A knock on the room door an hour after had me frowning.
I ignored it at first, but the knocking came again, a bit more persistent this time.
"What?" I snapped.
The door opened and Leah walked in, her hair braided neatly down her back. Shame and embarrassment filled me instantly and I rushed to my feet.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know it was-"
"It's fine," she cut me off, a small smile on her face. "I've heard much worse for much less."
That didn't make me feel better at all. The last thing I wanted was to be like all the stuck up aristocrats that she had the misfortune of meeting.
"I really didn't mean-"
"It's alright, my lady-"
"Nysaa, please," I cut her off. "None of that status crap. I'm just Nyssa. Did you need something?"
"I was asked to lead you to the upstairs roof for dinner."
Just like that, my mood soured.
