Chapter 1 - Chapter 001 — It opened.

In front of him stretched a vast library, every shelf packed with books forming a safe haven for any book lover. The oak-wood shelves held a neatly engraved genre label that was at the center of each shelf. It would be just another one of those victorian styles library only found in a royals palace—if not for the strange aura eminating from each book.

It was rather mesmerizing.

The one difference that stood this place out from the others was the massive window, that could be seen from each floor. It showcased a devistated city—similar to his in the modern world. A giant building crumbled to pieces, all he could make out was unfamiliar writing so it definitely wasn't his home country.

Merlin laaid sprawled on a soft, plush sofa as a book rested on his face half-opened. Though a soft tap awakened him from the so-called meditation, or whatever he called it.

Merlin moved very slowly but eventually he removed the book from his face. He came into contact with the now familiar skeleton headed butlers. He was still in this place, that was his first thought but it had marked the fifth day of his arrival. In the beginning, Merlin had all sorts of assumptions. For example he had been kidnapped or taken by aliens for expirements on their home planet, but ultimatly he had come to the conclusion he had died an transmigrated.

That was the most logical explanation.

Otherwise how could you explain the immense changed to his entire body—it couldnt be atributted to plastic surgery that's for sure.

Merlin had went from a typical american to a distinguished noble from a historical manhwa, a rather short one too.

Did he explore this world? No.

He didn't want to uncover the possible dangers of this distroyed world.

Not to mention these strange skeleton butlers, with their uniforms and skeleton heads, couldn't possibly be human. So, he accepted this situation quite readily.

"What is it?" Merlin muttered at being woken up from 'meditation'.

The butlers, named number one, gestured to a certain book in the library. It was the one book he couldn't open or move throughout the five days he had settled here. But now that book had fluttered open.

'Huh?'

That was his first response.

But he soon came out from his dazed-like state and quickly went over. Number one went took clean and orginize with the other butlers who were named numbers two, three, and four respectively. The book that seemed to have been sealed shut was now open, and the text wasn't a typical novel storyline.

'What the hell does this mean?'

Merlin was even more confused.

But no matter was he did, he couldn't turn the page or even move it. Let alone discover something else. So for now, all he could do was complete the task, and hopefully he could find a way back home.

The one thing he could kind of understand was the small icon near the corner of the page—reading progress. It referred the the number of books he had read throughout the five days here. The 10.7% signified the 120 books he read—it might be confusing why he seemed to remember the amount. But his abilities had been enhanced here, he could now remember everything perfectly and was physically much more fit.

It was a miracle.

There wasnt much to do but read so that's what he did but for now he went back to his 'meditation' on that soft couch.
