Chapter 20 - Law Of Control

"So I just can't throw them in. I need someone to actually kick them into the chasm. I need someone managing this properly… how about you stay behind next time, Mary?" Azrael turned to his guardian.

Mary puffed her cheeks and shook her head. "No."

"Are you scared I'll come back with a carton of milk and 2 kids? Haha!" Azrael laughed.

"As much as I want it to be only a joke, some cheap slut could lure you in and stick you with 2 kids." Mary turned it into a grim warning, and Azrael couldn't laugh after that.

To change the subject, Azrael focused on the snake he'd caught. They'd been acting up. Time for a lesson. He could throw them into the chasm and watch the percentage tick up, sure. But with this many bodies, the Dungeon Panel had to have something new.

Sure enough, it had one.

[Dungeon Mobs: The Chasm has been fed with the Shadow Forest Snakes' corpses. Feeding the Chasm with more corpses will allow the Chasm to create a monster core, which will spawn Shadow Forest Snakes for you to use.]

[7/1000]

Is that what I think it is? I've thrown over 30 corpses in here and only 7 have fallen into the chasm? Nah, you fucking snakes.

Azrael didn't even bother with the living ones, even though he'd considered letting them fight over the bronze and silver chests and evolve into mini-bosses. In the first place, his dungeon was too small for mobs like those.

Clenching his hand, he summoned his Conditional Sphere.

The Sphere was visible to everyone now, no longer an invisible barrier. It shrank into a small orb that fit easily in his palm. Without hesitation, Azrael chucked it across the dungeon to the safe zone, where the snakes were busy feeding on their own kind.

"Was that…?" Mary asked.

Thanks to her Guardian role, Mary could read Azrael's status. He was showing off Law Of Control (B). And once the orb hit the ground, he pushed it further.

On the ground, the orb rolled in place. The gravity law within it began to spiral, yanking at every snake and dragging them into a single writhing mass. The pull hit with A-rank force. The monsters didn't even get to resist.

Once the whole pile was gathered, Azrael crossed a makeshift bridge and kicked the mass into the chasm.

[14/1000]

A moment later, the Chasm's evolution percentage rose to 4%.

Catching on that he'd used something new, Kaya said, "Congratulations on acquiring a new skill, Master Azrael! You're really overcoming yourself, and your own expectations!"

"Thanks. It's a really good power." Azrael nodded, not revealing much.

Even so, Mary could read the description just fine.

[Law Of Control (B): Grants the user the option to rewrite limitations placed on his skills and laws. Each rewrite costs mana and can only be used once. The same rewrite afterward will cost more mana.]

This skill's limitations aren't clear, so chances are Azrael's mana and imagination are the only limits. No. Who am I kidding? The world's laws still apply.

Lost in thought, Mary barely noticed Kaya step up to Azrael. Kaya stood at attention, and it was obvious she wanted something.

"What's up?" he asked.

Kaya straightened. "I'd like to invite you to the Beastblood Clan! There are plenty of people who'll help you conquer dungeons! And dungeon building, too!"

Azrael nodded. "Yeah. I'll visit your place soon. But we'll talk it through first."

Risky or not, going to the Beastblood Clan was an option. If people learned what he could do, not everyone would welcome him. Some would try to steal his skill. Others would try to use him.

And if it turned into a fight between two sides, he wasn't strong enough to matter.

Before word spread any further, he needed more strength.

I'll make sure she doesn't breathe a word about my skills. Then I'll build a team here to conquer more dungeons while strengthening my own. But I need to work on my stats. They're holding me back too much right now.

"By the way, you mentioned something about the River Damases," Azrael said to Kaya.

"Yes. That's where the strong variants of Shadow Forest Snakes come from," Kaya replied.

"Then it must be close. Let's head over there soon. For now, can you hunt nearby Shadow Forest Snakes and bring their corpses here?"

At that, Kaya's blue eyes lit up. "Yeah! I can do that! Leave it to me!"

Despite being exhausted and still rattled from the encounter with the snake boss, she bolted out of the dungeon.

Seeing that, Mary smirked as she floated closer to Azrael.

"Still not finding her adorable?" Mary asked. "Because I do."

"Yeah, that was pretty sexy. I couldn't stop staring at her tits when she ran. They jiggle like crazy." Azrael didn't even try to deny it.

"How stubborn. Anyway, you seem to have a plan." With a small smile, Mary switched topics.

"Yeah. I need to raise my stats. It's really hard, but I've seen people boost theirs through those hellish training programs back at school. There has to be a better way."

"Naturally, there are ways. You won't learn them at government-issued schools."

"Seriously? Is it some ancient method kept secret by ancient clans for their ancient lineage descendants?"

"It's not about ancient or clans, though you're close. But yes."

"That's corruption!"

"That's reality, Azrael!"
