Laurel rested her back against the door to her room. She felt tears trickling down her cheeks. She felt stupid for crying over someone who betrayed her and killed her.
She could still remember the smug look on her face, the satisfaction in her look when she watched her die.
But knowing all this, why was she still crying? She wondered.
It hurts so much, yet it was not something she could easily forget. Their bond, the friendship, all they had gone through together.
Her heart clenched. "Damn me." She tugged her hair in anger and frustration. "Why the hell can't I stop grieving something that was built on lies?"
She wanted to scream, to drown out the pain in her chest, yet there was nothing except the throbbing pain in her chest.
