbstruck, standing like a puppet with strings cut.

"Indeed! The sun is rising from the west…"

But after thinking about it, he calmed down again. There was no law that stated that the sun must rise from the east in every world.

"There are even people flying through the sky and borrowing through the earth. What's a mere western rising sun compared to that?"

By now, he had gone through all the memories of little Leon Creed.

He was a five year old adopted child. His parents had dropped him in front of an orphanage one day when he was an infant. It was full so they planned let him freeze in the cold as a form of an early release.

But his adopted mother found him and bought him here. Her name was Elora Creed; he had taken her surname since he didn't know his biological parents.

This establishments name was 'Plum Blossom pavilion'. It's not hard to guess what she did here.

The Dynasty in which he lived was named 'Azure dynasty', which covered almost the entire western part of the 'Spiritual Ruins World'. It was world renowned for fertile land and abundant harvests. And Indeed, there were people in this world who could fly in the sky or burrow Into earth, possessing boundless magical powers.

Leon didn't know how they did that, but he knew that a cultivation technique was the most important requirement to start.

After going through all the information. Leon felt a mix of emotions. Awe towards this boundless magical world, disorientation by the differences from his previous life.

But most importantly, he felt that he must help his adopted mother. He had a feeling that he had not transmigrated-he had just remembered the memories from his previous life. He still held his mother dearly in his heart and could not bear to let her continue to suffer such in such a filthy place.

In fact, he had already started saving every single coin he had gotten since he could remember.

"But this would never truly work…"

After all, how much could money could he make by saving pocket money given by his mother?

And even if he made enough money. Would the people owning the brothel truly let his mother go?

Won't they just snatch the money and beat him up?

Leon couldn't think of any way to free Elora from this place. Unless…he became a cultivator.

Only then would he be able to easily rescue her.

But where's the cultivation technique? And is just a cultivation technique enough to become a cultivator?

"Let's think about it later…"

Leon decided to postpone his planning. Going to eat something first.

Leon went outside his room and into the hall. The hall was just like usual. Filled with a smell of wine and cosmetics.

All the customers had already left. But like always, a new batch would come again in the evening.

There were men cleaning the floor. Trying to remove all kinds of stains from the filthy floor, only to do it again tomorrow.

There were also women taking away tablecloths for cleaning. Only to wash them again tomorrow.

There were also a few courtesans roaming around. Probably going to take a bath or get a change of clothes. Their faces were completely opposite of what they were in front of the 'guests'-filled with gloom and despair. A few of them even had red lacerations visible on the skin. Probably a few of those 'Guests' who got 'too excited' during the night.

Leon didn't feel much when he saw this scene before his reincarnation. But he found it particularly nauseating now.

Even though Leon himself had partied like this and even ordered prostitutes. He had also been like those 'Guests', paying and leaving. Not caring about anything.

When had he seen such a thing? Not a single person in the hall didn't look disgusted right then. Even he felt the same.

But Leon tried not to think about it, he already had enough problems. He quickly went upstairs and found his mother's room with familiar ease.

He stood in front of her room. Should he knock or should he directly enter?

Normally he would just enter without thinking. But, he couldn't bear to now.

One time he came inside. She was putting ointment on whip marks on her back.

At that time, he was even smaller than now. So she had successfully distracted him with some candies.

But, it would be hard to stay sane now if he saw something similar.

Just then, the door opened automatically.

Behind the door was a beautiful woman with golden hair and blue eyes. With a perfectly symmetrical face and well proportioned body.

With a seemingly perpetual sorrow lingering on her brows. She looked just like a tragic saint. Who could look at her and say she was a courtesan?

It was, of course, Elora Creed. She looked at him and immediately smiled.

"I knew you were standing outside, Come in and eat. I had them prepare your favorite foods today."

Leon carefully went inside. The room was clean and fresh.

With spotless white bedsheets and bed-curtains. The whole room smelled like lavender due to the scented candles.

Leon was immediately relieved. It seemed like no one 'spent the night' with her today. It was not surprising, she was already very beautiful and also considered 'Exotic'.

Since she was from the eastern Frostech Empire. The Frostech empire was equally as large and powerful as the western Azure empire.

The people there were generally blond with colorful eyes like- blue, green or some other color.

Unlike the people of Azure Dynasty with plain old black hair and eyes.

The Profound Refining City was a city close to the borders of the two empires.

Hence, She was considered one of the top courtesans in Plum Blossom pavilion. And hence it was not cheap to spend a night with her.

Leon himself was of mixed blood with black hair and amber eyes.

Most likely, his biological father came here for some kind of business trip and had him as an accident during an affair. Leaving him in front of the orphanage without even a given name.

Probably so he left no proof of his involvement.

Leon had no plans to find him as well.

He sat down and ate with his mother. His favorite foods were actually various meats. He most particularly liked to eat spicy chicken and rice.

Which was exactly what was prepared today.

After taking his seat and starting to eat, he quickly forgot his worries. Elora set a rule to not chat during a meal.

In his previous life, he would have scoffed at such rules. But he ate silently today.

After the meal. Elora said

"Come here Leon, sit on the stool in front of the bed. I will comb your hair."
